  1. I was looking online for some good meal replacement protein bars, and ran across Jim's Permalean Protein. They make bars and protein powder mix. Has anyone here tried them? Are they good? I saw some reviews that were good, and the bars themselves look good. Just curious.
  2. You are so right. I just have to keep praying.

  3. Cool. Thank you for that. I will have to update to give proper credit.

    supplemental protein

I got the ready-made EAS shakes that have 25g of protein and 210 cal. in them, and they are so gross. I've been looking for something I can put in plain water (b/c I don't like flavored water like the Special K protein water things) that will mix up good and doesn't have a taste or isn't gritty. Anyone know of a good one?

    Whey Protein

Can the human body absorb that much protein at one time? I heard that the body can only absorb so much protein at a time like 20g or so. I was thinking about getting some whey protein, but I was curious about this.
  6. I'm sorry ya'll are feeling bad. I didn't feel like eating for at least two weeks after surgery so I cannot help there. I started getting a little hungry after I started soft foods, but it hasn't been bad. The worse was probably the morning after my first fill. I was used to eating real food for the past week, and I had to go back on full liquids after the fill. It does get better though.

    Don't underestimate...

I went for my first fill on Tueday, and I talked with the nutritionist about my worries. I told her that I maybe get in 45g of Protein a day. She asked me my height, and then she told not to worry to much about it. She said they recommend 50-60g a day. They do not like you to eat snackes so I will have to get my protein during my three meals. The only problem is I love eating Cereal for breakfast (Special K original), and it doesn't have much protein in it. Maybe 15g total with milk. What protein breakfast bars are good? I like the Special K bars, but I don't know of any other good ones.

    1st fill...

I got my first fill on Tuesday. It did hurt a little. They didn't numb me, but it wasn't nothing to bad. Mine was under fluro, and I got 4.2 cc. The worst part is going back on full liquids for 2 days. I hate protein shakes (well just the EAS ones).
  9. Thank you. It was on our church bulletin one Sunday a fews years back, and I just loved it. I don't think it had anyone's name beside it so I don't know.

  10. I was concerned about not getting enough Protein, so I asked the nutritionist about it yesterday. She said we tell people to try to get 60g a day in, but if you don't don't worry about it. She asked how tall I was and I told her I only get like 45g or so. She told me that was fine for my height. I asked her about the protein shots, etc. and she told me I didn't need them that I could get all I needed through my food. I know doctors are different so I guess I won't worry as much if I don't get in 60g per day. My question is how do all ya'll get in your protein with no snacking? They told me no snacking when I get to eating solid food. Protein shakes are no fun so I don't drink them unless I've had a fill.

Going in for first fill today

I got my first fill yesterday, and he put 4.2 cc in. He didn't put any in during my surgery. It was under fluro, and I don't think he numbed it because it hurt pretty badly. It only took maybe 5 minutes total, and it did feel a little weird with the stuff going in. I am STARVING today. Is this normal? I have to be on liquids for 2 days then mushies for 2 days, but I am really hungry today. I got some EAS shakes that have 25g of Protein, and those things are nasty. I'm going to drink them because they were expensive, but they are gross. Anyway, I knew I should have got the Atkins ones, but oh well. Sorry for my rant.

    Butter?

I like the Smart Balance kind, but nothing beats the real stuff :scared2:.

    Don't underestimate...

How do you get that much protein in with not being able to eat a lot at each meal? Do you eat Snacks? This will be my biggest hurdle when I get filled. I just don't know how I will get all my protein in. I'm scared!
  14. I have only been overweight for 5 years, but I knew I had a problem with food ever since I graduated high school and quit playing sports. I also have to be a bridesmaid in my cousin's October wedding :frown:. I want to look better than I did at my brother's wedding a couple years back.
  15. Sorry to be so gross, but I am having a rough time with using the bathroom. I was banded on Feb. 8. I used the bathroom about a week later (diarrhea). I had diarrhea again a few days later. Then I didn't use the bathroom for about a week and a half. When I finally did use it. I was on the toilet 6 times within an hour and a half, and I think I pooped out all my insides or if felt like it. My stomach hurt so bad. I felt like I was going to die. It even made me throw up. I felt awful afterwards that I had to go home for the rest of the day. Well that was the last time I used the bathroom until today. The same thing happened. I was on the toilet for an hour. Like I said it was very painful, and I threw up my Breakfast this time as well. I get so weak after this, and I had to miss work today as well b/c I felt so bad afterward. I turn white as a ghost. I don't know what in the world is happening. I never used the bathroom regularly before surgery, but this feels like I am dying. I guess my body is still getting used to everything since it has only been 4 weeks and 1 day, but this is horrible. Did anyone have any pooping issues like this? Sorry again for being so gross, but I don't know what is happening!
  16. How in the world are ya'll getting in all your protein/nutrients if ya'll are eating 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of food? That is not a lot of food. I don't want to drink my calories. Are ya'll drinking your calories?

    disappointed this week

Wow. You are doing great with your weight loss. Thank you for the help.

    disappointed this week

Yep. I've stalled as well. I was banded on Feb. 8, and I've lost 21 pounds. I lost 10 lbs. the first week, 5 lbs. 2nd and 3rd week, and last week 1 pound. It does slow, and I too was a little disappointed, but this time is for healing not losing weight.

    sore port?

My port area is still a little sore/tender, and I am 4 1/2 weeks removed from surgery. Mine is kinda under my breast so that may be why.

    Special k drinks

I do like them, but they have like 18g of sugar. You might want to watch out for that.
  21. I thought you could eat 1 cup of food per meal? 1 cup is 8 oz. so were suppose to eat a little over half a cup of food instead of 1 cup? The paperwork my doctor gave me said 1 cup of food per meal.

    Side Abdomen Discomfort

I have been having cramps in that area. They aren't painful, but I don't know what it is. They come and go.
  23. SparkPeople is a good online food journal. That is what I use.
  24. Lord, I hope chicken and hamburger sit well with me b/c I'm a picky eater, and that is about all I eat. I don't like steak just hamburger meat so hopefully my stomach will be able to handle it.
  25. That does sound like me! I usually went evey 3rd day as well. I know before surgery when I could eat my Cereal, the Splenda would make me go (sometimes). I heard coffee will make you go, but I don't like it. Also, I didn't use the bathroom for over a week after surgery. Then it was diarrhea on the liquid stage, and now this.
