  1. It usually goes pretty quickly. I had mine under fluro yesterday. I also learned yesterday that they have to use special needles for the lap band. They are a lot thinner and such than regular needles. The regular needles can harm the port.
  2. Not me. Since I don't have restriction I take big bites. I'm trying to teach myself to slow down, and take smaller bites, but it is hard.
  3. I'll be honest. I don't get nearly enough liquids in a day let alone the water they say you are suppose to. Don't know if that is a problem, but I seem to be doing fine with it.
  4. Can chugging water or taking too big of a drink all the time lead to slips or problems with the band? Or just some discomfort in your chest? I like to take big sips so I'm curious. I don't want to mess the band up.

    So Hard To Eat

That is only when you are eating solid food. You need to drink drink and drink some more. Keep sipping all day.

    Band Has Slipped

I just had revision surgery March 8. I still have my first band. My doctor just moved it up into a different spot. So far so good I guess.

    23 Days Post-Op

Yes. I had a slip back in March 2011, and I just now decided to get it fixed.

    23 Days Post-Op

Congrats. Keep up the good work. I am one month out from my second surgery. Are you back on solids yet? I am transitioning this week to solids so I'm a little scared.

What Do They Have Us Do

I had surgery March 8 so I am getting ready to start solids. I'm kinda scared since I just had my slip fixed. I have been eating things like chili and string cheese, but I will start eating more solid things. I think I will hold off until Easter Sunday, and then try a few more things then.

    Soft Foods

I've been eating around1/2 cup to 1 cup per meal. I am only eating things like chili, baked potato, and string cheese right now though. My appetite is starting to increase I can tell especially at night when I am sitting around.
  11. I had surgery on March 8, and I am having the worst stomach cramps and gas pains ever. I don't remember having these the first surgery back in 2010 so this is new to me. I take Gas X extra strength, but it is not doing a thing. It hurts to stand upright sometimes, and then other times it only hurts when I press on my belly. I had this happen to me last June. It was horrible. I even thought about going to the ER, but I went to Urgent Care instead. It finally went away after about a week, but this has been going on for over two weeks now. I'm not using the bathroom regularly so maybe that has something to do with it. Any suggestions to alleviate the pain?
  12. Thanks so much for the tips. It's weird. It starts in my upper stomach, and I can feel it ever so slowly working it's way down. It then starts all over again.

    Question - Body Image

I might need to check on those books as well. I need to tone up for sure, and I plan on starting as soon as I get over this second surgery, but I still don't like what I see in the mirror.

    Question - Body Image

I weigh around 178 right now, and I still feel like I weigh well over 200 lbs. I don't know why that is the case, and I don't ever know if that will go away. It is strange for sure. I also feel that is what people see me as. Someone who weighs over 200 lbs.
  15. I did the same thing. I had my first surgery in Feb. 2010 and didn't have that many problems with gas until last June. It was very painful. I even had a test done at the hospital because I didn't know what in the world was going on. It went away and I haven't had problems until now (my second surgery).

    Fill Question

You really need to get some taken out if you are having heartburn that bad. Living too long with a tight band can cause a slip. I've been there and done that.
  17. I start soft foods tomorrow. What are some good foods that I can eat? Also, what portion size should I adhere to? The guidelines I received said 1/4 cup, but the sample menu they gave me had closer to 1 cup of food per meal.

    Uggg Heart Burn

Def. call your doctor. Sounds like you are too tight.
  19. Did it require being put to sleep again or how was it fixed? Sorry to hear your doctor didn't take you seriously at first.

    Soft Food Ideas

I ate some pinto Beans last night for supper, and I will be having them again for lunch. Didn't really taste all that great. I think my taste is messed up right now. I am going to have a baked potato for supper tonight. I looked at my list again, and it says I can have crackers, toasted bread, deli meats during this stage. I have had some crackers the last couple days, but I don't know if I would call that soft food.
  21. It still seems hard to wrap my mind around this feeling. It is a totally different feeling that before I was banded. I think I tried eating until I got to that same point which is probably what contributed to my slipped band that I had to have repaired.

    Soft Food Ideas

I boil my eggs, mash them up, and put mayo and salt/pepper in there. I don't know why it is called salad, however.
  23. I got Loratab Elixir. I took just about all of it the first go around. Not so much this time around. They didn't prescribe anything for nausea so my mother had Pheregan (sp?) tablets that I took for two days until it passed. I get real nauseous after surgery apparently.
  24. I believe it is normal. Some people get hungry a few days afterward, but I didn't get real hungry until I started soft foods three weeks out.

    Just A Question

I could eat it up to a certain point then once I got tighter I couldn't. I love bisquits and gravy and garlic toast, but I got used to not being able to eat them. Once you get stuck on bread once, you won't miss the bread one bit.
