Well, I have thought about this for a few years, but I had never said anything to my husband about me being interested. We had watched a few television shows about it on TLC. I looked into it on my own by doing research. I was not heavy enough to qualify for insurance and we could not afford to pay for it out of pocket. Now, about 5 years later, I am hevay enough. I don't have any diagnosed co-morbidities, but I can feel a difference and I can tell it is affecting me (when I am being really honest with myself). Then, my husband mentioned it to me and said that he thought it was a good idea. I thought it was really wierd because I had been looking a month before that into what my options were. I made an appointment for a consultation for the next week. I hope to get the band in January 2010. I have to be self pay because my insurance will not cover anything (they say I have a pre-existing waiting period that extends until this policy expires). I have my financing in place, have an appointment to meet with the surgeon tomorrow and do labs. Cardiac Stress test on Friday (d/t my dad's cardiac history). Hopefully, everything will work out for the best.
