Super Scared about my upcomming fill.
vlp1968 replied to hotsexyrunnerchick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Does your doc. use a local? If he hasn't, I would ask for one. That way if they need a few tries to get at the port you won't feel it. -
I need Lunch Ideas Please
vlp1968 replied to use-to-be-cute's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As far as the tuna goes- low fat mayo only has 20 cals a tablespoon. I buy mini cans of tuna- 80 cals each. I eat it on Kavili garlic crackers- in the bread isle at publix. 3 good size crackers has 50 cals and 10 grams of carbs. -
I hear ya- I never had much of a but and now it's way flatter. I plan on doing surgery, thinking about a butt implant.

Dr won't fill tight enough...
vlp1968 replied to Sheer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your doc. should be listening to you more. I would say get a new doc. but you explained why you don't want to. I would go in with specific "data". Tell the doc. exactly what your eating and how long you stay full (if you get full at all. Don't let the doc. make you feel wierd for asking questions, it is a very legitament one. My doc. is totally upfront about the size of my band and always tells me how much he's going to put in and what that brings me up to. Don't be afraid to stick up for yourself! Good luck. -
Quick Breakfast foods?
vlp1968 replied to csadoney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink a protien shake for breakfast- I'm too tight in the morning for anything else. How about a protein bar? They have a few different ones at Walmart. I get the Atkins ones, high in protein and low in carbs. -
I burp a lot. Usually when I am eating or drinking a protien shake. When I feel like I have to burp but can't I walk around and that often helps.

I agree with the above post that music may help the boredom quite a bit. I hope you enjoy the karate!

Seems like things are going very well for you. Congrats on your weightloss. You are off to a good start! Keep up the good work.

I read somewhere to bring a small pillow to put between you and the seatbelt for the ride home. I did it and was comfortable in the car. -
Possible PORT PAIN!! AND nervous.
vlp1968 replied to LeeM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure what to tell you except if it's that painful I would call your doctor. Maybe they can prescribe some pain medicine to get you through until Monday. -
I had my Mom around for a few days, although it probably wasn't neccessary. I agree with the above post, ask your mom to spend a little time with you. It can't hurt.

You are doing great! If your not excersising already, it will help those last 20 pounds fade away. If you are, you may want to up the intensity. It has worked for me in getting those last 10 pounds off.

Suggestions/Advice/Kick In The Butt Needed
vlp1968 replied to Rebeccastl615's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You clearly know exactly what to do. Now it's just a matter of focusing and doing it. Excersise is key for sure. When I have had stalls in weightloss, I have uped the intensity of my workouts and the scale starts moving again. You can do this! Getting the band was a huge step toward getting healthy, now you just need to put the good food choices and excersise into play. -
I keep meaning to ask the doc. about this. However, it's my understanding the stomach has lots of give to it. I think it would take lots of overeating for months to significanly stretch the pouch. Also, if you can eat lots at one time, you are probably loose enough that it is all going quickly to your big stomach.

Questions about post op feelings
vlp1968 replied to eadreel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't go through that. Everything stayed down just fine until I started getting fills. However, I think your doc. is right. Surgery probably caused swelling. Take it easy and try to get some fluids in. You don't want to get dehydrated. It will get better! -
I need smaller pants again!!!
vlp1968 replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awsome work! Clothes getting to big is a great feeling. I desperatly need some new clothes (almost at goal) but am waiting. I am going to see my mom and sister in a couple weeks and we will go shopping together. It's nice to have outside opinions. Can't wait! -
I agree with the above advice. You probably have some swelling. Give it a few days to calm down. That is, as long as liquids are going down. When I've had trouble with protien shakes, I have watered them down. Hope you feel better soon.

Erosion of the lap band
vlp1968 replied to Okiciyape's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc. said erosion happens in 1% of cases. -
How are the banded Notorious Novembers???
vlp1968 replied to mljalways's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded Nov. 16, 2009. I am almost at goal and the 100 pound mark. 99 pounds as of Sunday. I want to loose another 5 and then be prepared to gain a pound or 2 when I start reintroducing healthy carbs and fat. -
It is very typical to be tighter in the morning than in the afternoon/evening. newstacy09- IMHO your are not too tight. As long as you are eating enough to get your protien and calories in, I think your in a good place. Be sure to get your fluids in as well. Good luck!

To exercise or not to exercise...
vlp1968 replied to dlynn44's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally agree with the above post. Excersise is vital to healthy weightloss. The benefits are just to numerous not to do it. When I've stalled I have increased the intensity of my workouts and the scale has started moving again. It is very difficult to start a workout regime but once you do it becomes second nature. For those starting out, start out slow and gradually increase the intensity and/or duration. -
Old habits.....creeping back in
vlp1968 replied to ELJB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's frustrating to have the band, but it isn't working. Fills will provide restriction eventually, hang in there! It took me 3 fills to feel any restriction. Until you have restriction I suggest you eat the right foods (high protien, low carb, low fat) even if your portions are bigger then they will be when you have restriction. Good luck! -
To Weigh or Not To Weigh
vlp1968 replied to rkwilliams1013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a strong believer in the once a week weigh in. I weigh in on Sun. morning, after using the bathroom. with my undies on. I record it. If I weighed in more the natural flucuations drive me crazy. -
How much weight have u lost?
vlp1968 replied to lml398's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 11/16/09. I have lost 99 pounds, can't wait to hit that 100 pound mark- hopefully at my weekly weigh in sunday. -
What are you craving???
vlp1968 replied to missgypsy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't crave sweets really. I am missing pizza, chinese food, fried chicken, hot chicken wings dipped in blue cheese. The cravings go almost as fast as they sneak up on me.
