How to get ur groove back ???
vlp1968 replied to carbgrl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You have done so well. 65lbs is great! I would suggest you start an excersise program. It will spur on some weightloss and help with cravings. Also- can you keep the junk out of the house? It should help if you can temptation far away from you. Remember why you had the surgery in the first place. Think about how much better you feel since loosing 65lbs. You can do it! -
Buffalo chicken is probably alright. Shouldn't have a lot of carbs since it's spicy not sweet. I assume it's not a fried piece of chicken. Great your not eating the bread. Not sure about the calorie count- may be higher than you'd like to think. I would see if subway has nutritional information.

Cravings - do they ever go away?
vlp1968 replied to kurby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It gets easier for sure. I still have cravings (I'm 6 months post op) but they come and go fairly quickly. For me I crave high fat foods more than carbs. Just wanted to mention, your weight loss goal is very lofty. The expected weight loss is 1-2 pounds a week. Just don't want you to be frustrated or dissapointed. Good luck with the surgery! You are on your way to a whole new life. -
Not sure if I need another fill, but not losing weight
vlp1968 replied to patsal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You don't mention how hungry you are. That's a huge indicator of needing a fill. Sounds like you are eating really well. If your feeling satisfied with that amount of food, I would say you probably don't need a fill. However, I would go to the doctor and discuss. Best wishes! -
need advice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
vlp1968 replied to ladytru84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are doing some really good things- like working out and journaling. Can you keep the junk out of the house? Other family members may want it, but maybe they can enjoy treats outside the house, at least for now. I would focus on eating the right foods (low carb, low fat, yada yada) even if your portions are bigger than you would like. Portion control will be much easier once you have restriction. Keep us posted on how your doing. Good luck! -
UGHH, I'm Dizzy! HELP!
vlp1968 replied to shibalover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dizziness could be from low blood sugar or low blood pressure. Your body may be going through changes due to your new diet. I would call your doctor. All the best! -
I wasn't told no straws either. Infact, when I get the water after a fill, it's with a straw. I actually find it's easier to take small sips with a straw. Typically I don't use one, it's just my preference.

I journaled for about the first 4 months postop. I began to feel like it was making me focus on what I was eating too much. I had gotten into a routine of certain foods for 3 meals and 2 snacks a day. I truely believe I am eating the same, just not writing it down. Works for me. I believe everybody is different, and needs to find what works for them.

Too tight or bad bandster?
vlp1968 replied to Chele6378's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like it's because your drinking with meals- a real no no. Also- additional drinking will only make a stuck episode get worse. I hope your not offended, but I just have to comment that chicken nuggets are not the best weight loss food. Fast food resturaunts are tough- I stay away from them. Best wishes! -

2 weeks post op and getting frustrated
vlp1968 replied to butterfly0510's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are doing great, what your eating seems right on target. You will see the scale move! Try to only weigh yourself once a week, it may help you from being discouraged. Your weight will flucuate from day to day. Once your doc. says it's ok I would start working out. That will really help your rate of weight loss. Good luck! -
Having Difficulties getting on track...
vlp1968 replied to Celestial's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree- sounds like you might want to see if you can get in for a fill. Until you get restriction, I would focus on eating the right foods (low carb, low fat, lots of protien yada yada). Don't worry too much about quantity yet. Also- start working out if you haven't already. It will relieve stress and help curb your hunger, never mind burn calories and increase your metabolism. Good luck! -
1st fill a week away!!!!!
vlp1968 replied to Callous's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats to all of you. Just be aware your first fill may not provide restriction. It is very common for it to take several fills. Took me 3. However, you are well on your way! Good luck! -
I like walking on the treadmill. I walk at a brisk pace on an incline. I also do a step aerobic routine at home- an old Jane Fonda one. I am planning on starting to add the bike in- good to change it up. I am not sure why I am hesitiating to do this, guess I like the familiar. Good for you finding something that works for you! Best wishes!

vlp1968 replied to Astrasmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Need your advice and thoughts, banded 3 weeks ago today...
vlp1968 replied to shelbymooy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it's great you are only weighing yourself once a week. Daily flucuations will drive you crazy. Yes, 4.5 pounds a week is too much to expect. General guidelines for bandsters is 1-2 pounds a week. Yes, you may loose more some weeks, but let that be "icing on the cake", not what's expected. Just looked at your post again, at the beginning says 1.5 at the end 4.5. Is there a typo? 1.5 pounds a week seems reasonable to me. Working out will surely speed weightloss, once you are cleared by your doctor. Best wishes! -
Is the band REALLY in there?
vlp1968 replied to JJLaw08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there! It will happen. Keep working with your doctor. Everybody is different, for me it was 3 fills before I felt restriction. Since then it has been kind of fickle. Some days I am tighter then others. Very tight in the morning, get hungry around 4:00. Good luck! -
What's the drinking rule anyway?
vlp1968 replied to theartoflosing's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nut. told me no drinking 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after eating. I have been following that and haven't experienced any problems. -
Having a hard time...
vlp1968 replied to alishapat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You already have lots of good suggestions. My 2 cents is to start an excersise program. It is a great stress reducer. Start off slow and gradually increase your intensity and/or duration. Keep us posted on how your doing. -
When does PB/vomiting become bulemia?
vlp1968 replied to kuurtamo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Purging the "bad foods" is very concerning. I am no expert, I think you should consult one. Hopefully you have insurance that covers mental health. Keep us posted on how your doing! As other posts indicated, you are surely not alone. -
Family/Friends reactions once you have the band?
vlp1968 replied to KimDB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am lucky enough to have nothing but encouragement around me. All my friends and family are so excited for me. I am always getting compliments on how good I am looking. It really keeps me going! -
What does it feel like when your band slips?
vlp1968 replied to NinaC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hopefully you can keep down fluids. Call your doc. immediatley if you can't. As long as fluids are going down, I don't think it slipped. -
eating sooner than allowed
vlp1968 replied to kimp64's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had mushies 1 week after surgery- real food the next week. I had no problems. However, like already said, you probably should talk to your doc.
