    Weight Watchers and the band

I love WW. But I also have a proven track record of not keeping it off. It would be great if bandsters could unite and form our own area. I was so disappointed when I searched through the WW boards for such a group and all I found were discussions like the ones here. WW is big on using tools. Why is the band not considered an acceptable tool? It doesn't do any of the work for us?!

    Self-Pay Insecurities

Thanks for the responses! I hadn't thought about by the time I need a replacement or fix that my insurance at that time could cover it. For that matter, even if I had insurance now, it might be the opposite in the future. I am also going to use my FSA account for this. I think I just about cannot get this done soon enough! Jen
  4. Hi everyone, My insurance does not cover this surgery. I have gotten my arms around that I am going to pay for this, and that it is a good decision, health-wise. One of my remaining concerns, though, is that if the operation has complications or if there are any future health issues resulting from the band, insurance will not cover that as well. Now I feel like I'm playing Russian roulette with my health and my family's finances. It's a fairly new procedure, but I'm guessing that I am facing a high chance of having future issues that will result in surgery to repair, replace or remove the band. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks! Jen

    "Results not typical"?

Thank you so much for the responses! And congratulations on the successes. It's amazing and inspiring.
  7. Hi, I am hoping to do this soon. I FEEL ready to commit to making the changes. I also felt committed each time I've started weight watchers or another exercise program. At the bottom of the pictures in all the weight loss ads through programs such as weight watchers, jenny craig, etc, there is always, in fine print, "results not typical." I've always thought I could be one of those "results not typical" people. But as it turns out, I've always been typical...lost some weight, fell off the wagon, and gained it all back plus some. For lap band, are results typical? Do I have a better chance of succeeding? Thanks, Jen
  8. Does anyone have any feedback on using Obese Solutions in Mexico? I could actually run the cost of this route through my FSA. Thanks! Jen
  9. I am curious how this tool will help me overcome overeating when I do not overeat because I'm hungry? I am guessing others have dealt with this. I know I want the surgery and that it is a tool, not a miracle cure. I know I am committed to permanent lifestyle changes, but I've "known" that at the beginning of every other weight loss attempt. How have you used this tool to overcome emotional or stress or just out-of-boredom or habit eating? Thanks~Jen
  10. Hi everyone! I am new posting, but have lurked for awhile. My insurance doesn't cover any type of weight loss surgery. My credit is bad, just lost house to foreclosure last year (hubby is a car salesman, need i say more!) so have been turned down for credit. I am determined to do this? I'm terrified of the future medical problems. I've lost and regained hundreds of pounds and been through all the shame and humiliation. Does anyone have any creative ideas for financing? Please? thanks, Jen
