The guys that are so afraid of my surgery...
Giby97 commented on HoneyBrown's blog entry in Share my world....
Hi your looking great, and you will be even looking super down the road on this journey. It works and you will not believe it. Do it for you and a healthier lifestyle-life is too short. You will turn heads for sure as most of the bandster's has already, marvelous progress reported on this site. People tend to play games but you will have to do like I do and just be aware and press on with your life, there will be more chances for you in meeting the man of your life. Good Luck. -
Hi that sounds like a normal day for me, up early every morning (2:30; 3:30, or 4:30) have coffee, and catch up on pc till 6 am. Then get ready for work, have a shake and a multivitamin if I don't feel hungry, but I try to have two to three cups of coffee(a must for me). If I decide to eat breakfast, I have two eggs and a toast. That seems to hold me till lunch (10:30 to 11:30). Then it's water till dinner. I eat early most of the time, between 5 and 6. Then I go and do about one to two hours garden work. Your daily schedule should be alittle flexible like mine, so you can mix up your meal times, but do eat at least 3 to 4 times at 4 hour intervals. It's been working for me, and it may for you, just an option. I got use to the getting up early but I do go to bed around 9 pm or by 10 pm. The days I do get up early i am tired around 2 to 3 at work and just try to hang on till I get home. Days that I am too tired, I just relax--sometimes you have to do that, one day at a time, take some time for you. I know things need to get done but everyone deserves a break. I always readjust my schedule based upon my feelings-behavior and of course the weather. If it's raining that's a plus cause I get a break from outside. The thing to remember is to be flexible and adjust accordingly. You deserve a break too, and relax. Make your program work for you and think positively. Good luck.

THANK YOU! AWESOME!!!! GREAT MOTIVATOR!!!!!!! I was touched by your words. Happy to be on this Journey with all bandsters. Yes it's a slow process but keeping a postive attitude is the "Key". Would like to hear about how you lost the 116#s. Please share with us. Take care, Ken "Giby97"

Keep a positive mind and ignore those with negative thoughts. Your on the right track, as I am similar. Each person has there own pace and schedule and it looks like your doing GREAT. I am right behind you as I too am nearly at the 40 # loss mark-maybe a few more weeks but that's ok. Congrats on your loss that is fantastic!! Stay focused on your life style and be patient, we will all be at our goals soon because we are lapbandsters. I ignore anyone with neg thoghts. Good Luck Ken
-
You look GREAT! Congrats.
-
Michelle, that is fantastic. Would you be so kind as to tell me or all of us what your food diet was during your journey and what you did. This would be very interesting and a motivator for most of us. I hope to follow your steps and loose the #s too. Giby97

Soups are your diet for the next few to five days, then mushies like mashed potatoes and baked fish or chicken-a few more days like this then solids, pork and beans, mash pots, veggies. Eating like this gets your band healed and adjusted so it won't slip. After each fill it's the same process again. And if your not loosing the #s for a least a week, then go back to the basics, soups. I do and did, and it works. Good Luck on your journey, you will see positive changes and feel great about yourself--remember this will take time, average loss per week is 2 pounds, any more is a plus. Ken

Went fishing in my float tube for the first time this year, on Saturday in the rain. I was determined to go.:cursing: Once there I began to set up and finally entered the water and fished for three hours. What I noticed about this trip was my LAPBAND which has helped me loose weight has brought back my ability and agility to move quicker, faster and able to put my diver's fins on comfortably and quickly.:thumbup: Last year my weight caused me to be very slow and cautious and out of breadth. Plus my now small stomach, which is very noticeable has enabled me to have more flexibility while on the water in my tube. FANTASTIC and FABULOUS.:crying: I am happy to say that my weight has decreased each week by at least one kg. There are days during the week that there are some ups and downs, a gain of one # here but the next few days, it's off and still decreasing. I have had 3 Fills in my 10cc band. It's still working so I am on hold for my 4th Fill. It's warming up so I will see how my exercises do for a month or two prior to deciding to get my 4th Fill. Happy with my results and feel great, with lot's of energy. May the power be with the LAPBAND.:crying:

Hello, you will still be able to do all those things. You of course will eat less but still can enjoy. I enjoy some of them now while on my journey, McDonalds, Burger King, and resturarants, just eat less, moderately and slow. Read my blogs since Jan 10 you will get an insight into the success of being banded. You will feel great.
-
Amanda, your doing great. so hang in there. I am down to 105.6kg from 123.1kg. Struggling some for a week or two but ok. Still have not made it to the doc for the 4th Fill. Figure I would give the summer months a go at seeing how much I can loose on my own but of course maintaining the diet. Your goal is not crazy, just stay positive and do it alittle at a time. I like the outdoors and have been working outside all day in the garden and on the car. Well hope all is ok with your baby. Hang in there.

Very nice story and I agree with Mechelle totally. I was banded 4 Jan 10. Average loss per week is 1.8#'s. Yes there are days and weeks, that I stay the same but stay positive as I did, stay focused and it will come off. I was obese starting in 1994 till now. Weight was 270 in Jan 10. Great things has happened since surgery. Lot's and lot's of energy. Self-Esteem high and getting higher, unbelieveable. Flexibility and movement much easier. I am down now to 233 #'s. It's an average of 2 #'s per week. Comfortable. Healthy lifestye will allow you longer years to be with your two girls, like I feel about my daughter Hana, now 15. I am going on 56 this Aug. Please feel free to look at my blogs and see how my journey's been. Lately I tried some meat's beef and could not eat it, but that's ok, eat chicken and fish. I love fish, and mashed potatoes with some pork an beans. Eat high protein foods, and plan using grams like I do. I average eating 1100 calories a day. Oh stock up on sugarless jello, and popsicles. I love those popsicles. Have fun and I look forward to talking with you during your journey. I live and reside in Korea with my Korean family. If you wish to talk via email: giby97@hotmail.com. Best of Luck Giby97 (Ken)

Banded 12/30/2009, no weight loss for two weeks
Giby97 commented on marquis9979's blog entry in Blog 90356
Try eating protein food items, about 400 calories per meal--tuna salad and crackers, soups and crackers, and try some 400 calorie meals from an earlier blog which lists the recipe book. I tried the meatloaf, was fantastic. I am at 38 #'s lost since 4 Jan- (20 week's) with an average of 1.85#s lost per week. I have only been working outside in the garden and not exercising. I work and have a shake in morn with vitamin, tuna and crackers or a bowl of chili beans for lunch, and I have tried chopped ham on bread this week--lost weight for me, plus at night I have sugarless popsicles, 2 to 4. This week I went from107 kg to 105.9 kg. Since we are off 4 days, I am starting to step up and walk tonight one hour-goal next week to be 103 or 104 kg. I have had three fills and holding for the fourth pending my results of my exercise routine for Jun, Jul and Aug. We are similar with weight loss, and I think I am doing well as planned, but welcome more. At one year I want to be down 100 #s. One thing you can try is eat 4 meals a day at 4 hour intervals. I figure I eat less that 1100 calories a day. I drink at least two bottles of water a day. After lunch which is 1030 to 1130, I concentrate on water for 3 to 4 hours. I eat dinner between 4:30 and 6. Your weight will fluctuate like mine, but will eventually go down, fat turns to muscle-maintaining some weight then the loss occurs. Keep the faith and stay strong, and when in doubt do like I do, go back to the basics, for two or three days, soups and veggies, mushies etc. Now I enjoy beef, chicken, fish 3 oz with veggies one or two. Last night I had some watermelon-tasty. Hang in there and I will see you at the end of our journey with a great weight loss. Good Luck -

8 weeks ago, I had a lap band installed.....
Giby97 commented on TheNewDoug's blog entry in Blog 92765
Outstanding story, I have much admiration for you. Your doing great. Thanks -
Hi, I was banded 4 Jan 10. At first the weight loss is significant 5 to 10 #s the first week after surgery. Then for me it's averaged about 2 #s per week. I started at 270 and now weight 233. The only exercise I do is walking, gardening and an occasional stationary bike exercise for 30 to 45 min. I am an avid fisherman and fish in a float tube for 5 hours so that will be my exercise beginning the next few weeks. Let me say that my diet has been: breakfast a shake and vitamin, lunch-tuna and crackers. Then I drink a bottle of water prior to going home from work. And Dinner usually a meat-chicken, fish, or beef--finely chopped and about 3/4 cup with a side dish 1/2 cup vegetable-peas, peas and carrots, or mashed pots. I occassionally fix chicken noodle soup from a box and add peas to it. I also eat about 6 crackers with it for this meal. Whenever my weight stays the same, which it has for 3 to 5 days, I resort back to soups only. I have had 3 fills for a total of 6 cc in a 10 cc band. Just rem that when you exercise your fat turns to muscle so the weight is still there. Don't be disappointed but be positive, the weight loss will come back. I feel I am ok right now but will eventually go to the doc to get a 4th fill in Jun. I am doing this on my own, my own drive and it's working. I was on soups-tomato soup, chicken noodle soup two to three days after my surgery, then I went to mushies-mash potatoes, and peas, pork and beans, and I tried some baked fish. Two or three days later I was eating chicken, beef or fish 3/4 cup with a 1/2 cup veggie. I got hooked on pork and beans and mashed potatoes. You will sometimes wonder how far can you go before you reach your limit and be full, when eating. I tried this on purpose to see what happens, Well you know up it came. This only happed three or four times. I can say that once in a while you can still enjoy eating a BIG Mac, OR A wHALER- just eat it slowly and chew chew chew. I took out a piece of bread in the Big Mac and ate it slowly with an occasional sip of diet soda. Still lost weight too, so if you watch your calories, and eat slow you can still enjoy some delicious foods. Another breakfast item to eat is an egg and cheese. I usually fix a cheese omelet or have some oatmeal. Your goal weight is achievable as my goal weight is 170 but I want to go 5 more to 165 in one year. Good luck and enjoy your journey as I have. Lost weight, fitting into cloths that were in the closet two to three years and buying new clothes too. A rise in self-esteem is evident and an unbelievable increase in energy levels. I am truly satisfied and sure you will be too. Good luck. We can be friends if you like, please read my blogs, or you can email me: giby97@hotmail.com. Will be glad to answer your questions.

Amanda Hi it's Ken. I see your having fun with your pregnancy. I did not go for my 4th fill yet, post poned it to see if I can loose myself. I got down to 106 kg once but now back up to 108. I started soups again, in the can (vegetables) and find it filling, cause I been hungry too. It must be the cold weather, don't you think. I will probably make it to the doc's the end of May. I have been working outside on nice days and seem to loose a kg a day. I am down 33 #s for 4 months, but you seem to have done better. Good work. Anyway now you have your baby to think about so make sure you eat enough. You can adjust after the birth. Sorry I can't help you on the pregnancy symptons, I know those feelings as I had three boys from my first marriage. I too find my restriction limited and at times I can eat alot. I am careful cause I don't want to have a bad experience, you know what I mean. I just had a bowl of soup and crackers. I have a glass of milk waiting for one hour for me to sip on this evening. For breakfast I had a shake and a vitamin, and for lunch I had some fruit and tuna salad with crackers. By this weekend I should have my exercise progrm down. Hope it works. Well just thought I would say hello and wish you the best with your baby.

Your doing fine, I have lost only 32.4 #s since 4 Jan 10. I have had 3 fills. I have slowed down some, but when I am active-working outside all day I loose 2 #s. Going back to the basics works for me and that's what I am doing again, soups, mushies, etc. Give it a try on your own first before another fill, as I too am contemplating another fill, my 4th. Stay the course, your doing fine, maybe resort back to the basics like me. Good luck.

It's ok to add variety without feeling bad. I for one have tried McDonalds, and BurgerKing, One Big Mac only without the middle bread, and a BKWhaler-only. It's Fish. I have even ate out at a Korean resturant and have lost weight. Some days you need a break, but eat to your limits, you will know when your full, STOP, I do. Eat moderately and follow the guidance, soups, musshies and solids. After a fill two days on liquids, then switch to musshies, mash pot's and peas, with boiled or backed chicken or fish. Chicken noodle soupd with a half can of peas with a few crackers is great for dinner. That's my story...I am loosing the pounds. I tried it and I like it.

Well my average weight loss per week has been 2.65#s since Jan 2010. You can estimate about 2 pounds a week loss, but if you do alot of extra things like work out, and follow the diet plan you may loose more. Immediately following a "Fill" one tends to loose about 5#s then it tappers off to 2. This has been my path of weight loss, yours may be different depending on how active you are. I am not too active but concentrate on loosing at least two pounds a week. Rem when fat turns to muscle, you may not see a weight loss, just a constant weight for a few days, then all of a sudden it starts to drop. Good luck

Liquids (soups) for two days then mushies like peas and mashed potatoes, fish and chicken (boiled or baked). After my third Fill, tried soup immediately-only ate alittle, and the evening time at home mushies, then on the second day food, fish, chicken, beef. Small amounts like 3/4 cup with a 1/2 cup veggie-peas, or peas and carrots, or mash pots. Now I am eating out at restuarants like tonight, pork cutlet, spaghetti, small amounts and chew them many times--no problems. Loosing some and maintaining this week, expect to exercise alot in May starting tomorrow--outside for 10 hours working in the yard, garden, should loose 2 kg's easy or 5 #s. Breakfast is normally an ensure shake and two multi vitamins. Or 2 eggs-over easy with toast, some coffee-sip. Lunch is tuna salad and 5 crackers-can buy kits at grocery store already made. Dinner is well chicken or fish baked, boiled, with a veggie. 2 hours later maybe a sugarless popsicle or a half glass milk with a hand full of cashews. Hope this helps some.
