I also have heard of that as well, its possible it could be to much of a fill. I had a friend that tricked her band somehow, such as having a complete unfill and then waited a few weeks went back got a small fill and felt more restriction then she has ever felt before she got the unfill and from there she was able to lose all her weight because she was hardly ever hungry i guess she found her sweet spot. So maybe that might work for you, it worth a shot.

@ Caitlin, I understand your frustrations perfectly I too am struggling. Ever since I got the band I been having nothing but complications and my surgeon also suggested that she would remove the band and do a gastric sleeve. However I am not up for another surgery when I am so close to my goal. You have to ask you self if you are really ready to put your body through another surgery? How much have you lost since you got banded and what is you goal? if you are really far from your goal than maybe the Gastric Sleeve can help but I would also address the food addiction issue because no matter what surgery you may have if you don't address that issue it can really hinder your weight loss. I wish you well on your journey and don't give up cause we are all in this together!

Hey everyone so I got the lap band on Feb 10th 2010 and I only had 1 successful fill. So far I went from 261 pounds to 208. I been feeling really frustrated because I was told about 6 months ago that my port had flipped over and I'm finally going to have a revision. I really didn't think this would happen to me and I don't want to go under the knife again. My surgeon said that I have to go under all the way is that true??

Im currently experiencing that now and Zantac has been helping me and I also have not been eating late I don't eat past 730pm. Hope this helps!

4 days post op & often feel the need to take deep breaths
Jenjen312 replied to ChopswyfT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah I had that same problem after surgery, I just thinks it one of the side effects from the surgery. -
I know that feeling all too well. Congrats on the surgery, but as for the gas, it going to take a few days, but what helped me get through it was the chewable tablets called Gas-x and walking helped a lot. Hope this helps.

Hey everyone, has anyone had any problems getting their first fill?? I had a horrible experience today, trying to get my first fill because I have not felt any restriction and I only lost 20 lbs since my surgery day which was 2/10/2010. The physician assistant pressed and poked me with that huge needle about 8 times and still couldnt not find my port site. I left the dr. office crying my eyes out because I was in soo much pain, I could barely walk and whats worst is that I have to come back because they were unable to find my port. I need to get a flauroscopy done I was told. Has anyone ever had that before? I just dont want to experience this horrible pain again, I swear I almost punch the lady because I wanted her to stop and I am not a violent person.:cursing::frown::eek::thumbup:

Jenjen312 replied to Jenjen312's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, now that I think about it, 20 pounds is alot and I am very thankful for that, however lately I just havnt been feeling any restriction but I am eating very healthy and walking 30 minutes everyday. But its just that at times I do feel that hunger and its something that I am batteling with. Ima just keep a positive attitude and hopefully when I do get my fill everything will be ok. Thanks for the comments and your support you guys! -
BIG Embarassing Moments - Fuel for Success
Jenjen312 replied to Mamadot's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a few embarassing moments: 1. last year I was at Universal Studios with my fiance and a few friends, and I could not fit on a roller coaster ride. The bar just would not go down and there was no click sound. A worker tried really hard to make the seat "Click" but it wouldnt and I had to get off the ride after I waited for over an hour in line. Everyone waiting to get on the ride saw what was going on and I was mortified! 2. I was at a Water park in Orlando about 5 yrs ago and instead of sliding down like a lightning bolt on the water slide as my friends were able to do so, I on the otherhand, got stuck and had to scoot down the rest of the way which took forever for me to finally get to the bottom and I held up the line. 3. When I was in high school, we had these smalls desks that was connected to the seat as well and the opening wasnt all that big, so in almost every class I would sit in the back because whenever it was time to leave or get up I would have to fight with the desk in order to get out of it. I hated high school and those darn seats! -
You will probably feel it about 1 to 2 days after surgery. when I got home it wasnt until the day after that I started to feel the pain from the gas. It was horrible! that was actually the worst part about the surgery. The gas traveled to my back, up my neck, shoulders and it was painful I had some pills called gas-x but it didnt work, what did work was walking..so walk, walk, walk..otherwise you will regret it. Hope this helps and good luck!

Still up in the air
Jenjen312 replied to NurseMichael's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been in your shoes, I have been over weight since childhood and I have tried countless diets and pills. I always been able to lose weight, that was never the problem, however, to keep it off was a major problem for me. For some reason I just cant maintain the weight loss myself so that is why I decided to have the lapband done because it would help me achieve long term weight loss and I am very glad I got it done. So you should talk to a surgeon in your area and see what your options are if thats what your thinking about doing. Good luck! -
I just think its your body healing from surgery, everyone heals differently and maybe you went back to school or work to soon. Also, the exhaustion is because you are not eating the same anymore so its only natural that you will feel that way, but you should trying taking the chewable multi vitamins and calcium. It took me about 4 weeks to go back to school and work because I was in alot of pain, but I do have a low tolerance for pain. Just try to take it easy and don't over do it, your body needs time to heal and adjust to the band. But if you notice any changes to your wounds/ incisions, then you should talk to your doctor incase of an infection. Good luck!

Getting band on May 3rd
Jenjen312 replied to paralia2004's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats! Its going to be the start of a new life and don't worry you are goingto be fine. I actually never had surgery before untill I got the lapband and the day of the surgery I was actually at peace because I said a prayer the night before, and my fiance came with me and I just kept thinking positve thoughts. You just have to think about the results and about how great your going to feel once you see the weight coming off. Good luck and try not to worry so much your going to be fine. -
I had a horrible experience today at the Dr. Office. I was trying to get my first fill and the Physician Assistant could not find my port. I tried doing situps, while she pressed and poked me multiple times with that long a** needle and I was sooo soar afterwards I couldnt even walk! I cried all the way home cause I was in so much pain and I never got my fill. I have to go back to get a flauroscopy done. Im actually traumatizd about this experience today and I honestly do not want to go back. My surgery was on 2/10/2010 and so far a lost 20 pounds and Im always feeling hungery, however after today I think that ima just deal with it.

No, I was never told that and actually I was told to stay away from bread but if I had to eat it I should eat whole wheat bread and it had to be toasted.

Dr. Pratibha Vemulapalli - Anyone have Dr. Vemulapalli @ Monte?
Jenjen312 replied to ReinaDeAlcantara's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dr. Vermulapalli was my surgeon and she is so awesome and very nice, she will definitley make you feel comfortable and you can ask as many questions as you want! -
Hey, hope things are going well with you. I recently had lap band done on 2/10/2010 so far I lost 20 pounds however, I am starting to feel the hunger so hopefully I will ge a fill soon. So how are you doing?
-
Hey, im sorry to hear that some don't approve of the surgery, but this is about you and not them, and if you feel like this is your only hope than go for it. I also had family and friends who did not want me to have the surgery and I just ignored their comments. However I also had other family and friends who were totally supportive and it made me feel alot better. Good luck!
