2 Months Post-Op, Checking In...
vlp1968 replied to jen36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you! Keep up the good work! -
I did 40 minutes on the treadmill- walk/jog. I had to really make myself do it and am so glad I did. I also had a session with my trainer- 30 minutes of abs.
-
Sounds like you are doing great!

So full!!!
vlp1968 replied to pocketsfullofsunshine125's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No- it doesn't sound like too much. As far as stretching your pouch, I think that's pretty hard to do. The stomach has lots and lots of give to it. -

NSV - Just got engaged and my ring is too loose...
vlp1968 replied to Diamondgirl81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you! I have watches and rings that will need to be resized once I reach my goal. -
I was loosing some hair and went to the dermatologist. He said it was from the shock your body goes into after rapid weightloss. Much to my relief, he said I would not go bald. It should subside over time.

Lessons I Have Learned
vlp1968 replied to StormRoyale's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too have found eating slowly and taking breaks helps a lot. Right after being banded I would eat right through the full stage and end up being sick. Sounds like you are doing well, keep up the good work. -
Trick to getting in enough Fluids
vlp1968 replied to LusciousL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I almost always have water with me. I am lucky, love to drink water. My advice is to try to have fluids with you almost all the time and sip sip sip. You should find you get your 64oz throughout the day. -
Did I just make the biggest mistake of my life?
vlp1968 replied to lovinlife4eva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think you damaged your band, as you didn't even get sick. Try not to beat yourself up about your slip. All you can do is move on and do what's right. Look forward, not back. You can do it! -
2 months out -- 2 weeks after 2nd fill and all of a sudden restriction
vlp1968 replied to suf1987's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't experienced it but I've read others saying a fill kicked in a week or 2 later. Sounds like you are doing well. -
I think you did a great job advocating for yourself!
-
I did cardio for the first time in almost a week- was on vacation. I had to really make myself do it but felt great after. My goal is 5-6 days a week of cardio along with 3 days of weights with a trainer.
-
Glad things went so well.
-
I cant even believe it!

A fabulous vacation
vlp1968 replied to sweetbean70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got back from clubmed. They have breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets. My portions were a little large, but ate the right things. Higher in fat then I usually eat, but all lowcarb. I gained 1 pound (hopefully water retention). I was very proud of myself for resisting the bread, rice and desserts. -
It's my understanding that if you vary your workouts you kind of trick your body into loosing more fat. Your muscles don't have a chance to get used to the workout. I vary between treadmill, bike and step aerobic routing I do at home. Another thing is to do "interval training". That is were you go medium pace for a couple minutes then very fast for a couple minutes. I do 3 minutes medium then 2 minutes very fast. I find it makes the time go by faster too. Good luck!

3 month goals and weight loss, newbie needs help
vlp1968 replied to lovinlife4eva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think 60 pounds in 3.5 months is a lofty goal. I would expect about 10 pounds a month. Just think, anything more will be bonus. You sound like you know all the right things to do. Make it your goals to eat according to your eating plan and excersise almost daily. Good luck! -
Banded this morning... Quick question on liquids.
vlp1968 replied to StormRoyale's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds to me like you are being overly cautious. I would take medium size sips and see how it goes. It's my experience when I drink or eat something too fast I get a heartburn type pain in my chest. If you get that, slow down for sure. -
What the HELL
vlp1968 replied to One Love on the DL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is totally normal. Many people don't start loosing weight until they get restriction. For me it was 3 fills. Hang in there, it will get better! -
I have arrived (finally)
vlp1968 replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too am interested in hearing from anyone who had plastic surgery. I find the thought both exciting and terrifying. Surgery is a serious thing, and it is a huge one. I want to have boobs, stomach and arms done. I am about 20 pounds from goal, so it is starting to creep into my head. -
Who has really pushed themselves exercise-wise?
vlp1968 replied to adagray's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, I don't think there is such thing as too much excersise. Although, I have heard you should only do cardio 6 days a week. Not sure if that is true or not. Keep up the great work! -
Embarrassing Situation
vlp1968 replied to mizofatso's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think it would be a lift, but rather removal of the skin. If you can afford it, plastic surgery is the answer.
