Hey everyone! I am new to the july group. i was banded on july 10th and have lost 16pds. not nearly as much as i thought i would by now. i got to have my second fill on thursday, so i am excited about that. i just am glad to have found this place so i can get so extra support. not a lot of people no that i have had this surgery, my husband, parents and my sister. only because i have 4 other family members who have all had gastric bypass. (they were firm believers that the band would not work for them) i just didn't want people watching everything i did, and constantly asking me how much weight have i lost so far(especially since i haven't lost that much) anyways, glad there is a place for me here to get advice and just talk and listen! i hope to get to know ya'll and maybe you'll get to know a little about me too! great job losing the weight, but will you plan on being on optifast forever? probably not, and you have said yourself that you have yo yoed for many years. here is a chance for you to keep it off. pray about it, but i think you should still go for the band.

Researching the Procedure
lcain25 replied to ParisAngelTX's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey ParisAngelTX, You sound just like ME!! I had the lap band surgery on july 10,2006. I am also 5'4 ish and weighed 196 when i got the surgery done. insurance WILL NOT cover you, because they don't believe your heavy enough (trust me i know how you feel) Since the surgery I have lost 16pds but that was in the first 2 weeks while i was on liquids. i have had one fill but haven't lost any more weight. although i am not eating the amount that i had eaten before. i am working out a lot too! so needless to say i was a little disappointed.Don't get me wrong i am very HAPPY that i have the band, i just was expecting to lose more weight quicker! because i have meet people that lost 40 pds in 2 months!! but, i called my doctor yesterday and had a mini meltdown (this was a self pay and i just don't want to let myself down) thankgoodness he reassured me that everyone is different and with me working out im adding muscle..... so i still have a few more fills to go.! I totally know how you feel. it was hard for me to find a lot of people like me that weighed what i did. lots of people want to lose a hundred + pounds and i was hoping for at least 50- 60! im sorry this message is so scattered!! hope it makes some sense for you. and please contact me if i can help you with anything! -

Hey everyone, I am new to this forum. I join the "band" on July 10, 2006. I was really excited about it. Within the first 2 weeks I had lost 16pds. Mainly because I was on liquids. Now, nearly 2 months later, I've lost NOTHING!! I have had one fill and its not that I'm hungry, I'm just not losing. I started working out 2 weeks ago, 5 days a week for an hour. I'm feeling very discouraged. I thought that I would at least be losing a pound a week. Does anyone have any advice for me? I have talked to other people and they have lost 30 pds in a couple of months. Is something wrong with me? I have another fill in October. I feel like I'm letting myself down. eventhough I have NOT been eating bad or too much. (I had a few experiences when i did not chew enough or ate too fast, thats NOT fun) well, if you have some advice or if this sounds like something that has happened to you, please send it my way! Thanks, Lisa:phanvan
