what cant u eat anymore????
JJLaw08 replied to dowhatitdo1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 6 cc in my band (I go for a fill tomorrow), but I really haven't had any problems. I can still eat whatever I want. I'm sure that will change once I hit restriction. I still haven't learned to eat slower and take smaller bites, but I think that will come. -
A thread for those quickly approaching onederland

I weighed 211 this morning. I have not been in the one's in like 5-6 years so I will be glad when I get there again. My goal in Feb. when I had surgery was to be under 200 lbs. by the time my cousin's wedding roles around. Her wedding is in October so I should accomplish my goal! -

Trouble sleeping...and moving on up...
JJLaw08 replied to tnwhite2001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had trouble sleeping for about 2 weeks after surgery. I took Tylenol PM, and it worked great. It doesn't take much to knock me out though so one pill was enough for me. -
I used to have heartburn almost daily before being banded, but ever since I've been banded, I haven't had any heartburn problems. I guess it depends on the individual.

Usually toasted bread goes down easier. Regular bread seems to expand once it goes down or something like that so it gets stuck easier. I have had 3 fills (6 cc), and I am starting to tell bread doesn't sit well. I take bigger bites than I should, and it doesn't get stuck, but it hurts going down. Usually supper isn't as bad, but if I eat a sandwich for lunch it is worse.

How do you pace your drinking?
JJLaw08 replied to marykb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is weird. I've never heard of water or liquids for that matter stretching the pouch or causing a slip. If that is the case, I'm screwed. I had to gulp a bottle of water this afternoon because I was outside working and got to hot . -
what do you do for exercise?
JJLaw08 replied to jllybean1982's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You know Tae Bo is really fun. I haven't done that in a long time so maybe I need to start again. I have been running on the treadmill, and walking at an incline on the treadmill. -
Be careful with sleep aids. PM or Benedryl type stuff!

I have a spastic stomach (no problems with this the last year or so), and my doctor told me not to take anything like Advil, etc. even though that seems to help my headaches more than Tylenol. Luckily, I have not had many headaches since I started drinking more water. -
Well I can tell you none of that has happened to me. Everything tastes just as good as it ever did. Ya'll are lucky.
-
I don't. I get going on it for a day or two, but get tired of doing it.

I have been on birth control for years due to irregualr menstrual cycles. I don't know if it contributed to my weight gain before surgery, but I do notice I tend to eat more the week prior to starting or I get the urge to eat when I know I'm not hungry.

Restriction-What is it to you?
JJLaw08 replied to Jilly29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got my 3rd fill on Tuesday (6 cc in a Realize Band), and it has done nothing for me. I can eat just about as much as I want, but I do try to limit myself. I can eat bread, and I still can take big bites without any troubles. I ate 1 cup of Special K cereal this morning at 7:40. My stomach was growling at me at 11:00 a.m. Is this ever going to get better or is there something wrong with my band? -
I'm just kidding of course, but I just got my third fill today and I don't feel any different. I have the Realize Band with 6 cc in it. I can feel a little bit as my doctor puts the saline in, but afterwards I feel like I can eat anything. I do liquids for the rest of the day after a fill and then the following day. I just drank my protein shake in like 5 minutes. How long is it going to take to reach restriction and actually feel like the thing is in there? I'm very impatient .

Does weight loss speed up once you hit restriction?
JJLaw08 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am wandering because I am in a wedding this coming October, and I have to get fitted for my dress soon. I have had two fills, and I have lost 10 lbs. in between my first and second fill and 8 lbs. so far in between my second and third fill. I go tomorrow to get my third fill. Will that weight loss stay the same once I hit restriction or could it speed up? I know everyone is different, but I'm afraid my dress will be to big since I don't know what I will be like come October. If I lose 10 lbs. per month that may be another 40 lbs. I have lost by then. I don't know what to do. -
Not Loosing and FRUSTERATED!!!

I'm kinda mad at myself. I go for my third fill this afternoon, and I weighed this morning, and I'm down 4-5 lbs. I weighed about 2 days ago, and I was down 8 lbs. for the month. I'm mad because we threw my cousin a graduation party last night, and I ate too much. Now I'm up three lbs., and I'm afraid to go get my fill because I don't know what the doctor will say. He isn't mean or anything, and probably won't say much, but I'm mad at myself for eating too much last night. Sorry. I had to vent. -
Does weight loss speed up once you hit restriction?
JJLaw08 replied to JJLaw08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I have like 2-3 more weeks before I have to go get fitted. I don't if it is my cousin wanting to get them fitted this early or if the David's Bridal requires it. I think the dress is flowy so maybe that will be better. -
I was loving not feeling hungry either, but about 3-4 weeks after surgery, my appetite returned. It was fun while it lasted

Will it always hurt to burp? (not PB, just burp)
JJLaw08 replied to CathyBFromGa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hum, I never had that problem. -
How do you keep from not losing too much weight on your face
JJLaw08 replied to 4weightlosssake's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My face will always be chubby. It was that way in high school when I was somewhat skinny. I have puffy cheeks and a round face. I don't think mine is going anywhere, but we shall see. It will get smaller, but I don't think I'll ever look gaunt in the face. -
The ThinkThin bars are good, but they have like 220 calories. They sell some at Kroger here in Alabama.

What is really the cause of PB, and how often do you get it?
JJLaw08 replied to mimirae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm over 3 months out from surgery, and have had 2 fills. I have not yet had this experience. I think it depends on how tight you are, etc. -
Cool thread. I loved to eat, but I always played sports. I was active and could eat like that, but then I went through a bad breakup with my ex-fiance. I didn't start really gaining weight until I was a Sophmore in college. I thought I don't want any other guy to treat me that way so I will eat. Well I stopped blaming him for my weight gain, but I didn't stop eating. I dieted on and off for a few years with diet pills. I lost 40 pounds with those, but when I went off them the weight came back on. I then decided I wanted to look good in my cousin's upcoming wedding, and I knew I would have health problems later down the line so I decided to have the surgery. I'm glad I did so far.

How did you make your final decision??
JJLaw08 replied to mimirae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This probably sounds crazy, but I have to be in a wedding this coming October so that is one reason I decided to go ahead. I know there is health problems in my family, and I know I wouldn't be able to do this through diet and exercise alone. I knew I would be self-pay so I had surgery within 1 month of having my lab work, consultation, etc. done. I didn't have to do a pre-diet or anything like that since my insurance wouldn't pay. Everything moved fast for me, but I was glad it did! -
Disappointed..25 days post-op
JJLaw08 replied to Littlehouse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Believe me it will get better. I was banded Feb. 8 and have lost around 34 lbs. I got my second fill this past Wednesday, and it has done nothing for me. I can eat like a horse. I know it takes a few fills to get restriction, but hang in there. It will get better.
