Amanda you are trying to make me laugh. But your right and now we both have to control ourselves. No pain no gain, so wait untill the end of the journey when your at your desired weight and the fluid is released from your band, then you could eat again moderately, I can't wait either. Yes when you have those feelings it's time to have a fill, I just had my third, and in two days I have lost 4.4 pounds, and tomorrow's weight check should reveal even more. I wish you the best of luck and just hang in there. I know what you mean when you pay for a meal like I did in Seoul and could only take 5 bites, and not any big ones either. I still have a tight band and restriction, if I eat too much it hurts. Yes it does. and if you eat a large piece of something, the pain lasts two days-like mine, thought someone was hitting me in the chest with a sledgehammer. Anyway we are on the right road to a new beginning. Hang in there. I have been eating mash potatoes and pork and beans. Mornings for breakfast is one egg mixed with a slice of cheese. Or just a shake and two vitamins. For lunch I have a tuna salad and some crackers 5. I ate 4 hours apart today comfortable and i had to drink some water. I love that water. At night when I get the munchies, I get a sugarless popsicle. Try it. Good Luck, Ken

Had my 3rd fill and it's really working, but with pain
Giby97 commented on moonlite's blog entry in Blog 77658
Just had my 3rd Fill Sat, 27 Feb 10, tight now. Had lunch immediately after it and felt like 5 to 8 bites was it. Feeling like what little I eat, I feel uncomfortable and burping, some slight feeling in the chest. Must be signs to stop eating, it's working. Mind control is the biggest player here, try to let your mind control your eating. Yes I eat three times a day, now about 3/4 cup of two items like mash pot and pork/beans. Some meat, fish, chicken. The portions are small with this 3rd Fill and that's what you want. Since Sat I am down 2 kgs. 111 to 109. I figure I need to cut my portions down by 1/2 cup of any two items. You need to find your comfort range-this is mine now. Last night I felt full like you did up to your throat but did not have an incident. Drank a little sip of water with my meal-eases the flow and stomach pain if any. I sip on water in between meals to. Hope this helps as this must be how the 3rd Fill works. -
What a day! Traveled to Seoul, and had some training from the wife on using the subway-preparing myself to make the trip by myself--I got the subway system down now. First the bus ride, 3 hrs for $12.00. Then a short walk to the subway, paid $2.00(subway), could have spent (for a $10.00 taxi ride). The subway company gives you $1.00 back-cool so it actually costs a buck to ride the subway. Made it to the doc's and weighted in. 111.3 kg. Good News as doc was impressed. Next came the injection phase. Went to a room and laid on the table on my back. Next came the video picture of my LAP-BAND®-all was well. Two days ago I had my first episode of pain in my stomach-food pain--hurt so bad, thought someone was hitting me in the chest with a sledge hammer. After two days the pain resided. The doc said all was ok and that I was ready for my 3rd-2cc injection. Immediately upon injecting me, I felt the tightness. I got up and went to the waiting room to confirm I could drink WATER. I could drink so I did not have any complications. Now I have 6 cc's in my llcc band.Tight feeling too. Went to eat lunch-soup/fish and could only eat one half of a cup, I was going to explode. We made it to the bus terminal and shopped around for two hours before we made the trip back to our home,3.5 hours drive. At home Ihad another cup of soup and rice--1/2 cup and full again. Guess the next few days will be soup city and water. Where I am at is: started at 123.1 kg and now I weight 111.3 kg. BF loss since 4 Jan is 5 percent. :thumbup:Weight loss since Jan has been an average of 4.35#s a week for a total of 7 weeks. Last two weeks I averaged 2.3#s specifically. This 3rd Fill should enable a good weight loss for the next three weeks, untill my next doctor's appointment.

Senior banquet/High School graduation challenge
Giby97 commented on Erin18's blog entry in Erin's Blog
Hi, based on our lapband surgery routine, I would start a liquid diet-shakes, soups, tuna fish, boiled chicken-baked; protein items. Possible to limit yourself to 400 calories a meal 3 times a day and work out-walk for 40 min a day. Meals that are 400 calories may be found at www.400caloriesorless.com. Some good menu's there. No alcohol, no soft drinks, sugarless drinks, popsicles, and water-6 to 8 glasses a day. If It were me, I would go with soups 1/2 cup with a 1/2 cup vegetable. Eat first then 30 min later drink water. GOOD LUCK and keep us posted on your progress. -
Tiffany, I am Ken a friend of Amanda's. I was in Seoul today and the doc told me you were going to see him this week. GoodLuck, it will change your life.

Very Inpsirational!!!! I have checked out your blog and was very impressed, you look fantastic and should be a role model for all of us. Great success story. I hope I can follow your progress. I am 55 and will be 56 this year. Was tired of gaining weight, as my max was 270. I had my surgery in Jan 10 and now I am getting my 3rd Fill. My weight has been maintaining at 111.0 kg's this week, so feel another "Fill" will get me going again. Your history was exciting to read, you have a wonderful family too. It's sure is a great feeling, satisfying feeling, more self-esteem, and lot's of energy achieved since having the surgery. Like you I feel great and positive. With the weight stagnating at times, it's time to regroup and refocus, to get back on the loosing track--you have done that and now I will. Your story is inspirational, thanks for sharing. Ken Gibson. -
Hello, I weight myself everyday, first thing in the morning. I don't think negative about it, but use it as a guide to control eating habits, whether to eat solids or go back to liquids for a day or so. I also document what I eat and do all day as far as eating and exercising--control. Yes I do have the urge to want more at times, but when you try to control it based on weighting and eating, you will stay with the program, it is a positive thing for me. Use it as a tool to monitor your progress. Good luck

It's time for a my third Fill. Traveling to Seoul Korea again early Sat.:tongue_smilie: This "Fill" will mean I have 6 cc's in a 11 cc band. And liquids for a few days.:smile2: Can't Wait as I am sure the weight loss will occur. Weight has decreased to 243#s from 270, 4 Jan 10. Not bad with some exercise thrown in. Feeling more energetic everyday, wearing old clothes stored away during the past few years and feeling great about myself is the positive results of having lap band surgery. Glad I did it.

Hang in there it takes time. it was 9 days for me and my pain to disappear, but after that wow, energy galore. Rem to eat protein foods, shakes etc. Take a shake and vitamins, you really feel a difference. I have averaged 4.35 pounds a week since Jan 4. It's working and also with exercise too, 30 to 45 min 3 times a week. Try it you will see the difference.

WoW! you really look fantastic. What an inspiration to all of us, especially me. What an achievement. Can't wait until I reach my goal now. Thanks

Hello, I am Ken (Giby97) and I was overweight for over 10 years and finally met my match at 270 which had many sideaffects. Those being: feeling tired all the time, loss of flexibility, loss of self esteem, not wanting to go places with the family, etc. I love to bass fish using a float tube and felt awkward fishing cause I was always the last one to get into the water, bending over to put the fins on was tiring. Anyway my wife convinced me to check the lapband surgery out with the doctor interview on 3 Dec 09. At that visit I decided I was going to do it and set it up for 4 Jan 10. I do not regret it one bit, because after 12 days, the energy levels seem to be never ending for me. I can't pin point it but the energy is there-all day. Just follow the diet plan, and you will loose. I did occasionally drink a beer every now and then but since the surgery, not alcohol or sodas since 3 Jan 10. Suspect after one reaches his/her goal then possibly they could consume some alcohol, but not a lot. Socialize drinking, not binging. I had my surgery done in Korea, and it was simple, no pre-op stuff, just stop eating at 12 midnight on 3 Jan 10 and show up on 4 Jan 10 at 0830. Of course I did not have to wait for any insurance, I paid cash up front, about 6,500.00. I do have a steady weight loss with some leveling out about 5 days prior to my fill dates. Yes I already know when I am expected to go to the doc for fills, it was every two weeks, but I made it three week intervals. Next week on 27 Feb 10 I will go for my 3rd fill, 2 more cc's which will be 6 cc's in my 11 cc band. I know I will feel much restriction, and that's what I want-you loose more. I travel about 4.5 hours one way to get to the doc's office and then wait there for 25 min after the injections, which do not hurt, and try to drink water. You need to be able to drink water no matter what, so that is my #1 check. Once ok, then I am off on my return trip home. After my surgery I had for breakfast, shakes and vitamins, for lunch soups, then for dinner shakes again for a few days. Then on the 4th day I moved to mushy foods-soft foods, mash potatoes, pork and beans, any cooked beans with soup. You need to eat protein foods. Then after a day or so, I went on to fish, chicken or beef, about 2.5 oz. with mac and cheese noodles or mashed potatoes. (veggies 1/2 cup) (Meat 2.5 oz). Did not drink anything for 30 min afterwards. Then when inbetween meals I had a 1/2 glass skim milk with a slice of cheese. At night I had either sugarless jello, pudding, or popsicle. At breakfast I moved up to oatmeal, and or cheese omelet. Lunch was a package of tuna salad with 5 crackers, or Tuna in the special packs at the store-very cheap. I have managed to exercise about 3 nights a week but since yesterday I am on a daily program of riding a stationary bike. When it warms up outside I will walk at night. Plan on doing 1 hour tonight on the bike. The lapbander that commented prior to me is 100 percent on with what she said. Read through all the lapbander's posts and see for yourself how you will improve your life style. There are some pretty interesting stories out there, many of which are valuable support for new banders like yourself. Join the gang and feel wonderful in one year or less. It's your move.

Thanks for letting us know, I am in the same boat you are, I had my 2nd fill, lost some for a few days and then stayed even. I feel no restriction, but do not temp to go beyong the boundary also. I am scheduled for a 3rd fill next Sat, and think that the added 2 cc's for a total of 6 cc's in a 11 cc band will cause me some restriction-which I want. Let me know how yours goes. Giby97-Ken

Amanda, fabulous story, similar to mine, except I had a snow storm which kept me there. After my surgery I went back two weeks later for my fill, received two cc's, and then my second fill was suppose to be at two weeks but I made it three weeks. Now with 4 cc's in my 11 cc band I am going again next week for my third fill. I am on soups this week because my weight has lingered at one setting for three days now. I guess that means it's time for another fill. I have been exercising on the stationary bike and watching what I eat but this week I will try extra. the symptions you had after your surgery was normal for I think, I felt the same. I had my wife there too so we stayed in the same room. I walked mostly and sat up most of the time too. When I got home I took my support off. My areas four of them where the incisions were itched too. They were covered with bandaids so I kinda finger scratched around them, after all I had to shave my belly, haha, it itched like hell too all over. Basically when I could eat solids, I went to tuna fish, tuna salad, and crackers (kits at store) and small cans of pork and beans. I even cooked 15 bean soup beans with hamhocks and made several dishes for dinner's. Last week I had mash potatoes, and mac and cheese and a meat-chicken or fish or beef for dinner. Small sizes like 2.5 oz meat, 1/2 cup veggies. Very filling. I also bought some sugarless popsicles and jellor/pudding-everyonce in a while I have one when I crave between meals. I try to eat every 4.5 hours. Morning's are two eggs and cheese-omelet or small pack of oatmeal. Oh don't worry about the needles for the injections, you barely feel them, really. I watched the doc closely when he prepared mine and I had serious thoughts too, but nothing was felt when he injected me. Well looks like they are giving you 3 cc's so be sure you can drink water before you leave the facility. Water is important. Good luck. You will look great in one year or less. ken

Three days of contstant weight loss after my 2nd FILL. Amazing, as this morning,9 Feb 10, I lost .3 kg. Not significant but still a continuance loss since the doc's appointment. Today's meals will be: 0630 B-shake and two vitamins. 1100 L-tuna salad and crackers. 500pm will be fish and mash pot. Will consume water while at work and late evening. Workout on stationary bike will be one hour - 630 pm to 730 pm.:smile2: This is my schdule for today. My start weight was 123.1 kg on 4 Jan 10 and now it's 111.6. My excess weight was in my mid-section (stomach) which is slowly disappearing now. Started digging into my closet for clothes I have never worn or it's been years since I tried them on. End of this year will be a great time for a new wardrobe, and I can't wait. To be able to buy suits of the rack at the store will be my greatest reward and no more special orders.

Amanda3t, no not because of the surgery! If I nap in the evening say 7:30 to 8:30 I end up getting up early say 3 or 4 normally. But let me say that now once I get my activities down, it will change. Think it's me, my age and adjustments. But needless to say, I have all this energy now, can't believe that. Once up I am ready for work, and when I get to work I am non stop untill 3, a lag time but only for a half hour or so, as my work schedule is minimal. I do take two vitamins in the morning with water. Make sure you get your vitamins too. Hey you can email me at giby97@hotmal.com if you wish not to use this venue. I do try to post how things are going with me after the surgery. I am happy I did it, the night prior I was waking up and having second thoughts, but that ended when I actually arrived at the doctor's office. Best choice I have ever made. I can see 165 lbs in sight. Oh there is another lady on here who reached her goal this past week, amazing.
