  1. Hi, Love this board, I find it so supportive. I am wondering if anyone in the Port St. Lucie Fl. area is out there. Would love to hear from you. Thanks!

    Tossing the Scale??

I weigh myself once a week. I have been really good about that since surgery. Well- I cheated twice (in almost 6 months). The daily flucuations would drive me crazy. However, I think different things work for different people.

    Post-Op 1 week Today!

Try not to compare yourself to anyone else. Everyone recovers differently. For me, it was a very easy recovery. I did have more soreness then you, took painpills for 3-4 days as needed. My energy was fine though. However, I think tiredness is totally normal. You will probably feel much better once you are on solid food. Also, make sure you are getting at least 64 oz. of water a day. Good luck! Hope you feel better soon.

    how long being full

3-4 hours sounds about right. For me, it's not even that long, probably 2-3 hours. Small snacks hold me over. Sounds like your doing great!
  5. I have been overweight since about 9 years old. I ate to stuff my feelings. I never had a lot of friends and ate out of boredom and lonlieness. I believe myself to be a food addict. Infact, I have other addiction issues. I yo-yoed all my life. Loosing weight and then gaining it back very quickly. The good news is I am in therapy, working on my addictions. I was finally ready for the band Nov. 16th 2009. I have lost 74 pounds and feel great. Still things to work on, but am proud at how far I've come.
  6. My psychologist made it clear she wasn't there to have me turned down for surgery. She just wanted to help the team get to know me. I was totally honest with her. Don't stress about it- just be honest during the eval. You will be fine.

    Is this normal?

Yes, you are probably bloated. I think they put saline in the iv at the hospital. I didn't loose much the first couple weeks, then bam 8 pounds. Hang in there. Try to stay off the scale except for once a week. The flucuations will drive you crazy.
  8. I saw my regular doctor to talk about getting off some of my meds. He took me off the high blood pressure and high cholesterol meds. I went off the diebeties medication a while back. I am no longer on any weight related medications. What a NSV!

checking in 4 months post op

You are doing fantastic! Keep up the good work!
  10. Regular workouts are one secret to success. Highly reccomend you start as soon as possible. Do what you can and increase time/intensity gradually. Also very important is getting enough protien, at least 60 gms a day. Lots of water helps with hunger and helps your body loose fat. Good luck!

    5 days post op

I didn't get that pain in the chest feeling after surgery, but do after a fill. You may experience it again as you go through your journey. Best wishes to all of you!C

    Liquids after surgery

I was only on liquids for 1 week- then mushies. Didn't have any problems.
  13. Great! I had lots of sizes in my closet too. I am down to the smallest now. I have 2 large bags of clothes for my sister. Goodwill for inbetween clothes is a great idea. Why spend a lot of money on something that won't fit for long. Keep up the great work!
  14. Since my last fill I have had great restricion most of the day. It's dinner and beyond I'm having trouble with. I eat as much as I can get down for dinner (ussually 4 0z of fish, chicken and a veggie. I am satiisfied after dinner, but it only last about an hour. I usually suck up the hunger for about an hour and have a snack. I might even have one more snack before bed. My calories for the day are fine, but wonder is I can do something about this evening hunger. I even have a light snack late at night sometimes. Any Ideas?
  15. I have gone through phases like your describing. A week or 2 where I am either starving, or getting sick on what I eat. I have also noticed the same food will go down fine one time, and not another. I am tighter in the morning too. I have a protien shake for breakfast and that lasts until lunch. It seems to me my hunger increases throught the day. Are people experienceing such inconsistancy?
  16. I didn't know hair loss was a side effect of being a bandster until I read about it here. I have recently begun loosing hair, the drain in the shower is covered and I am finding them all over the house. I have also read it stops on it's own so I am trying not to worry too much about it. Luckily I have think hair.
  17. I have had those feelings too. Especially when I'm sitting infront of a reasonable amount of healthy food I like and can't finish it. I want to eat more, yet am uncomfortable (I get a wicked pain in my chest when I am "full"). I usually stop even though I don't want to. I have learned what one or two bites more will do. It is getting better over time (I am 5.5 months out) so hang in there. You are doing great!

    Clothes

I was so excited to fit into a 14, so I know how you feel. Congrats!
  19. Something hot to drink can help things go down. I just went through a tough time with a fill, and it was suggested. However, it didn't work for me. I ended up getting an unfill. In my case shakes wouldn't even stay down, after 4 days. You may just have swelling- I would wait it out a couple days. Sticking to fluids makes sense. Best of luck!
  20. I know there is a pain reliever that we are not suppossed to take but can't remember what it is. My hip is bothering me so i took some acetaminophen. Is that the one? Thanks.
  21. Great! I like your positive attitude.
  22. I would also think about the calories in alcohol. It may or may not be worth it to you. Mixing with crystal lite will save calories over cran.

    Pain relievers

Thanks so much guys. I am glad I took the right thing.
  24. I wake up in the middle of the night hungry sometimes. I try to ignore it but if it's really bad I will have a light snack. I do this especially if my day was fairly low in calories. A snack before I go to bed may be more enjoyable lol. I will try it.

    And look at that!!!

You do look great! The psychologist that's part of the wls team told me to take a pic. once a month. I've been doing it in my bathing suit. I am more excited for that then to step on the scale. The difference each month is significant. Keep up the great work!
