    October 2006 Bandsters!

It's been quite a while since I visited let alone posted anything on the site so I thought to revisit the thread where it all started. It's good to see everyone doing so well, congratulations to all! Raynie, congrats on the pregnancy! :update: I have been going through a lot of changes good and bad. One of the good ones is being truck drivers (My hubby and myself)! Total change from Corporate America but It's been really fun and has brought us closer together etc... The bad is that I have gained the 40+lbs that I lost since surgery:cry. I'm aware of why this happened for ex. my routine with my food and exercise totally went out the window, I started snacking & eating more sugar laden high calorie products(lattes, frappuccinos, cakes, donuts etc..) to top it off no exercise whatsoever. It came back so quick with these things and it made me realize that the band is in fact only a tool to "assist" ME in losing weight and that I refuse to be a band failure so I've since regrouped, taken notes of what needs to be done and taken the steps to do 'em! One: of course was to come back here for encouragement, help & support (we didn't have a computer on the truck so it's been tough but we're getting a laptop very soon):whoo:Another is to make exercise a priority (I cannot succeed without it) and make it part of our schedule as we go along on our trails, also stop the snacking and the "quick" high calorie foods and shop in advance for good quality foods to have in the truck such as the little cans of tuna & salmon with the pop tops very convenient, yogurts and cottage cheese, oatmeal & canned chili (we got a microwave on board) etc.. (any other ideas or suggestions would be helpful & definatlely appreciated but this is a start in the right direction cause so far I've lost 3lbs and we just started doing this about a week ago:clap2:) Thank you all for your time and happy trails!

    October 2006 Bandsters!

I want to thank you guys for being there and supporting me. As was mentioned, while under stress I too tend to go to food and that is something that the band doesn't take away so I've definately been struggling with that. Coming back and reading all the great successes has helped because I want to be a success also so you'll be seeing more of me and less of me in a physical sense! Blessings to everyone

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Hello everyone, Haven't been on in a few months! Glad to see all the progress everyone is making. My life is at a crossroads right now and I'm running around like a chicken without a head and have been really ashamed to admit/share that some bad habits have been getting the best of me. I have really good restriction however by eating very slow have been eating too much and able to get down things I know I shouldn't be eating. I haven't gained any weight thank goodness but if I continue to make this process a habit I'm afraid that this surgery would have been in vain. I hate to bring down the positive mode of the thread but I really needed to get this out and hope for some feedback to help get me focused again.

Hey there pumpkin! I too experienced sharp shoulder pain which through this website was made aware beforehand. When in surgery you are pumped up with lots of air in order for them to see what they're doing. The pain was terrible and you just have to wait it out. Drink plenty of Water and take some of the pain meds you were given. That helped me get by.:nervous It will get better. Good luck!

    eating crap - sabotage myself?!

Thank you so much for your honesty! I have been feeling this way already and I'm only 3 weeks banded! I was ashamed of saying anything to anyone because I'm "supposed" to be hyped with motivation right? Well, that lasted the 1st 2 weeks when just a Protein shake held me over to the point where I had to force myself to eat later on to get my protein in for the day then my appetite came back with a vengeance :hungry: and I started mindlessly picking on things like you said, "worthless". No type of nutritional value. Worse of all, now I know that certain things that were supposed to be taboo because they would not go down well have and so the fear factor is no longer there. I think I may be due for a fill way sooner than scheduled. I need all the support I can get til then:help: Thanks again for helping me be able to get this off my chest:hug:

    October 2006 Bandsters!

Hi puglet I too felt the exact same way sad and then much better on soft. However, since then, I am very scared. I don't trust myself because I have overeaten a few times and that's not cool and certainly doesn't feel good either. It's like my appetite came back in full blast and even though I know that I have an empty band I feel this can't be a good start. I think I need a fill pronto but it's not going to happen until my 1mth appt. Is there anyone else on here that feels this I need some serious support guys:paranoid

Hey Cootie how's everything? I use body oil when I'm done with my shower then dry off and no itch! Also, a moisturizing body wash helps a bunch. Hope this helps bring the sexy back!

For VG 10 cc Bandsters ONLY

Hi all! I'm 10 days banded and have a VG band I'm assuming unfilled is how they start out but I didn't ask so I'm not sure so far of course, I feel restricted and I hope that I'll continue to be successful with it.

Good for you purtynailz! Hope all of this weeks newbies are doing great! :clap2: I'm 10 days out and although food wise all is good (I was able to start soft proteins on the 4th day- liquids were rough for me) I am still feeling pain, some dizziness and yesterday @ my post op appt the surgeon cleared me for work!! I don't feel like I'm ready or even to drive for that matter. Don't know what else to do I'm gonna try to get in with my Primary dr to see if I can get more time. Good luck to all going in tomorrow:cheer2:

    Need some advice!!!

I'm in an office and so i get that it doesn't require heavy lifting but I feel my weakness/dizziness was not addressed and so I feel a safety issue there with even driving to work. No more vacation or personal time due to obesity related issues so you see my dilema?
