HELP!! ABNORMAL ACNE AND I'M 26!! I NEED A SOLUTION!
JJLaw08 replied to TheNewStephy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm having the same issue. I had a few blackheads in high school and never really any problems. The past month or two, I have be breaking out a lot more. I'm starting to think it is hormones or something. I use an acne wash, but they still come back. They are painful. I would love some ideas as well. -
So, here's the issue.....
JJLaw08 replied to gotmyeyeontheprize's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow. That seems a little extreme to me. If I couldn't eat hamburger meat or pork, I wouldn't hardly be eating anything. I love chicken but it can get old. I am a picky eater. I don't like seafood or tofu or stuff like that. Luckily my doctor doesn't ask me what I eat. -
Post Op eating - What will it feel like?
JJLaw08 replied to rktaurus71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck on your surgery. You will do great. My orders was full liquids for about 2 weeks. Then mushie for 1 week. Then soft foods for one week, and then slowly graduating to heavier foods. My doctor didn't require a pre-op diet except for clear liquids the day before the surgery. I wasn't hungry until I started eating soft foods. I got full on a Protein shake. It's not bad. -
I went for a fill yesterday, and my doctor put in half a cc. I drank some Water right after, and it seemed to go down even though it did gurgle. I did a Protein shake last night for supper, and it seemed to go down fine. This morning was a different story with the Protein Shake. It was somewhat uncomfortable drinking that this morning. I think it took me a good 30 minutes to get the whole 11 oz. down. Am I too tight or should it calm down in the next few days? I have had like 7 or 8 fills, and this is the first time it felt tight in the morning. Usually I can eat my Protein Bar first thing in the morning without any problems. Also, I am needing help with what to eat for lunch, and what to eat for supper if I happen to not cook that night?
-
My previous fills have been the same way. I may be getting close to restriction though so we will see. What does everyone eat for lunch? I have been eating basically the same thing, but it doesn't always have enough Protein.

I have been banded since Feb., but I have been having trouble figuring out what to eat for lunch and supper (on the nights I don't cook). I will tell you that I don't like tuna, cottage cheese, and things like that. I'm kinda a picky eater so I don't like a lot of foods. I sometimes eat leftovers, but that sometimes doesn't go down easy. So what is a typical lunch like? I get to go home every day for lunch so that helps as well.

He does recommend two days on liquids. I have to be honest that after the previous fills, I was eating real food within a day. I'm not going to attempt that this time.

I need a kick in the butt!!!
JJLaw08 replied to The Favorite's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded in Feb. I have been to the doctor at least once a month since then, and I have gotten a fill every time. I'm up to like 7 or 8 fills. Does your doctor not do this? -
Question for someone who knows about Insurance
JJLaw08 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am probably making a big deal over nothing, but I was self-pay for my surgery. The doctor charged me $3000 for the surgery, and that included free fills for the first year. Well, they have been billing my insurance, which is fine, but the insurance isn't suppose to pay anything. I have finally met my deductible this past time I went to get a fill, and I received a claim report saying the total paid to the provider was $54.40 (out of $100 he charges for a fill). I don't have to pay the balance because he writes that off so I have two questions. 1. Are they suppose to be billing my insurance whenever my insurance is not suppose to pay for those services? This may actually be helpful whenever I am no longer covered after my first year of free fills. I don't know how his office is billing it. 2. Is he getting paid twice for something I've already paid for? If so, that kinda makes me mad because he has already been paid for the first year fills. Then again, I probably shouldn't be mad because I pay enough to the insurance company so it's nice to see them actually paying for something. I know I'm making a big deal probably over nothing, but I figured someone here would know. -
Question for someone who knows about Insurance
JJLaw08 replied to JJLaw08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also, I don't know if this is important, but I have had like 7 fills so far. I think this was only the third claim report my insurance company sent me, so are they not billing my insurance every time? -
Question for someone who knows about Insurance
JJLaw08 replied to JJLaw08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, the overall surgery and hospital stay total like $11,500. The hospital got about $7,000 of that, and the doctor got $3,000. I'm not sure what the rest went towards. I believe I received something stating that the fills were included in the first year, but it has been a little while so I will have to check for sure. -

JJLaw08 replied to JJLaw08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It says surgery on the claim report. Also, it was $3,000 not $30,000. If it were $30,000 I would be even more irritated. I did call the office this morning, and the lady got a little perturbed with me. I guess I didn't like her tone so I got a little ill with her. I asked her 3 or 4 times if he was getting paid twice. She said no he is not, but why is he getting the $54? She said the $3000 was the price of the surgery, and that he included the fills for a year as a courtesy. -
Drinking while eating???
JJLaw08 replied to extraonme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh yes. It does hurt. Once you get tighter, you will not be drinking while you eat. -
What Kind of Vitamins do you take?
JJLaw08 replied to mbranham0306's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get the Target brand Flintstones chewables. They are kinda nasty. I take one per day. I also need to start back taking my calcium. -
I am at exactly 200 lbs. as of this morning. I go to the doctor tomorrow so maybe it will be 199 .

I have been having worse vision the last month or so. I don't know if it is just my vision getting worse ( I have had bad vision ever since I was little) or if it has to do with the surgery. I'm getting blood work done as well to see if everything is okay in that regard.

What do you drink instead of coke?
JJLaw08 replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink water and Milo's Splenda tea. -
I have noticed for the past month or so that I get stuck really, really easily. I eat a Protein bar for Breakfast, and that goes down just fine. lunch and dinner seem to give me the most trouble. I feel I am eating slow enough because it takes me like 30 mintues to eat a small portion. My food is cold by the time I get finished eating. I may be taking to big of bites, but I chew to mush. It could be the foods I am eating, but I cannot figure out what to eat for lunch. That is a work in progress. It is frustrating because it hurts like heck!

I cannot say that I was totally prepared before surgery because mine was basically spur of the moment. I decided in January to go visit the doctor (even though I knew in December of last year that I wanted to have surgery). I had all my labs/tests done that very same day. A couple weeks later I visitied the doctor, and we set a date. Two weeks later I was banded. So in about one month (on Feb. 8), I went from not having a band to having a band. It was a very fast process, and I have lost 51 pounds. I couldn't be happier. I'm not perfect, and I eat things I'm not suppose to, but it is a process. It will get better. I did read up on everything, and I checked out this site beforehand so that helped me. I have to say it has been an easier process than I expected. I was afraid of not being able to eat chicken or some of my favorite foods or throwing up a lot, but it hasn't been bad.

does everyone feel restriction already a few days post op?
JJLaw08 replied to feelfat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, enjoy it while it lasts. I was good until I started eating soft foods. Now I am patiently waiting for restriction. I go for my fifth fill this coming Wednesday so maybe that will do the trick. -
Yikes, got my first fill...4cc in a 10cc band...no restriction, help me!
JJLaw08 replied to keeping the faith's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had 4 fills with 7 cc in a Realize band, and I'm not at restriction. I don't know if I'm near yet because I haven't had much trouble eating. It can be frustrating, but I think it will be worth it when we get restriction. -
Question for Realize Banders
JJLaw08 replied to monkeymama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on Feb. 8. I have had 4 fills with 7 cc total. I still do not have restriction. I can still eat a lot more at one sitting than I should. I thought this last one would do the trick, but it hasn't so far. I have lost 45 pounds, and I feel great, but not at restriction yet. I heard it takes longer with the Realize band to reach restriction. -
Does Band Tighten Over Time??
JJLaw08 replied to delta27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine has loosened over time. Usually 2 weeks after a fill I can start to tell I can eat more. -
How do I break through a plateau?
JJLaw08 replied to caricap's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Prayer absolutely will help. I think I may have hit a plateau, but I'm not eating the right foods so that is the reason. Keep praying and keep pushing! -
How Often Do You Get An Adjustment?
JJLaw08 replied to uscgal97's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first fill was approx. 6 weeks after surgery. He put in 4 cc. I then go once a month until I hit restriction. He has put 1 cc in each time after the first fill. I have 7cc in now, and I don't think I'm at restriction. I cannot wait until I get there. It is frustrating.
