  1. I hope your sister feels better soon. In the 200's for blood sugar is quite high. However, if she always runs that high than I guess that's probably not it. That's good you have a call in to the doctor. Again, hope she feels better soon.
  2. Sounds like you may be a bit too tight. It shouldn't be uncomfortable to eat or drink. You are right to be worried about dehydration. I have been too tight and hesitated to go in for an unfill. I suffered needlessly. When I finally went in, I still had restriciton after the unfill. You may want to call Mon. morning and see if they can squeeze you in sooner, tell them it's an emergency. Until then, try to get as much water in as possible. Hope you feel better soon.
  3. Sorry you are having trouble. I hope you get it corrected soon. Try to be patient, although I am sure it's difficult.

    How Long...???

When I am pretty tight, like after a fill it, takes me about 30 minutes. When I am a bit looser it's more like 15-20.

    What do you eat!?

I was cleared to eat solids 2 weeks post op. First week was full liquids (ie. protien shakes) and 2nd was mushies. I have a fairly limited selection of what I ate while I was loosing- here it is: Perdue perfect portion chicken- marinated skinless boneless chicken breast Marinated port loin Low fat cheese sticks and cottage cheese almonds- 1/4 cup fish boca burgers low carb veggies- green beans, yellow squash, asperagus, spinach et.. berries- they are much lower in carbs than other fruit Hope this helps and good luck!
  7. I agree, men have a distinct advantage. Their bodies naturally have more muscle, which means they have a higher metabolism. I love the show though.
  8. I agree-salad is not a slider food. Once you get to solids, salad will be great. Be sure to add protien such as chicken or tuna. Best wishes!
  9. I lost 107 pounds in about 10 months. So that's an average of about 10 pounds a month. Some months were less and some more. You can expect to loose weight fairly quickly at first, and then it slows down as you get closer to goal. Best wishes!
  10. Changing up your excersise- or starting a program- is key. It will really help in getting that scale to move consistently. As far as calories, I ate about 1000 when I was loosing. As far as meat, I like marinated meat. I buy perdue perfect portions. They are great- indivdually wrapped and a "perfect portion" . I stick the bag in the freezer and take out one at a time. They have different flavored marinades. I also buy marinated port loin. It is very lean and also comes in a variety of flavors. Hope this helps! Good luck!
  11. The 30 minute rule for drinking seems pretty standard. However, I was told 15 minutes and it's been working for me. Sounds like you are eating just fine. I believe it's ok to eyeball the amount of food. A lot of measuring and weighing seems kind of anal to me. However, I know it works for some people. If it makes you feel comfortable do it. You are sticking with protien first and that is good. When I was loosing I would eat about 4 oz of lean meat and about 1/2c veggies. Hope this helps and good luck.
  12. My surgery went extremely smooth. It only took about 40 mins. and I woke up pretty alert. Only needed pain meds once in the hospital and the percecet they sent me home with a couple times a day. The only time I was really in "pain" was when I moved around a lot. Also riding in the car bothered me. Bring a pillow to put between you and the seatbelt. I have been very successful with the band. I lost 107 pounds in about 10 months. I love my band and with the tool, I am confident it will stay off this time. Best of luck! Let us know how it goes.
  13. You are doing great. I am sure that working out has a lot to do with it. Keep up the great work!
  14. My guess is you are weighing yourself everyday. The natural flucuations will drive you crazy. When I was loosing I only weighed myself once a week (well cheated a few times) and recorded it. Especially if it's gettting you discouraged I would think about getting on the scale less often. Good luck!
  15. What a difference! Keep up the good work!
  16. I was very excited to get my first fill. However, it didn't provide any restriction. Just be aware it may take several fills. Just want you to be prepared for that. Good luck in your journey!
  17. Great job! Excersie makes all the difference doesn't it. You will be at goal before you know it. Keep up the good work!
  18. I haven't been shy about telling people I had wls. It is not anything to be ashamed of in my opinion. As far as your weight loss- you are doing great! I am wondering how often you weigh yourself. Daily flucuations will drive you crazy. When I was loosing I weighed in once a week and recorded it. I did cheat a few times and got on the scale more often. Now that I am maintaining, I weigh myself everyday.
  19. Hang in there- it will get better. It took me 3 fills to have any kind of restriction. Just know it will happen, keep getting your fills and try to be patient. As far as surviving "bandster hell" I would focus on eating the right foods. The portions may be larger than when you have restriction. Also, if you haven't already, start excersising. It has been the key to success for me. Start out slow and gradually increase the intensity/duration. Good luck!
  20. I agree with all of the above, I would increase to 1200 cals and also increase the intensity of your workouts. That worked for me at every stall. Good luck!

    Loss to a halt!

I second Betsy's plug for excersise. It's just too good a thing not to do it. It's tough to get started, but it becomes second nature. It becomes just part of your day. Start out slow and gradually increase the intensity and/or duration. When I stalled, I increased the speed on the treadmill and the scale started moving again. I lost 107 pounds in about 10 months. You can do it!
  22. Yes, you could have swelling for sure. It can take overnight for that to happen. I have been fine to eat the night of a fill (although I wasn't suppossed to) and had great difficulty in the morning. I wouldn't rush into an unfill- stick to liquids for a few days and see if things settle down. By liquids I am including protien shakes. If you can't keep them down I would go in Monday for sure. Hope you feel better soon.
  23. Actually oatmeal is a carb. so that wasn't the problem. I too don't stay full as long as I'd like. I eat 5-6 times a day. 3 meals and 2-3 snacks. Hopefully with more fills you will stay full longer. It took me 3 fills to feel any restriction.
  24. If your not already, excersise will help you tremendously in reaching your goal. It's made all the difference for me. Start out slow and gradually increase the intensity and/or duration. Best wishes!

    Hair loss - Anyone?

My hair started thinning so I went to the dermatologist. He reassured me I wouldn't go bald. He said it was probably from the rapid weightloss. That or my thyroid, which checked out fine. I am noticing a bit less hair in the shower drain so hopefully it's tapering off.
