I am very early on in this journey! I have wanted surgery for 8 years and when I tried years ago I was denied by our insurance company that has an exclusion for all bariatric surgeries. I tried to get it appealed to no success and was devastated. I knew we couldn't afford it on our own, so I gave up... fast forward many years, and my husband was let go from that company and has just started working for another company that has much better health insurance that DOES cover the surgery. We are moving to Alabama for his job so that is where the surgery will be. I went to the dr. today to start my mandatory dr. led diet that I must do for 6 months prior to surgery in order to be approved for surgery. So, now I am reading all about it and am very excited and nervous too I have to admit. I love food! Hence, I am here :) I don't even overeat all the time (I mean I have my moments) I just can't seem to lose no matter what method I have tried (and they have been numerous). I am nervous about giving up food per se, but the alternative is living this way for longer and I would rather not do that. I have 2 young daughters and I want to be around to see them grow and have kids. I want to pass on right eating habits to them and help them not have to go down this road too. I want to get to ride the rides at the amusement parks!! I hate being on the sidelines so much, I want to be a part of it. Oh, there are just so many reasons I want this, that giving up food seems like a small price to pay. I thank God that things appear to be going in the direction of this surgery taking place!! So, here's to the start of the journey....
