The "Red Zone" Sucks!
vlp1968 replied to kelsey94568's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had trouble after my last 2 fills. Eventually (almost a week) later, went in for unfills. The last time (yesterday) I saw a different doctor. To my chagrin he took out more than the previous fill had been (fill was .2, he took out .9). He said there was swelling. I go in 2 weeks from monday to have a fill. He says I'll be hungry, hopefully I can still stick to the eating plan I've been following. -

Violent vomit help please
vlp1968 replied to bandaide's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, vomiting as you've described, can cause the band to slip. However, it is by no means a common occurance. If the vomiting continues I would call your gyn and lapband doctors. Good luck! -
Wrapping your mind around it
vlp1968 replied to hopeendures's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sometimes surprised when I catch myself in the mirror and think, wow, I am getting small. It's a great feeling. I agree it takes time for the mind to catch up with the body. The pyschologist involved with my wls told me to do 2 things. One is to take a picture of myself once a month, I do it in a bathing suit. It's amazing to see the difference each month. She also said to keep one outfit from your "fat clothes". I have found these things to be helpful. -
Drink as much water as possible, and see if that helps. I got dizzy when my blood sugar was too low (it was time to get off the diebetes meds). Infact I passed out. Low blood pressure can also make you dizzy. I would call your pcp if it continues.

how much can u eat now???
vlp1968 replied to dowhatitdo1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If anything, sounds like you may be too tight. You should be able to eat at least 4oz of food at one sitting. I would talk to your doc. about an unfill. -
I eat around 900 cals a day (I am small, 4'11"). I have been loosing about 2-3 pounds a week. I also workout 4-5 days a week doing cardio and 3 days doing weights. Getting advice from a doc. or nutritionist is probably a good idea.

I have to agee, don't keep the food in the house. Also, you might want to seek some therapy, at least for a little while. A therapist can help you learn to deal with your emotions in a healthy way, instead of overeating. Best wishes!

Getting off my cholesterol meds was such a milestone for me. Keep up the great work!

PROTEIN - Shakes vs Solid Food
vlp1968 replied to Drasan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are right, a protien shake tends to slip right through the pouch. I have one for breakfast because I am pretty tight in the morning. Other then that, I eat solids. Good question. -
Last week not one pound lost!!!!
vlp1968 replied to jen36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is completely normal to have weightloss stall. You have done great! Your weight will flucuate with hormones, water retention et... Try not to let it get you down. Sounds like you are doing everything right. Keep up the good work! -
Hang in there! You will get passed this phase and onto a whole new life. I don't regret having the band, just wish I had done it sooner. Once you heal, and get restriction you will feel so much better. You can do it!

You are doing geat! Keep up the good work!

Is this part of bandster he!!???
vlp1968 replied to Redhead4947's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If your worried- I would call the dr. office. It may just be gas, but a call may ease your mind. -
It's good your keeping everything down. I would call the dr. about the nausea- just to be on the safe side.

I'm about to burn out?.
vlp1968 replied to MissMelissa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get the impression you are bored. I would try changing up your excersise routine (wow 5-6 times a week is fantastic) and change up the food your eating. You may be in a rut- getting out of it may increase your motivation. Also, keep in mind why you got the band. Probably to be healthier as well as look and feel 100% better. Also, be aware of weighing yourself too frequently. I really think that adds to peoples discouragement. Keep up the good work- you will see that damn scale move. Focus on other things besides the scale- are your close looser? Have you lost inches? Keep us posted, and good luck. -
Congrats on your first fill- it felt like a milestone for me. Be aware it might not cause restriction, it took me 3 fills. You may have some for the first couple days due to swelling. Of course everyone is different, some people do get restriction from one fill. Best wishes on your journey.

Sooo frustrated (yes, I know, a less-than-original post title)
vlp1968 replied to crazydaisy0729's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand your frustration. It took me 3 fills before I felt any restriction. Hang in there, it will happen. I would start weighing yourself less frequently, that might alleviate some discouragement. Once a week is probably a good idea. Your weight will naturally flucuate from day to day. Keep doing what your doing and that damn scale will move! Keep us posted. -
50 pounds lost today! First Mini goal reached.
vlp1968 replied to cynpatt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awsome job! Keep up the great work! -
You may find that you don't tolerate some of the foods you did once you have some fills. For your sake- I hope it's not pasta lol. You will also find you need to eat slower and chew your food really well. Good luck in your journey!
-
Don't be embarrassed to go to the doc. If they are a good one they won't be judgemental. You will probably be surprised at how painless it is.
-
Sorry that happened to you. Hang in there! You can fight the hunger deamon! Best of luck!

Do I need a fill....or what am I doing wrong
vlp1968 replied to x96oun's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just want to chime in with a "hang in there!". Restriction will come. Until then, I would focus on eating the right foods (low carb, low fat, high protien). Your portions may be larger than they will be once you have restricion, but you probably won't gain. It took me 3 fills to have any sort of restriction. Best of luck! -
Congrats on the begining of an exciting journey! I agree you have a great attitude. Keep it up and you will do great. I eat atkins bars when on the run. They may be something to grab for lunch once in a while, when your in a rush. Best wishes!
