Glad to hear your band didn't slip! Do you think you could be eating to fast/not chewing enough?????

Good workout on the treadmill. 40 minutes of walk/jog. I increased the jog time from 2 to 3 minutes. Felt really good.

For Bandsters who are hypo- or hyper- thyroid
vlp1968 replied to Fern's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have hypo too- I have lost fairly steadily since being banded Nov. 2009. My levels have been where they should be. My doc. wants to keep an eye on it though- he said dosage is weight related. -
Question About Pouch Stretching
vlp1968 replied to justinsmami91's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think the pouch stretches that easily. The stomach has a lot of give to it. However, I'm going to talk to the doc. about it when I see him in a week. I haven't had restriction in about 2 weeks so I am a little concerned about stretching. -
Why am I so scared of Slippage?!?!?!?
vlp1968 replied to LaurenT626's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc. says if the band slipped you suddently wouldn't be able to keep anything down. I think you are fine. Congrats on your surgery! -
40 minutes walk/jog on the treadmill. Ran into a friend at the gym which made the time go by much faster.

Ended up in Emergency Room. ByeBye Blood Pressure Meds
vlp1968 replied to Startingoverat50's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you! I know how excited I was to get off not only blood pressure, but blood sugar and choesterol meds. -
Hi all, I am wondering where people stand on the idea of being a food addict. I have other addiction issues, and consider food to be just another one. I completly stay away from refined carbs and high fat foods. My feeling is I will have to abstain for the rest of my life. I am no good at doing things in moderation. Do others feel the same way? I am curious to read people's feedback. Thanks!

I would discuss your concerns with your doctor. I agree, being overfilled while your out of town would not be good to say the least. Again, talk to your doc. and the 2 of you can come up with a plan.

I want the weight to come off!
vlp1968 replied to reginemichel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would add start working out if you haven't already. If you are, try an increase time and/or intensity. It really does wonders for weightloss. I had a stall in weightloss but then kicked up what I do on the treadmill. I lost 1.5 pounds last week. I am happy with that, as I am getting down to the last 15 pounds or so. -
My doc. says no carbonation too. Same reason, can cause the pouch to stretch. As for a slipped band my doc. said you suddenly wouldn't be able to keep anything down, including liquids. 2 good questions.

Good for you! Isn't it nice shopping can actually be fun. Best wishes and keep up the great work!

Losing my Hair!!!
vlp1968 replied to sicilianpride85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know loosing hair is scary. It was happening to me so I went to the dermatologist. Much to my relief he told me I won't go bald. He said your body goes into a kind of shock with rapid weightloss. Just give it a little time and it should resolve itsself. I have read people using biotin, don't know anything about it. Best wishes! -
10 months and FINALLY restriction at 6cc!
vlp1968 replied to Queen Fig's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad you finally got to restriction. I am sure the doc.s error was frustrating. Keep up the good work! -
Had my surgery Thursday morn. and just now feeling a little better
vlp1968 replied to Nutster_98's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there! It does get better. I would try protien shakes if your doc allows them the first week post surgery, mine did. Infact, I buy them at Walmart. EAS carb control. They come in vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. I find I like the taste but it took a little getting used to. Good luck on your journey! -
Questioin-3 month mark on August 4th-38 lbs down?!?!?
vlp1968 replied to thin in 2011's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your weightloss is awsome! It does sound like you could use a small fill. I would talk to your doc. about it. Keep up the good work! -
Yes- I believe a liquid diet for a few days can help in getting over a plateau. Glad you saw the scale move. Keep up the good work!

Did a 40 minute step aerobic routine at home. Plan to go to the gym tomorrow and do the treadmill.

If we can't drink while we eat does that mean no spicy foods?
vlp1968 replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't tolerate spicy foods since being banded. I once tried some really spicy chicken sausage and it came right back up. Guess everyone is different. No reason not to try something spicy and see how you do. -
HELP ! Exteme fluctuations with band restriction!! What to do?
vlp1968 replied to Barb119's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel the same way. I do a protien shake for breakfast (after I workout around 11) I eat lunch around 2:30 and usually still have some restriction. By 4 I am starving. I go for a fill a week from Monday- can't wait. -
Good for you! I had lots of small clothes in my closet that now are too big! I have 3 garbage bags full of clothes for my sister. If she doesn't want them they are going to good will. Never to be needed by me again.

40 minutes walk/jog on the treadmill again. I weigh myself Sun. hope the cardio I'm doing will pay off!

The mind catching up to the body is a tough thing. I have lost 89 pounds and still get surprised when I catch a glimpse of myself in a mirror. Also, people are starting to tell me I don't need to loose anymore weight. This shocks me. I think I need to loose about 20 more pounds. The psychologist involved with my wls told me to do 2 things. One is take a picture of myself every month. I do a front and profile shot in my bathing suit. I started a scrap book. It helps to look back and see how far I've come. She also said to keep one "fat outfit". Again, it helps me see how far I've come. It is hard, but important that you get a realistic body image. If you still feel fat, it can become a self profiling prophecy. Good luck to all!

A little over one week post op and already hungry!?!?!
vlp1968 replied to Rebeccastl615's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree- talk to your doc. about advancing to the next stage ahead of time. It's probably alright but I would check to be sure. Also, just be prepared that the first fill may not give you restriction. It took me 3 fills to get any restriction. I hope it works but just want you to realize it may not. Hang in there! You will get there and love your band. -
caricap- you are doing great! I worked out with my trainer- upper body. She really kicked me ass. We have moved from machines to free weights- they are harder for sure. Also did 40 minutes walk/jog on the treadmill.
