    Monkey on my back

You make a very good point. Food surely can be an addiction. I believe I am a food addict. I think what needs to happen is a couple things. One is to feel your feelings, don't stuff them down with food. Another thing is to fill that void that food filled with other things in your life. For example, takeon a new hobby. You can do it!

    Scale!

If I were you I would get a scale. However, stop weighing yourself everyday, or even more. Weight flucuates a bit. I weigh myself once a week, in the morning, after using the bathroom.
  3. Just putting my 2 cents in. You may want to find a new doctor just because of how long it takes to get an appt. I have had to bump up a fill and only had to wait 2 weeks.
  4. In my opinion you may be able to eat anything but that doesn't mean you should. You want to stay away from refined carbs and high fat foods (sorry that includes pizza). I consider myself a food addict and therefore have to abstain from high sugar and high fat foods. Just some food for thought.

    is this normal?

Yes- I would say chili is a slider food. It generally takes a few fills before you feel restriction. In the mean time do your best to eat healthy and to excersise. You want to get: 2 servings of dairy 60 grams protien carbs from "good" sources such as Beans, fruit, potatoe, 100% whole wheat Pasta and bread 5 servings of fruit and veggies. Best of luck!
  6. Stay far away from Medifast! I tried it and it was a disaster. I was so hungry all the time I couldn't stick with it. What a waste of money! I agree, save the money for a fill. And in the mean time try to follow a lowfat/lowcarb eating plan.
  7. In my opinion, you shouldn't be eating white bread or rice or pasta at all. They are all very high in refined carbs. If you can, switch to brown rice and whole wheat bread and pasta.

    Need some inspiration!

Are you still wearing the same clothes? I have found people notice when I pull out a smaller size from my closet (I have several sizes lol). Don't get discouraged, you are doing great. Keep up the good work!

    sizes

I have lost the same amount as you- just cleaned out my closet today. I have several sizes so I didn't need to buy anything new yet. I highly reccomend getting clothes that fit. It will make you feel even better about your weight loss. When I need to, I plan to go to walmart/target and get a few things to carry me through for a while. Hope that helps. Keep un the good work!
  10. After my first and third fill I couldn't keep fluids down right away. After first fill the next day I was fine. After the third fill on Tues. I couldn't keep anything down until this morning- Thur. I know I probably should have called the dr. yesterday (Wed.). I am now able to keep fluids down fine. Haven't tried even soft food yet- going to wait until this afternoon. Anyone else have similar experiences?
  11. Walking around does it for me. I find I have to take a lot of breaks while eating and burp. Just like a baby lol

    Opinions

My opinion is that since you only have a little bit more to loose I wouldn't do the bypass. You have learned skills that will carry you through. You are right by saying it is a drastic procedure. Best of luck to you! Keep us posted on what you decide to do.
  13. Wow you are having a really hard time. Harder than most unfortunatly. The only advice I have is to work closely with your doctor. Also drink very small sips very slowly (I know you are probably already doing that). Keep us posted! All the best!
  14. I have posted this before I think but it fits so well into this thread. My psychologist (who is part of the lapband team along with the surgeon and nutritonist) gave me 2 things to do to start letting my mind adjust to my new body. Keep one set of "fat" clothes and try them on once in a while. Also take a pic of yourself once a month and campare where you are from where you began. Look at the pic unjudgementally (tough I know). Dr. Phil says to look at yourself naked in the mirror once in a while. I do that too.
  15. I feel thinner since surgery and 34.5 weight reduction than I really am. The psychologist associated with the surgery team said to take a picture once a month. This will help you adjust mentally to your new body. However when I saw the pictures (front and profile in a bathing suit) I was horrified. I looked much fatter than I felt. I reported it to the psychologist and she said I need to look at them nonjudgementally. A tough thing to do for sure!
  16. Having a glass of wine once in a while is fine. From what I've gathered you will get typsy faster than you used to. The only concern about alchohol is the empty calories.

    The gap

I am excited to buy some new clothes as well. Like you, I have resisted the urge because I'm only going to get smaller. I have several sizes in my closet so I may be ok for a while. When I do shop I plan on getting just a few cheap things. Probably at walmart or target. Gap is kind of expensive isn't it?
  18. I have the same issues when I first get a fill. It goes away in a day or 2. If it goes beyond that I would go in for an unfill for sure. You get in danger of being deydrated. Are you vomiting?
  19. Since you just had a fill, it is much more likely it is too tight rather than it slipped. I have trouble keeping anything down when I first get a fill, but am fine in the next day or two.

    Slow Going...

I agree about watching carbs and fats. I count protien grams and calories. My nutritionist says to get at least 60 grams of protien. Focus on lean protien as the base of your diet. "good carbs" come from dairy, beans, fruits. Get 2 servings of dairy a day according to my nutritionist. I also agree the bottom line is calories in and calories out. If your not excersising, start a program. I know how damn hard it is to start, but once you do you will feel great. Alot of people on this post rave about the wii fit, if you can afford to get one.

    First Fill

A fill is very easy. Don't be nervous. You are given a local before the fill. The needle will be long but don't get frieked out. You won't feel a thing! Just think, you may feel some restriction. Of course everybody is different. It took a second fill for me to have any restriction.

    Very bad day

Do you think you need a fill? Sounds like maybe you do since you were able to eat so much and not get sick. Best of luck getting back on track!
  23. vlp1968

    I'm back!

Good for you getting back on track! Sometimes hard things in life make us turn to food. Do you think that happened to you? I enourage you to start your excersise program. It's so damn hard to start but once you do you will feel great. I write down everything I eat, that might help you get back on track. Best wishes, you can do it!

    Weird Feeling

Does it happen when you drink? I get the same exact thing your describing. It usually happens when I have eaten just a little too much. Also happens when I drink, right after a fill. Mine doesn't last long either. I find it helps to move around.
  25. Well....hopefully you learned a lesson! LOL I think you'll be fine. Doubt the drink had an affect on the band. However people are probably right that you should call your dr. if the vomiting continues much longer. Feel better and best of luck!
