YES !! :scared2: I have an iud and haven't had a period in 3 years. I started the liquid diet and suddenly started a full fledged weeklong heavy flow period. I am NOT happy about this. I'm hoping its a one time thing

They asked me if i've ever been abused, my family's mental history, why I want to lose weight, and if I understand all of the possible complications, and that was about it

Hypothyroid / Surgery Approval / Weight Loss Success
madpassion posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just wrapped up all my pre-surgery clearances. My pcp called and said my labwork indicates I have Hypothyroidism. She prescribed my synthroid but I havent started taking it. Has anyone experienced problems getting approval from a PPO with a thyroid problem. My other problems are fatty liver, and a slight hiatal hernia. I am reluctant to take the medication after reading some of the side effects. Im wondering if I should not start taking it til after the surgery. Any experience with this? -
Hypothyroid / Surgery Approval / Weight Loss Success
madpassion replied to madpassion's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've been taking the medicine for 20 days now. I dont feel any better or worse. I lost the bottle of pills for a couple days, then found it, but during that couple days it felt like every muscle in my body was fatigued. I couldnt even close my hand around the doorknob. I had done some pretty strenuous physical activity in the week before that, so im not sure if that was the cause, but i know i dont want to go through it again so ill be sure to keep track of the pills from now on !! I received my insurance approval last week, so I guess the thyroid wasnt really an issue  -
I've had my mirena for 3 years. I havent had a period since I got it, but then I did a 2 week liquid diet as kind of a trial run before surgery, and got a period. I just started my official pre-op diet and really really hope it doesnt happen again. I always had really really heavy periods prior to getting the IUD, which would sometimes last 8 days. The period I got recently only lasted abuot 5 days.

Did you cheat on pre-op liquid diet
madpassion replied to crystalcml's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I started my official pre-op diet today, but I tried it out a couple months ago just to see if i could do it. My Dr's diet requires a protein drink for breakfast and lunch, then 4 oz of lean meat and a green leafy vegetable for dinner. I got through that no sweat. For the official diet he requires 4-6 weeks. I'm hoping this goes as smoothly as the trial run. -
One night years ago this guy I had been dating spent the night and the next day he was outside smoking with my roomate. My roomate asked him "So did you guys get down last night or what?" My guy replied with "Ya, didnt you hear the mad passion going on all night?" So after that they all started calling me madpassion and it just kind of stuck.

I got my Mirena in October 2008. I havent had a period since, but i've noticed that my face breaks out worse than before around the time of the month that I should get my period. I dont have the band yet, but prior to getting the IUD I was steadily losing weight. I had lost about 45 pounds, but once I got the IUD the weight loss just stopped. I was always missing my pills, and didnt like the nuvaring, so for me the IUD has been the best option.

Dr. Douglas Krahn - I love Dr. Krahn
madpassion replied to JenB78's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Hi cherrygirl85, I've wanted the lapband for a while, and today came across your post in a websearch, i joined the forum and made an appt with Dr Krahn. My stats are just like yours 5'5", 315 lbs, although im starting to think thats just where the scales top out, cuz i feel like i've been piling on weight lately. Anyway, thanks for the inspiration. I've never been this excited to go to the Dr. -
What was your first step? I also have Anthem Blue Cross PPO and on the provider finder its just too dificult to narrow it down. They dont have any options for this specialty. Did you start with a family dr or find a surgeon right off the bat?
