He needs to lose weight too but won't try...
vlp1968 replied to jingleboob's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with Betsy 100%. You cannot control what he decides to eat. Only he can do that. However, if he does take steps to get healthier you can be as supportive as anything. I have an obese sister who a wish would do something about it. She has tried off and on but hasn't been able to stick to a plan. She mentioned weight watchers, and I was excited for her. I told her how healthy I think the program is and that the meetings are very helpfull. She hasn't mentioned it since. We cannot control what others decide to put into there mouths, as much as we care about them. I agree with Betsy that you need to accept him just the way he is. -
Treadmill for 40 walk/jog. It seemed harder today then in the past but I did it.

I burp a lot when I eat or drink a protien shake. The tighter I am, the more I burp.

Help.... What are the effects of a Slipped Band
vlp1968 replied to itsalmosttime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like you are just too tight. I would go in for an unfill. The sign of slipage is not being able to keep down evern water. However, since you just had a fill I would bet that's what it is. Good luck! -
Froggie D- great job! Goes to show how much excersise helps with weight loss. I worked out with my trainer today- abs. I took a day off from cardio. Lost 2 pounds last week- I am pleased with that as I am only 4 pounds away from my goal.

Did my usual walk/jog on the teadmill for 40 minutes. Can't wait to weigh myself on Sunday.

What is the ultimate goal?
vlp1968 replied to MrMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me, there are foods I plan to never introduce back into my diet. They include things such as desserts, fried foods, fast food. I have other addiction issues, and consider food one of them. I am simply not able to do things in moderation. I am almost at goal, I hope this plan works for me in the long run. I've lost the weight before but never kept it off for long. -
newly banded and NOT so good :(
vlp1968 replied to Elliottsmama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I suggest you eat the right foods (high protien, low carb, low fat) even if your portions are larger then they will be once you have restriction. Also, allow yourself snacks so you don't get too hungry inbetween meals. I also highly reccomend an excersise program. Start out slow, then gradually increase your time and/or intensity. You can do this! Good luck! -
For me, it seems like it's the pouch filling up too fast, as oppossed to something getting stuck. I cough and it usually comes up.

I use my scale at home. Like others have said, doctor visits aren't often enough and that weight includes clothes and whatever may be in your stomach. I weigh in once or maybe twice a week- record it every sunday. I always weigh in the morning, after using the bathroom, in my underwear.

3 months out and no loss
vlp1968 replied to Jungle Jen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will get easier once you have restriction. Keep getting your fills and you will get there. I agree- journaling what your eating may really help. I encourage you to start excersising if you haven't already- it does wonders for weight loss. -
40 minutes walk/jog on the treadmill. I have consistently done my cardio and it is paying off with weightloss. monkeymama- great idea to use the time your son is at practice to get a workout in. Keep it up!

Please help! I'm Stalled!!
vlp1968 replied to titiay30's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your weightloss is good. You should only expect 1-2 pounds a week. 57 pounds in 6.5 months is great. Excersise will really help. Start off slow and gradually increase the duration/intensity. Get back to eating properly, a few days of liquid (protien shakes) may help get rid of your cravings for carbs. Good luck! -
I have had 3 fills that gave me problems- couldn't even keep down a protien shake. I waited them out thinking it was swelling. For 2 I had to go back for an unfill- and still had some restriction. The third time, I waited it out and ended up being fine. I have lots of restriction in the morning, but get hungrier than I'd like by late afternoon. I am so tight in the morning I am afraid to go in for a fill.

Wish me luck going to get a beatdown today
vlp1968 replied to gbakerc's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If your doc. is a good one- he won't berate you. You seem very ready to get back on track. You know what to do- you can do this! I highly reccoment starting a workout routine if you haven't already. I increased my intensity and the scale has started moving again. Good luck! -
How many of you drink coffee?
vlp1968 replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to drink 4-5 cups a day(preop) now it's 2-3. I am pretty tight in the morning so I have to take it slow. My nut. is fine with coffee. -
too tight,, now too loose
vlp1968 replied to Whillow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had the same issue- going from too tight to loose. Right now I am in an ok place- very tight in the morning and it loosens up across the day. I am hungrier than I'd like to be from late afternoon on. I am so tight in the morning I am afraid to get a fill. Keep working with your doctor. I know it's hard to ride the waves of hunger but you can do it! Your weight loss is great! I hope the next fill does it for you. -
I would deffinately go in for an unfill if you can't even keep water down. You are in danger of getting dehyrdrated. The doc. may not take all of it out and hopefully you will have restriction.

When do you see weight loss?
vlp1968 replied to jamelyn1979's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If your clothes are getting looser you are shrinking! Don't worry so much about the scale. You may be building some muscle from your cardio. Sounds like you are doing very well- keep it up. -
Been keeping up with cardio- but took a day off today because I worked out legs with my trainer. She really kicked my butt- I bet I'll be sore tomorrow.
-
My nut. said no drinking 15 min. before or 15 minutes after eating. I have actually found I feel fuller once I start drinking- go figure.
-
I think therapy is a great idea. You need to learn healthy ways of dealing with your emotions. You can do this, but it does take work. You may not even need therapy long term, just someone to help you get started on a new healthier life. Good luck!

Awsome job. I went on vacation a couple months ago and lost .5 pounds. I too had thought I might gain- was thrilled I didn't.
