All the NSV's are so nice to read. I am glad my post caught on.

I am also 10 months out and love my band.

I suggest you start journaling your food intake. It is very helpfull to see it on paper. Keep track of your protien and calories. Also, if your not already, I highly recommend starting an excersise program. Start slow and gradually increase the intensity and/or duration. Also, liquids for 2-3 days may help get you back on track. As others posted, you may need a fill.

Holy fill! What do I eat now??
vlp1968 replied to celialou's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree- as long as you can keep down liquids I would give ita few days. If protien shakes give you trouble, try watering them down. It has helped me get passed the few days after a fill. Feel better! -

Did your incision's itch?
vlp1968 replied to tle5000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with the benadryl- works wonders on itching. -
I have reached my goal weight! I lost 104 pounds. I am so excited, still can't believe I'm done. I plan to weigh myself everyday and do something if I gain 3 pounds or more. Probably do liquids for a couple days. Thanks for listening, just had to share my good news.

Fantastic, I am sure if feels great. Keep up the good work!

Week 3 Post Op Eating too much
vlp1968 replied to pibirdman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are all in what is affectionatly known as bandster hell. The time after surgery, before restriction kicks in. I suggest you guys concentrate on eating the right foods (low fat, low carb) even if the portions are larger than they will be once you have restriction. It took me 3 fills to have any kind of restriction. Just know it will happen. -
Good for you! Isn't it nice to see cravings minimize or even go away altogether. Keep up the good work!

how long to wait 1st fill????
vlp1968 replied to carebear99's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc. waited 6 weeks. I know it's tough until you get restriction- that's why it's known as bandster hell. Just know it will happen, may take a few fills. After the first one my doc. did them closer together when needed. -
You rock! Keep up the good work!

close to onderland and just had my first fill- liquids?
vlp1968 replied to ashmd2b's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have ended up doing liquids for a few days after my last few fills. I had swelling that made me very tight. You want to make sure your not vomiting, as that makes swelling worse. I wouldn't reccomend doing it to increase weight loss. You want to be developing good eating habits that will stay with you through the journey. Good luck! -
That's a great way to think about it. I too did weight watchers, love the program, but I just wasn't ready at the time. I am just beggining maintaince so I hope I am in the permanet lifestyle changes.

Wow, you have been through a rough time. I bet the antibiotics will work and you will heal, I hope it's quickly. My thoughts are with you! -
How much food is enough?
vlp1968 replied to zeniada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Once you have restriction I reccomend that you eat until your not hungry. I have found since banded that I don't get the same "full" feeling. I have to admit I miss it. For me it's an uncomfortable feeling if I eat even a little too much. Until you have restriction I suggest you focus on eating the right foods, even if your portions are bigger than they will be when you have restriction. -
What to do about clothes...
vlp1968 replied to Twinkles's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Get rid of the oversized clothes! However you do it, I think it's really important. You will never need those clothes again! Keep up the good work! -
I think you are fine. If your worried about stretching your pouch, don't be. It takes months of really overeating to do that. Right now your band is not tight around your stomach. The food you eat is going right into your big stomach. Remember the first weeks are for healing, not weight loss. That's good you called the dr. just to be sure, but I don't think you have anything to worry about.
-
If it's been over 2 weeks, any swelling has probably gone away. I would make an appt. and talk to the doc. The 2 of you can decide about an unfill. Even a small unfill can make a world of difference. Good luck!

HELP! I've fallen and I can't get back up....lol
vlp1968 replied to Grandma26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My advice is to up your excersise. That's great you kept up your workouts even though you weren't always making good food choices. I think you are right that that is what kept you from gaining. You don't say what exactly your doing. I would increase the intensity and/or duration of what you are doing. Another piece of advice is to simply not keep the "bad foods" in the house. I know it may be difficult if you have a family and they wan't that stuff. Maybe find things they like, that you don't care for. It's important to reduce temptation as much as possible. As far as outings such as a bbq, bringing your own food may be a solution. -
That is fantastic! I know how excited I was to get off my meds. Keep up the good work!

Horizen BCBS - Finally Paid!!!
vlp1968 replied to cynpatt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you! I am jealous- my insurance didn't cover mine. However the money was so worth it. I love my band! -
I looked in the mirror one day and my face had drooped. I am going to have plastic surgery and may add a facelift to the agenda.

Good advice above. I would add that you should start working out if you havn't already. It helps so much with weightloss. I have stalled- and when I increased the intensity on the treadmill the scale started moving again. It's tough to get started but eventually it becomes second nature. You can do this!
