PB is Productive burping. It is similiar to throwing up, but not - if food doesn't want to go down, it sometimes just comes back up before going all the way into the stomach. I really don't think I'm overly full, as I can eat breakfast and lunch with no problem, and sometimes dinner also - it's really strange. Thanks to all for the replies! :scared2:

I PB nearly every day - mostly in the evenings. I do fine all day at work - breakfast, lunch, snack, but when it comes time for supper, more times than most I get a couple of bites down and then PB several times while trying to eat. It isn't stressful or anything, usually. Just up it comes. Can someone tell me if this is harmful? I'm hoping not, since I do it so frequently. thanks to all!

WOW! That's AWESOME!!

I haven't posted any before/during pics or updates, so I thought I should. I was banded Jan 4, 2010, and have lost 60 lbs. From 287.5 to 227.5

This is exactly how I am. One time I can eat something fine, and another time, same food, and it just comes right back up. What is strange is that I almost never do this all day when I am at work . . . It isn't throwing up in any sense - just PBing. Sometimes if I wait a while, I can continue eating, and sometimes no matter how many times I try and finish eating, it just keeps coming back up! It isn't painful, and doesn't seem to be harming me, as this has been going on (off and on) for months, and isn't affecting my band (thank goodness!)

I don't have a problem with either - I eat both frequently. (Sunflower seeds--are they a nut?) : )

I have no problem at all with my gummies - they kind of "melt" in my mouth--not chewy at all!

Anyone have surgery on Jan26 2010? If so how much have you lost so far?
dlsmom1 replied to Victorid76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 1/4/10, and have lost 30 lbs so far (10 weeks out). I was hoping for more by this time, but that's what I've got. I haven't lost a pound in the last two weeks, kind of a bummer. Hoping the scale will drop a few for me soon!! -
Can I ask why your doctor took all the fluid out? I am under the impression that the band is for life, and that the fluid stays in permanently, unless, of course, you were getting way below a healthy weight. Just curious as to his reasoning. Good luck with finding out the problem!!

I take gummy multivitamins, and an off-brand of Viactiv (calcium + Vit D + K & something else :scared2: Got tired of trying to choke down the calcium + D tabs & multivitamins!

Anyone miss being able to drink with meals?
dlsmom1 replied to AnneGG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink up to 5-10 minutes before a meal sometimes. If I can, I try to make it 30 min. I took a tip from another bandster, and order a glass of ice with my meals out--just munch on it if needed during a meal, then I usually wait at least 1/2 hour after--longer if I can. -
What was your "That's it" Moment?
dlsmom1 replied to TracyNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my - this was one of my moments too - went to 6 Flags with daughter & husband, they couldn't latch the bar, had to get off the ride. Smiled and said it was ok - stood and cried while my husband and daughter took their ride. My daughter felt as sorry for me as I did myself. Tried to blow it off, act like it was no big deal . . . it was a VERY big deal. Can anyone say "humiliating"? -
I, too got a bit of an overfill 5 days ago, and nearly everything (including liquids) hurts trying to go down. I only actually threw up once, but lots of PB'ing. I'm going to go on liquids & extremely soft stuff (yogurts, etc) for a few days. I don't want to go in for an unfill--I'd like to tough it out till my next appt in 3 weeks. Can anyone tell me how you would know if you are swollen, etc? I feel fine, although I don't think I'm getting enough liquids in--I'm going to do the ff popsicles. I certainly don't want to take a chance in damaging anything, but don't feel that I have, as I feel fine when not eating : ) All of your experience and suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!

I had my second fill on Mar 1, and I am in the same situation, although I am not as much sliming as PBing, and last night a full blown throw-up while trying to eat supper. I, too had an "episode" in a restaurant the other day--won't make that mistake again!! I am trying to stick to soft, moist foods, but even drinking is uncomfortable. I, too, think I will go to soups for a while and see if that helps. I don't want to get an un-fill, I'm hoping it will loosen a little. In fairness to my MD, he was hesitant about giving me a fill, as I had lost 9 lbs last month. I felt I was doing it all on my own (working out and walking 40-45 min each - each day) and wanted a little more help. I'm going to stick it out, I just wish that nearly everything wasn't painful going down. Hang in there, CheriLynne (& everyone else) - we can do this!! :smile2:

Bandsters without restriction....
dlsmom1 replied to juliansmom2003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This post has really helped me. I was banded Jan 4, 2010, and lost 18 lbs the first month (12 of that the first week). My first fill was Feb 1, and I've only lost about 5 lbs this month. Working out 30+ min 4 days/week and walking 30-40 minutes 5 days/week is the only thing that is helping. I have no restriction, and am SO hoping that my fill on Mon, Mar 1 will help. -
I'm in the same boat! Gas all the time! (although it usually doesn't hurt, just annoying!) I did have a lot of gas prior to banding, but thought that was just because I ate so much!! I thought it would get better!!

Laughing Cow Lite is my favorite snack too!!! I put it on 4 or 5 Triscuit Thins. Yummy!!!!

Am I'm doing this right?
dlsmom1 replied to niseyb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I couldn't feel my port at first either - but after the scars went down, about 5-6 weeks in, I finally found it. I think it depends, too on how heavy you are. The thinner you get, the easier it is to feel. If I didn't know where mine was, though, I wouldn't be able to find it!! -
I just boil several eggs at the beginning of the week, and then put them in little individual snack baggies in the fridge ready to grab. String cheese to grab on the go is good too (they have low-fat & fat-free, but I still like the regular!) There are also now little 100 calorie packs of almonds - regular and a cocoa-covered version.

How much weight did you lose in the first month?
dlsmom1 replied to Brandy~'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I lost 12 lbs the first week, then about 2 lbs each week for the next three weeks. (Surgery date Jan 4, 2010) I'm now down 19.50 lbs! :sifone: -
My First Year Banded-120 pounds gone-A review
dlsmom1 replied to Makulafamy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So this is my first time reading your blog. Have you ever considered a career in journalism?! You have great writing skills. I really enjoyed it! I was banded Jan 4, 2010. I'm so hoping to be down 120 lbs a year from now . . . I am down 18 lbs so far - and I go for my first fill tomorrow. Keep on blogging! (I'm old enough to be your mom, but I still enjoy it!!) haha!! -
How strange that the doctors have different post-op eating instructions. Mine was 1 day clear liquids, days 2-8 full liquids, then soft foods . . . I never had any problems - 3 days after surgery I made some homemade vegetable-beef soup, and put mine in the blender! (yum!) I've lost 18 lbs so far (4 weeks out tomorrow - & I'm going for my first fill). Can't wait!!

I just found this thread - I live just north of Marion. I had my surgery Jan 4, 2010. There must be more Southern Illinoisians out there somewhere!

Whould I get fills on a Monday or a Friday? Does it matter?
dlsmom1 posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi all! I just got banded on Jan 4, 2010, and am looking forward to my first fill. My question is, do you find it is better to be filled on a Friday, so that you have the weekend to do some "adjusting" before returning to work on Monday, or are Monday fills ok? I'd like your opinions. I have the option of doing either, however, my physician has two offices where he does fills, one that does them the fourth Friday of the month, and one that does them the first Monday of the month. I am anxious to get my first fill, and if I choose the Monday office, I can get it on Feb 1. :cursing: If I choose the Friday office (which is a little closer driving wise), I will have to wait until Feb 26--almost another whole month. :scared2: Do you find that you need the weekend to "recover" from a fill? Thanks for your thoughts on the matter!!
