Well, next time I check in will be after I return home from being banded. Unless, I have major anxiety tonight then I may just chime in some more:paranoid . Best wishes to all October bandsters! The closer to surgery I get the more I'm looking forward to finally taking ownership of my body and health. I've begun to feel empowered by this so i'm looking forward to being powerful, responsible and accountable to myself for my health and happiness then this of course, will spill out into every other area in my life. Also, what most of you have mentioned the cute undies and clothes (especially tucking in a shirt), crossing my legs.......... I too want it all! The opportunities are endless:clap2:

As surgery day gets closer the few people that know are really insistant that I go for bypass because "you'll lose so much more weight" they tell me. I feel as if they don't respect my decision and from what I understand in the long run both end up with about the same weight loss results. Can anyone shed some light on this for me???

MarySue I am so glad you wrote what you wrote because it was precisely what I needed to hear. As the days go by and the more I read I go back and forth from really excited and empowered by my decision to scared and doubtful mainly because of the terrible stories of complications and the negativity posts that I couldn't help but read. Like you said the site is undoubtedly a good source of support and info but it can also be a hinderance. I will just continue to choose the threads that I will participate in and not allow myself to get caught up in the "other" stuff. I have to keep my energy positive and get mentally and physically prepared for B- Day! 9 Days till Band Day are you stoked??? Here's to our new journeys:whoo: I wish you the best! Hugs and Kisses!

Thanks! Coyotegirl that is sweet. Cyndiwilson I'm having surgery at Scottsdale Healthcare Hospital. I too am nervous and excited and elated.... It just depends on the hour. I wish you, all AZ Bandsters and Oct. Newbie Bandsters all the best!

Lots2Luv replied to tiredepot's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey tiredepot I am going to be banded 10/9 so I can totally relate. However, I did extensive research and spoke with a couple of specialist in this area enough to where I felt comfortable. Like you I am healthy meaning I don't have any of the illnesses possible for being obese but I am in the category of morbidly obese so as far as the gall bladder thing you wouldn't have to worry(I'm not a Doc just going off of my info) and for the erroding, that's one of the chances that you take with this because you never know if it'll happen to you. It's not like there's something that one does to cause that to happen, you know? So that is one of the risks and I am willing to take that risk with hopes that it won't happen. If it does, what they would do is remove the band- so yeah, more surgery. -
Ok so I'm not trying to freak you out but have you asked your Dr. how many band procedures he's performed? Something is not adding up. Go to the 'Food' Forum on here and you will get an idea of what is suggested and if you meet with your Doc soon bring this to his attention see what he says. Wishing you the best, Lots2Luv

Ladyred sorry to hear about the hernia:( . As for me I will be out the same day. How weird that they didn't suggest the liquid diet AT ALL oh well, like I said all Dr.'s and Programs differ I would suggest following your Dr.'s advice. They did however, have you lose some weight before surgery right? It serves the same purpose as your friend suggested so that the fat in your liver will be less and it will be easier for them to perform the surgery. I hope you will be released soon after. I will be looking to hear from you!
-
Ladyred usually 2 weeks out they have you start on a clear liquid diet. All Dr.'s and programs seem to differ so I was wondering if they had you start yours this week or do you have to do it days before? By the way, are you going home the same day or will you be staying in the hospital? We can do anything we put our minds to here's to our health and soon to be new bodies!!!!
-
LadyRed you and I will be banded on the same day! I questioned my decision as well only because I let others plant the seed of doubt. Once I sat with myself I was convinced that I was doing the right thing for me. Are you starting your liquid diet this week? 2 weeks 'til "band day"! We'll have to keep each other posted

I bet that was a good feeling we need more Palisades!!!! I'm gonna make a trip out there just so I could feel like a majority and not a minority:p

I am also a shopaholic so I have a list! Since you're looking for something to wear a short while definately shop sales 'cause you'll probably be giving them away shortly. H&M in NYC has great clothes and nice prices, Old Navy goes up to a size 20, Torrid.com for funky wear, Zaftique.com...... Happy shopping!

What are you guys eating for protein?
Lots2Luv replied to MariaR.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I haven't been banded yet. Scheduled for 10/9 however, I have been in with the units nutritionist she suggests along with eggs & meat (which is hard to swallow at times unless, as BOH mentioned, you put it in a crockpot) Lowfat/nonfat cheeses, cottage cheese and yogurt. If you're struggling with these things then the Protein shakes is a definate plus! Good luck! -
Hey AZ Bandster's! I live in Maricopa and I'm scheduled for surgery 10/9. I am new to the site so I'm just getting the hang of posting replys and all so if you can offer some feedback that would be great! I feel this is a great way to connect and stay abreast of band info. Oh, can anyone help with some coping ideas for pre-op anxiety? I tend to eat anxiety away but I don't want to hurt my chances and gain weight so I'm losing my mind!

I didn't get a chance to see the pics it looks like they have been removed/deleted. Is there anywhere else I can view the pics? I myself will need a tummy tuck in the future and so I'm curious to see your transformation

A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?
Lots2Luv replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks Blue I appreciate it! -
I totally understand the husband thing. I've been contemplating Bariatric surgery for about 6 years now and all this time I've been working on my husband to come around. This year I made up my mind and decided that with or without his support I was going to do this for me! When I presented him with this I also confirmed the fact that heart disease also runs in my family, diabetes etc... and since I had been depressed for a while I also asked him what would he rather? - A healthier, happier wife or an overweight depressed wife with all sorts of health complications? That brought it home and I was grateful that he finally realized that it's not about me wanting to fit into "The little Black Dress" it's me wanting to have a healthy, happy and good quality of life! P.S. In the long run if I happen to fit into that little black dress well, guess who will be all gaga about that??????:eyebrows: Enough said!

A thread for super-sized bandsters - starting BMI over 50?
Lots2Luv replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgery is scheduled for 10/9. My starting weight was 270 BMI 51. I'm now 263 not sure of BMI and hoping I can lose another few lbs b4 surgery!! Very nervous about that. -
Thanks so much! As surgery grows closer I find myself getting a bit anxious and wanting to snack the anxiety away. This is one of my challenges pre and post op. I've been sort of talking myself out of it and made it through today. Any suggestions???
-
Thanks to all of you for sharing. Like Sugarplum said I'm doing this for me not for them and I have to live with my own decision. I feel this is what's best for me and I'm going for it!
