Does your port get in the way of daily activities?
JJLaw08 replied to Miss_A's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It does get better, but mine does hurt some still especially if I turn or twist a certain way. -
How much are you paying for a fill self pay
JJLaw08 replied to Want To Be Thin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
"Free" fills for the first year (I got one a month, and tomorrow will be my last "free" one). It is $100 for a fill if I need one. I hope that I won't for awhile because I need to lose only 15-20 more pounds. -
How long do you really go between meals?
JJLaw08 replied to honk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a little worried about this as well, but I just don't feel like eating. I don't have breakfast, and I eat maybe 1/2 cup for lunch and dinner. I do have a snack in the afternoon, and I do most of my eating after dinner (which isn't good). -
How long do you really go between meals?
JJLaw08 replied to honk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can easily go 5 hours without eating. I don't eat breakfast at all, and sometimes I won't eat anything until 12 or 1. Also, I don't measure my food. I just get a little of whatever I'm having, and eat until I feel that feeling that if I eat another bite it is going to hurt. -
scared my band will slip
JJLaw08 replied to jennyflower's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I worried a little as well. I've heard if you get heartburn while laying down at night that that could mean it has slipped. I do that on occasion so I kinda worried about it, but I think it is what I eat . -
if i think something is stuck how do i know
JJLaw08 replied to muffin56's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will know when you get stuck. I have a sharp pain, and it hurts. Sometimes it is really bad, but that isn't too often. I have found something that helps me. It sounds weird, but I kinda jog in place. It seems when I jump around like that it helps it go down really fast. -
Lean Cusine and other frozen Pre made foods
JJLaw08 replied to Steph951's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do eat them on occasion. I can only eat half of one, however. -
Also forgot to mention. At supper I can usually eat more. If I am eating soup like I did tonight, I may get in over 1/2 cup. Solid food it is less than 1/2 cup or right at 1/2 cup.

Thank you. Yes. I am a Christian. You're welcome. I hope my answer helped somewhat. I was banded on Feb. 8, 2010. I have nearly 85 pounds since then. I don't follow everything by the book. I eat junk that isn't good for me, but it hasn't slowed my weight loss yet. I like maybe 15-20 more pounds to lose, and then I need to firm up. Hope this helps, and let me know if you have any...

I don't usually measure, but I would guess I eat maybe 1/2 cup or less. That is for lunch and supper. I don't eat breakfast anymore. I eat a snack or two as well.

I had only been heavy for about 3-4 years when I had surgery. I went through a breakup right after I graduated high school is 2004, and I slowly (and sometimes not slowly) gained weight. I knew what type of things ran in my family health wise so I wanted to get a jump on this early, and take care of it while I was young. I have lost over 80 pounds in 11 months, and I would do it again in a minute. I like maybe 20 or so pounds at being to goal, and I think it has been pretty easy so far. No major problems or anything. Getting stuck stinks, but I can still eat just about anything I want (excluding bread) just less of it. I've lost my weight without really exercising and eating too healthy. I just cannot eat much. I like my band most of the time.

Trying to make a list, can you help?
JJLaw08 replied to B.B.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also like the Myoplex lite in the chocolate flavor. -
I can only eat about 1/4 - 1/2 cup of food per meal. Sometimes maybe 3/4 cup at supper.
-
I was told the same thing, but I didn't really follow it until I got closer to restriction. Now since I am tighter, I can only eat about 1/4 - 1/2 cup. It gets easier. Just hang in there, and I wouldn't worry too much if you don't eat 1/2 cup. JMO.

I have noticed since I got my last fill that I don't eat breakfast hardly ever. Some mornings I may cook an egg, but that is seldom. I have my tea in the morning and that is it. I may take a few peanut butter crackers to work to eat a little later, but most times I won't eat until lunch. Does anyone else do this? I know it isn't good for me to skip breakfast, but I just don't feel like eating in the mornings. I don't even want to drink a protein shake either. Any advice?
-
I do sometimes eat something a little later at night. I eat supper around 5:30 or 6 so I may eat some popcorn or something at 7:30 or 8 so that is probably why I'm not hungry in the mornings. I hadn't thought about that being the case as to why I'm not hungry. Thank you!

Thank you for the replies. See the problem is I love breakfast. Even a couple months ago, I was eating a protein bar for breakfast, and before I had surgery, I loved eating Special K cereal. I have always loved breakfast, but recently, I just have no desire to eat it. Nothing really tastes all that good anymore.

Getting sick alot. Anyone else have this problem?
JJLaw08 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have noticed since it has gotten colder here that I have been sick three times. I got sick in late October just sinus and stuffy nose. I got sick right after Thanksgiving with a sinus infection that lasted three weeks. I finally went to my regular doctor on Dec. 8, and she gave me an antibiotic. I was great until this morning. My nose is burning, and I feel like a sore throat is coming on. I have never been sick more than twice during the winter months so I am curious if it has something to do with the lapband surgery? It may be a stupid question, but I just cannot figure out why I am getting sick all of a sudden every few weeks. I guess it is just a coincidence or something, but I thought I would ask. Thanks! -
Foods you eat/don't eat?
JJLaw08 replied to sawyer77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I no longer eat bread, and I don't miss it. I did take a small bite of cornbread the other day on New Year's, but most of the time I don't bother. Everything else I haven't had too much issues with. -
I'm sure ya'll want to hear this , but I started at DD cup size. I went shopping for new bras Monday, and they measured me a D. I tried the bra on, and it was too small so I had to stick with a DD, which is fine with me . I have lost 76 pounds and haven't went down a cup size just the band size.

I have used Emu Oil on a scar before. It worked well for me.

I do take a Flintstone (Target brand actually) every night like the bottle says, but I guess it does have something to do with our nutrients. I stopped taking my chewable Calcium because it tastes like chalk, but I guess I need to start back to see if that helps. Thank you for response. -
Thank you! I have some Benefiber so I'm going to start using that. I also am getting me some Vitafusion Fiber gummies someone recommended the other day.

Hehe. Me neither. I can handle a little sinus issue if I am losing weight. I just thought it was weird, but I'm glad I'm not alone. -
Did your doctor say why not to use Metamucil? That is what I have been taking.
