Hi Jayne If im honest i was starving about the 5th to 6th day and couldn't cope with only drinks so started having Soups yoghurts etc and by second week was eating stew and cous cous as long as it was soft it was fine, and i got a lot of backing up and pain but now i can eat most things and since the first fill had hardly any backing up very strange, but i understand it takes time and can't wait for my next fill and hope i get to restriction then or somewhere near it anyway. I too felt really strange after the op was like a sink plug hole could hear and feel everything going down lol but after a few weeks u get to know how the bands working and start to work with it and im happy i ve never lost 20lb on a diet in 2 months but i have with the band and it feels great I miss fresh bread to and i could kill a sandwich at times but u get used to it and some days I can manage fresh bread but not often, u'll be fine hun and everyone is great on here always willing to help each other out, and 10lb in 10 days is fantastic keep up the good work Julie xx -

Oh Hun I can eat most things apart from bread but like everyone is saying im still having to work hard at it and i think to myself i spent all this dosh im gonna make it work for me so im careful and i must say apart from the odd blip i tend to go for the healthier options but am a bit addicted to cheesy wotsits at the min better than chocolate i suppose . I would like to know tho i had sausage and an egg tonight which was a bit greasy i could only eat a mouthful and felt violently sick and threw it away as any one else had this or maybe its because its the first time since the op and my bodys rejecting it thoughts on this would be interesting. Dont worry wannabe all ur doubts and worries will be far outweighed once you have ur op, I was so scared before mine i seriously considered doing a runner from the theatre but knew id regret it and im so glad i stayed now, im going for my 2nd fill on 8th July in manchester so hope i might get some restriction then, lots of love Julie xx -

Oh Dear you are all being so negative lol, we all think that along the way but believe me it does work and it will be the best thing you ever did TRUST Me, my lucks awful so if anything was going to go wrong it would have to me lol but im fine 19lb down and chuffed to bits gone from size 20 to a 16 and today i got called sexy by a couple of blokes in a van lol that made my day i know im so sad!! So girls please dont worry everything will be fine and i promise you the thought of having the op is much worse than the reality, I had my 1st fill last thurs 3mls and hasn'rt made any diff at all but booked again for 8th of july for another, so just remember patience is a virtue it takes time and lots of work but you'll do it and you wont look back Julie xxxxxxx -

Hi I'm sorry but i totally disagree with u u should never have gone ahead with the surgery if u had a pre existing condition, I researched this op thoroughly for a year before going ahead and as a nurse myself pancreatitis is easy to diagnose as if u have an acute attack it will show up in a blood test and as the symptoms are very well known in the medical profession i cant see it would be missed i also have a friend who is also a nurse who workes on a bariatric ward and asked her about this and there is no concrete evidence to support ur claims therefore if u have nothing constructive to say and u have no evidence based proof to support what ur saying it would be better for u to keep quiet, as people dont want to hear others scare mongering, and im sure out of all the people on here u wont find any who have now suddenly started suffering from pancreatitis, I hope all goes well with ur condition Ps JOjo amazing weight loss u go girl im 17lb down now going for a fill next week hopefully xxxx -

Hi Sussie I was fine with scrambled eggs just chew well i had my first sunday roast this week and all went done well although a fraction of what i would usually have, i've also been eating the chedders biscuits the plain ones but using philadelphia light on then with no problem too be honest hun i can eat most things but not bread that gets stuck somethin chronic and is not nice at all lol, i eat a lot of cous cous with a vegetable and chicken stew too and morrisons do the crisp bakes hun. went for a check up at my gp today and she was so impressed with how good my scars were and commented on what a fantastic job dr chris had done and also on how thorough and comprehensive his report was she even said she wished she could recommend him lol so i told her about this site and she will be forwarding patients this way so if thats not a big tick for having the op i dont know what is . good luck to everyone having their bands done this week thinking of u all Julie x -

Hi all english and freckles first lol right here goes as a nurse myself we are always told we are accountable for our actions and our main duty is to cause no harm, well im sorry but the fact is ur both having to have revision surgery which as far as im concerened is causing harm through negligence as such, not to mention the out of pocket expenses, so please if it is found that the port or tubing has been damaged by having the fills then keep hold of it and dont let the bupa hospitals do there own tests get it done idependently through ur solicitors, i wish u both the very best of luck with it they will try and fob u off but keep fighting. Sussie hun looks like u,ve covered all the bases there lol but take tea bags hun just a few tho good luck hun u wont regret it for a second, let us all know how it goes i'll be thinking of u x Slinky hi hun, im great thanks stitches r out wounds are healing nicely and im back at work so all good and i've lost 12lb so im very pleased def was the best decision i ever made, just that the old appetite is coming back a bit now and this will power think is a hard one to grasp lol but hopefully getting a fill in a couple of weeks hope that will help Julie xx -

Hi English rose I was just wondering the fact u had fills at ur local bupa hospital and nowhere else, cant u put in a claim against them if it is the port tubing that is damaged by a needle, i know a lady in the next bed to me was given her band in a pot just thinking if u can get hold of the damaged port and tubing it might be worth putting in a claim against them as at the end of the day all ur fills will have been documented and think it would at least be worth a try considering how much out of pocket ur going to be someone should be held accountable, best of luck hun and with the surgery Julie x -

Hi english rose That really stinks hun i should imagine there is some money to be made there for him surley if the band or port is defective and its not ur fault then it should be free, i know i struggled for months to find the money for my band and dont think id be able to do it agian thats a scary thought, how long have u had the band hun? i really feel for u on this one but i hope the next band lasts u a very long time, when do u go for the reband? julie x -

Hi English rose andSussie When i spoke to dr chris he stated if their was any problem with port or band it would be replaced free of charge that i would only have to pay for hospital stay medications but i think this was only on the understanding that all follow up and fills were with him, if u have to pay again i think that sucks it s hard enough finding the cash to pay the first time i really feel for u english thats really not fair and if i remember rightly when gary s port was punctured his was replaced free i think maybe u should speak to gary or ask a few more questions cause it all seems a little unfair to me hope things work out for u hun Julie x -

Thanks freckles and scooby That makes me feel better im like should i eat should i not have had a couple of crackers tonight and a sugar free jelly and that was enough have this weird feeling in my throat now so think that means i ve had enough dont want to push it and be sick, im still a little sore but puncture sights are very itchy now so i know their healing well, yes scooby gas pain is a bit of a bugger at the min but the co codamol are taking care of it for now and its that thats giving me more grief than anything else, but i can deal with all that im on my way and so happy although pity they cant do anything about stopping the cravings lol i really want fresh crusty bread and butter i know i cant have it so want it its so mad, but i know it will get better gonna try and book my fill next week so when i need it i wont have missed out and they be fully booked, it s so good to have this site and get the brilliant advice from everyone thanks again for all ur advice Julie:thumbup: -

Hi Slinky I must say first two days were quite painful, as for the needles u have a blood test on morning of surgery and then another on the evening and one more the morning u leave, then also two clexane injections to thin the blood but honestly they were very good and these were more or less painless, on the third day my pain was much better and im feeling loads better now a little sore but nothing to moan about and for all u girls going soon dr c has started doing a new procedure where u only have 4 tiny half inch cuts and the the port one which is about 1 half inches apparently they used to be bigger so thats good news, i do have a question for the longer bandsters tho since the op whenever i burp sorry lol but i have like an air bubble travel up then like pop and also when i drink i wouldn't say it was pain but like a trickle then a full feeling then a pop lol only way i can explain it is this the Fluid moving through the band into the stomach and is it normal strange feeling at first but u get used to it, its always worst in the morning i suppose cause the band is tighter then, slinky im really pleased lost 9lb so far 5 before and 4 since so to me its already worth it supposed to be back at work wed hopefully each day will be better than the one before and ill be ok to go back, im really surprised that i have hardly any bruising at all oh and i forgot to say u do need to have 5 clexane injections when u leave to do urself daily but honestly they are painless just give them slowly and u shouldn't feel anything, and dont take loads with u u wont need it, i stayed in the gown during my stay as first day they wont let u out of bed anyway and next day tests are all done quite quickly so u can get dressed ready to leave after that, my tummy was really swollen tho so make sure whatever u take is really baggy before u go, u'll be much more comfortable, hope this helps hun anything else u want to know give me a shout Julie x -

hi sussie im a bit of a wimp with pain but during the hospital stay they give u painkillers and supply u with paracetamol and anti sickness for when u leave i must admit i did nt need the anti sickness but i spoke to my gp and he gave me a painkilling patch that lasts for 7 days to put on for the journey home and also co codamol 30/500 effervesant tablets taste hideouse but did the trick, so if u can get to ur gp before u go might be worth it, i def needed painkillers for the journey back and thankfully slept ,most of the way, hope this helps anything else u need to know just give me a shout, best of luck weighed myself today 9lb down yipee Love Juliex
