    No restriction

I have 7cc in a 10cc band and feel the same way. Actually I am a little confused. I really thought I would feel something physically when I ate. NOPE! NOTHING! I am trying to consume less than normal. I guess my biggest fear is that I have stretched out my band or if there is something wrong with it. I guess time will tell. From what I have read it takes a while for the restriction so I am still waiting! Good luck and hang in there
  2. Well Hello there... someone in my boat. I was banded on March 8th. Lost 19 pounds pre-op. that was 19 pounds in two weeks...insane. I was so excited. Then nothing. I had gained .2 lbs the month. Wow from 19 to .2 in a month talk about a shocker. I had my first fill April 5th=5.5cc. I felt nothing. No restriction at all!!! Boy am I having a hard time with this. I have my next fill May 3rd. Unfortunately I have been reading that it can take months like many before restriction. My expectation was totally off. I knew it would not be easy but it has been hell. I try very hard to eat right and exercise but it is hard. I thought i would feel physically different so that I could work on the emotional stuff, but it has not happened for me yet. I guess the good news it that I am not giving up. I know that sometime in the future I will get that restriction and I will have control. Just hang in there you are not alone. I have changed my mind set that it took my 34 years to get this heavy it is not going to fall off in 3 months! every one of the pounds that come off I am going to give it everything I have to keep it off.
  3. Hello! I too am in the same boat. I had 5.5 cc for my first fill and nothing. It is so hard and I do have bad days but I am still trying (or should I say struggling greatly). I have to say it is nice that I am not the only one. It is not the easy fix, I guess I knew that but was hoping it would be a little bit easier than this. Hang in there. I know how discouraging it can be when you hear it will take 4-5 or even 9 fills. that is also months for me because my dr only fills about once a month or every 6 weeks. Let me know how it goes for you. Be careful and good luck!!!!

    Restriction Finally!!!!

thank you!!! I have only had one fill. I am very discouraged because I feel like I never had the surgery. I can eat anything as much as I want. I try hard to eat right but it is a struggle. So it took you like 4 months or more to feel restriction? Do you have a hard time before that?
  5. Hello1 Have not heard how you are doing? Have you had your post op visit yet? It seems to be getting harder to not eat. I have an uncle that had the procedure and he says we will for sure be able to feel a difference with the fills. I just hope I am not gaining weight. Let me know how you are doing.

  6. I saw you from Cincinnati too. Tomorrow is the big day. I just had my surgery last Monday(8th). I think the best thing for me was having someone at home to help me out. I heard that recliners are your best friend after surgery but I have a hard time with it. The gas pains are real but they do go away. It was better for me by wednesday. HAng in there and give yourself time to heal.

  7. I was wondering how you are doing? I do not know about you but I seem to have so many more questions about food then I ever have before.

  8. This sounds exactly like me. I too was banded on the 8th. I get full very quickly but I feel like I am always putting something in my mouth. Soft of course, but I have not had the stuck issue. I am a little nervous because I thought that would be a big deterrent for me not to want certain things. I too have eaten things not "exactly" on the pureed list. I know that I did not have a fill at all on the 8th so I am hoping the fill will make the world of difference. Hang in there maybe we can keep up and see if out experiences are similar.
  9. How did your surgery go? I am 4 days post op. It is not so bad. Still sore and not sure about food thing yet. I have not had a problem with food. I hope with the first fill that will change. I did have a hiatal hernia repaired, so I am not sure how that affects recovery.

I hope all is well thanks for making me a friend. I have support from family but no on ethat has gone through it.

    very BLOATED!!!!!

Does anyone's muscles burn? I also had a hiatal hernia how does this make it different pain wise?
  11. i added about 1 tsp of the gelatin. I had picked out my 14 boxes at the dr office before I tried them. Some things I could not stand and still have all but the one I tried. I ended up losing 17 lbs before surgery. So i guess it makes it worth it. I slipped a few times like I had a pickle because I needed something to crunch. It is possible to make it through just hang in there.
  12. I was told I could have I can't believe it is not butter and sugar free syrup on the pancakes.. not so bad. I really liked the vanilla shakes with jello added in (sugarfree of course). I survived you can too.
  13. Hello Lace. Surgery was fine. The gas pains they talk about afterwards are very real. It helped me to do the heating pad on my back. I did not have it in my shoulder just the middle of my back. I was also lucky enough to have a hernia that needed to be repaired. so with that came some chest pain and hard to catch my breath. Not a hard time breathing but taking the deep breath. Yesterday was surgery date for me 3/8/09 and today my incisions hurt but the gas pains are gone. Just remember to walk every 90 mins or so. I am not going to sugar coat it really hurt yesterday. I am still taking my pain meds on a regular bases. I have had my Mom here to help with my kids which has been a God send. I had a hard time sitting in the recliner. Lying in my bed on my side was the best for me. As for getting in fluids I have not had a problem. I mixed in some clear protein drink so I did not feel hungry that worked. I have target brand orange, banana, strawberry sugar-free drink mix with isopure alpine punch. It tastes alright. I guess my one big piece of advice for the first day out is to have someone around to help even if you do not have kids. When is your surgery? If I can answer any other questions let me know. I am very excited to get this journey started.

    Post Band Fashion

There is a group on here that is about clothing trades or what not it is called The clothing X-change. Check that out.
  15. I was given the food I need to eat from the dr paid for by me of course. It is health wise products. It is actually easier for me to know I can only eat out of these boxes. I can have 5-6 packages aday. The food it not horrible I have chicken soups and pancake mix, egg omelet, bars, shakes, juices, oatmeal, and hot choc. The serving sizes are a lot smaller than I am use to, but unbelievable to me they filled me up. I have not actually felt hungry, but the want to actually but other things in my mouth is hard. I have three young kids so I still have to make their meals. I have survived 4 days and have only eat 3 baby carrots outside of what I was supposed to. Really proud of myself. 10 more days to go on the pre-op and band day. Did I answer your question or ramble?
  16. I just read that Dr Curry is doing your surgery on the 8th. me too!!!!! How is your pre op going?

  17. Hello I too live in Cincinnati. Lap day 3/8

    I'm Rena

    Good luck

  18. I too have a date of March 8th. Excited and nervous at the same time. Do you have to do a pre-op diet?
  19. If you would have asked me a month ago I would have said surgery I would like to have tomorrow. After a few days of internet research I am getting nervous. I think because my consultation is next week. I want the success but if I fail it will be me and my own downfalls not the food. i too am very nervous about seeing the me without the excuses. I am excited to think of clothes that fit and not hang over my body. This is the first time in as long as I can remember that I am putting myself first. I need to do this for me. Hopefully the insurance will cover it.
