  1. Congrats! Sounds like your off to a great start! Best wishes.
  2. I recovered quickly from surgery, as it seems most people do. I would say 2-3 days should do it. Moving around to take care of a 2 year old would probably be painful for a few days. Good luck on your surgery!
  3. It took me 3 fills to get to restriction. Since your too full for a real meal at dinner, sounds like you have some restriction. Best wishes!

    Exercise Goals #3

40 minutes on the treadmill- walk/jog. Felt really good. My goal is to do cardio 5-6 times a week and weights 3 times a week.

    3rd fill dilemma

My doc. goes by how much I'm eating and how long I stay full too. I would talk to your doc. about how it's going. The 2 of you can decide together if you need a fill. My guess is a small one would tweek things a bit, but I am not an expert by any means. Good luck!
  6. It's totally non-productive to beat yourself up. Life got stressfull and busy so you slacked a little. It's great you didn't gain! 65 pound loss is great! Judging from your post, you know exactly what to do. Now do it! You can get back on track! Keep us posted on how your doing. Best wishes!
  7. Sorry to hear you had trouble. Congrats on getting to goal! I would do 2 things. One is beef up your excersise. Also, focus on eating the right things, even if portions are a little bigger than when you have restriction. You can do it! Just remember how hard it was to get those last few pounds off. You don't want to go there again.
  8. What you are going through is perfectly normal. It is known as bandster hell. It's the time after surgery, before you get fills that bring you to restriction. Hang in there! It will get better. For now I would focus on eating the right things (low carb, low fat, high protien), even if they are larger portions than you will eat once a few fills kick in. Keep us posted on how your doing.
  9. 4 glasses of wine would really impede your weightloss. Not only the calories but it will reduce your inhibitions and you may eat something you shouldn't. If you factor in the calories, 1-2 glasses probably won't hurt.

    Mental Notes...

You are doing great. Positive thoughts are so important but can be tough. It's so easy to beat ourselves up. I know I still struggle with it. Congrats on your surgery!

    Exercise Goals #3

Worked out with my trainer- abs, which I hate. However my lower back is not bothering me anymore. I am sure it's a combination of strengthening abs and the weight loss. Took a day off from cardio.

    Long, but need help

Sounds like your a little tight. I would talk to the doctor about a slight unfill. He may not need to take everything out. I had a fill of .4 and needed an unfill. Doc. took out .3 and I was in a pretty good place for a while. Good luck!

    Exercise Goals #3

I did a step aerobic routine at home. It's about 40 minutes. I am able to do it more intensly (kicking higher et..) than I used to. It makes 4 days in a row of doing cardio. Weight trainer tomorrow- abs yuck!

    Discouraged...

Sounds like to me you do need a fill. You seem to be experiencing a lot of hunger. The getting stuck episodes are probably because your eating too quickly and not chewing enough. Best of luck, keep up posted.
  15. I too was dissapointed the band didn't work right away. My second fill was 4 weeks from the first. I had been hungry but didn't think to ask to do it sooner. I don't know what my doc. would have done. It took 3 fills for me to feel restriction. Until then, it is doing it on your own. Until you have restriciton I would focus on eating the right things (low carb, low fat, high protien) for now, even if your portions are larger than what they will be with restriction. You can do it! The band will work, even if it doesn't feel like that now.
  16. Great job! You are doing great, you'll be at goal before you know it.

    Too Full?

Swelling can happen after a fill. As long as you can keep fluids down you might want to wait a few days. If your still having trouble, I would get some taken out.
  18. Yes it is perfectly normal. You haven't had any fills yet. The first month is about healing, not weight loss. I know it's frustrating, I expected the band to work right away. It took 3 fills for me to feel any kind of restriction. Hang in there, it will get better. For now, I would focus on eating the right things (low carb, low fat, high protien), even if they are larger portions than what you will eat once you have restriction. Best wishes!

    going for a fill

You have a great attitude. You sound ready to get back on track.
  21. Hi All, Just wondering how people banded around the same time as me are doing. I was banded on Nov. 16th 09. I have lost 88.5 pounds as of Sunday, bringing me to 128.5 My goal is between 110 and 115 (I am only 4'11"). I hope to achieve that by my 1 year mark. I workout about 4 days a week with cardio and 3 days a week with my trainer on weights. Weight loss has sure slowed down. I lost a total of 3 pounds in the last month. I know it's to be expected but still not fun. I know if I up the cardio that will help. Look forward to reading updates.
  22. I am a little over 8 months out and still have cravings. They have lessened for sure. They also don't last as long as they used to. Due to addiction issues I plan to stay away from refined carbs and high fat foods from now on. So far so good. It does get better, hang in there. You are off to a great start!

    Pressure from Others

I like the idea of saying you don't know how much you lost because you are not weighing yourself. Listing nsv's (nonscale victories) is a great idea too.

    Exercise Goals #3

35 minutes walk/jog on the treadmill. Goal for tomorrow is 40 minutes.

    Need a jump start

Adding in formal workouts would really help. Try to change of what you do, so your body doesn't get used to it. Also, varying your calories from day to day is supposed to help, tricking your body into loosing fat.
