Problem With My Band
JJLaw08 replied to William F. Mason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I remember I had heartburn and some reflux at night when I had a slipped band. You might want to go under fluro again to get it checked out. -
Had All My Fill Removed....help

Sorry. I've never heard of anything like this happening. Hope it gets better for you. Thankfully your band didn't prolapse on you. -
What's All The Noise? Help!
JJLaw08 replied to dar36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is it when you drink or eat? Mine makes noise when I drink. Don't know why yours is just now starting though. -
My band slipped about a year ago, and I just now (March 8, 2012) got it fixed, but I am really paranoid. I was doing fine still on fill liquids and then last night after I drank a Protein shake, I felt some aching inside right where the band was, and it is still doing it a little this morning. It kinda feels the same as it did while I was living with a slipped band. I know I was in surgery 1.5 hours due to a bunch of scar tissue from the first surgery and that might be what it is, but I am truely worried since I did have a slipped band before. I don't ever want to have this surgery again so I'm paranoid. Could it be I'm still healing even though it didn't do this during the earlier parts of this week? The doctor put like 5 cc's of Fluid in during surgery which scares me a lot. Could that be a problem? It seems liquids are going down fine. Maybe I'm just paranoid.

Can you cause your band to slip if you overeat a lot? Or if you take big bites? -
Food Ideas For Puree Diet?
JJLaw08 replied to Loneil's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't believe noodles was on my list, but pudding was. I actually have been eating pudding already. I am a week out from my second surgery so hopefully I didn't hurt anything by eating that. -
Food Ideas For Puree Diet?
JJLaw08 replied to Loneil's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also, mashed potatoes and cream soups if you couldn't have those on the liquid portion. I know a lot of people don't want to eat a lot of mash potatoes but that is what I lived on for about a week the first go around at this surgery. -
Food Ideas For Puree Diet?
JJLaw08 replied to Loneil's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The sheet the doctor gave me suggested things such as real soft eggs, thinned oatmeal. I know that I've been wanting some food with substance so those things are going to be so good. -
I just had reposition surgery last Thursday because my band had prolapsed. I am very worried that it might do it again, but I was so tight before for too long which is what caused mine from what the dr told me. I don't know what I would do if I had to have it done again since I am self pay. It isn't normal I don't think, and I don't think it happens to a ton of people.

You probably would know if your band slipped. Last year all during the week I was fine. I woke up on Thursday morning, and it hurt bad even to swallow my saliva. I thought it was just me. It didn't go away, and I had reflux off and on so I went to the doctor Friday. He took all my fluid out. I went back later for fluro, and it had prolapsed. Thought it would correct itself, but it didn't. I had got down to my goal weight, but have gained a little back since then. I had mine repositioned last Thursday.

Thought this would be a good place to post this. I had reposition surgery last Thursday, and yesterday my left shoulder started aching and cramping. You know how you feel when you are running and you get that little cringe in your side? That is what is going on with my left side of my rid cage, and it is going into my left shoulder. Anyone know what this could be? Gas? I took some gas relief medicine, and it hasn't helped much. I couldn't even turn on my left side last night to sleep because it hurt so bad. I didn't have this pain my first go around so it's weird.

I Need More Protein. Please Help!
JJLaw08 replied to Sammatha's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not a fan of the ones you have to mix so I get Myoplex Lite in chocolate. It is pretty good. My first go around I bought some unflavored Protein powder from Walgreens. I cannot think of the name, but I mixed it in my smoothies on my full liquid diet. Why did they make you buy their own recommened brand? Seems like they could have given you some options. Just curious. -
While I don't really think this had anything to do with why my band slipped, I am going to take it easy on the cokes. I didn't drink a lot of them the first go around, but I don't want to take a chance.

8 Days Post Op... Feeling Very Hungry!
JJLaw08 replied to rairai's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had reposition surgery last Thursday, and I am already getting hungry. The first go around it took awhile for the swelling to go down. I didn't really get hungry until the soft food stage. Now I am counting down the days until the 22nd so I can move to mushies. It will feel so good to eat something with a little substance. -
Would This Be Good For Post-Op Full Liquids?
JJLaw08 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I found this WW recipe through Pinterest, and I was wandering if this would be okay for post op full liquids. Of course, I wouldn't drink it everyday, but I am starving and this looks very good. I don't have any fat free frozen yogurt, but I think I will buy some and try this out. Looks as if I would need to add more liquid because it appears thick. http://www.weightwat...1&sc=11 -
Mine actually hurt for a couple weeks initally, and then off and on depeding on what I've been doing throughout the day.
-
I've also realized that feeling full with the band is way different that feeling full without the band. It is kinda weird. Anyone else have the same experience? I used to eat until I felt like I would pop and have that pressure in my stomach, but it is different with the band.

Had Reposition Surgery Yesterday. Wow!
JJLaw08 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe this may be worst than the first go around. First off I was I was in surgery for like 1.5 hours because I had a lot of scar tissue due to my prolapse. They worked me over in the OR. I dry heaved two times and then I threw up my nausea medicine and my tea. When I got home I threw up my pain medicine. I just feel like crap. My nausea is much better this morning but my back is killing me. It will get better soon I hope. -

Also, the doctor put close to 5 cc in the band while he repositioned the band. Is that normal to add fluid during surgery? -
I wish I could say I had the same success, but I am having to have my band repositoned this Thursday. I am self pay so that set me back about $6,000.00 total. Not terribly bad, but I would rather not have had to have the surgery again. I was hoping mine would correct itself, but a fluro back before Christmas revealed it did not. I was diagnosed with a prolapse last March (I was too tight for way too long, but I didn't pay attention to my body), and I am just now deciding to get it fixed. Luckily, I had lost all the weight I needed to before this happend, but now I have gained almost 30 lbs. back. I don't look forward to the post op diet, but I'm ready to lose these extra pounds I have put on. Good luck!

I am having my band repositioned this coming Thursday. I have had a prolapse for the past year and am just now deciding to get it fixed. Is it better or about the same as the first go around?

Prolapse. Will Have Lap Band Surgery Again.
JJLaw08 replied to JJLaw08's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sorry. I just saw this post. Back in March, I realized I was a little too tight. I went to have 1 cc removed. Well about three days later, I woke up and it hurt to swallow anything. I didn't go to the doctor until the following day because I just thought I was getting sick or something. He removed all my Fluid and scheduled me under fluro. That is how he found the prolapse. I have been feeling fine so I thought it was getting better. I didn't really have pain or nothing when I ate so I didn't think it was that big of a problem. -
I learned that I had a slight prolapse back in March. He took all my Fluid out for about a month, and then he started slowing adding fluid back in. I probably got 5 fills (2 under fluro). I went for my 2nd fluro today, and it has gotten worse. He said I could either let it rest for a few months to see if it corrects itself or have surgery to reposition the band. I am self pay so everything is out of pocket. I'm looking at $8,500.00 to get it fixed since he doesn't have to replace the band itself. I don't know what to do. I hit my goal back before I had this problem but I've gained about 20 lbs. since the prolapse. I do not want to ever go back to where I was before so I guess I will pay to have it redone this January. This really stinks though. I was hoping my insurance would pay for some of the hospital bill ( the doctor's bill is only $1,000.00), but I doubt they will since this surgery isn't covered. Anybody else have this problem where they had to have it fixed?

Prolapse. Will Have Lap Band Surgery Again.
JJLaw08 replied to JJLaw08's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you. I am mad/upset, but I figured this would have to be done. The bulge above the band was getting smaller the last fluro he did, but yesterdays was bad. When I drank the liquid, it looked like a balloon. I was hoping if I let it rest for a few months that maybe it will go away, but I've already wasted like $1000.00 on fills and fluro just to have to have it all removed. I don't want to do that again so I guess I will have to pay to have it repositioned.
