  1. I have read on this forum that bands can hold more than what they are labeled as. I hope this is true and you can get another fill. It must be terribly frustrating. Good job on your weight loss! I hope restriction happens soon.
  2. Excersise is key to weight loss. It's been my saving grace in my weight loss journey. If your not doing it yet, I highly reccomend you do. If you are then bump it up by working out more often, more intensly or for a longer amount of time. The benefits are just too good to pass up. It's very difficult to begin, but it becomes second nature. I hope your next fill does the trick in controling your appetitie. Hang in there, restriction will happen.

    I love this place!!

I too am so glad I found this site. The support and encouragement has really helped me on my journey. I only wish I had found it before surgery, I would have been better prepared. How long have you been banded? Best wishes!

    My little revelations :)

That's great! It can be difficult to seperate true hunger from "head hunger". That's awsome that you can do that. I think taking yourself away from the food at sam's for a bit was a great idea. You could apply the same idea at a party, stay away from the table full of food. Congrats on starting your journey!
  5. I asked my doc. how you would know the band slipped. He said suddenly you can't keep anything down, not even water. Of course if you've just had a fill then that is probably the cause. He said it slips in about 3% of cases, so the odds are with us. Take care
  6. Thanks for sharing. You are doing great. I am very pleased with my success with the band as well. Also like you said, just wish I had done it sooner!

    Unfill or not?

I agree with elfiepoo- make a "just in case" appt. and wait it out for a few days. You may have swelling that will subside. Hope you feel better soon!
  8. No, you don't have to go back on liquids. From reading posts here, doctors give different instructions for a post-op diet. My doc. said full liquids for one week, then soft foods for a week, then regualr food. I followed that and was absolutey fine. Good luck on your journey!

    help!

I would call your doctor and explain you need to be seen ASAP. Tell them it's an emergency (which I think it is). My doc. has come in on days he doesn't usually see patients (although he is nearby at the hospital) to do an unfill. Try to get as much water in as possible, although it sounds like it's uncomfortable. I agree that liquids until you see your doc. is probably a good idea. Hope you feel better soon!
  10. Glad you found something that works for you! Keep up the good work!

    Caution!: Over fill!

Being too tight is not fun for sure. I have had several small fills that pushed me over the edge. Strangely enough each time he took out more than what he put in and it gave me good restriction. I am at goal and am in a good place. Let's hope it stays that way.

    I'm SICK *cough*cough*

I have a sore throat and congested cough. I have been taking tylenol, musinex and sudafed. They are working wonders. I agree with checking in with your doc. or pharmacist. Feel better!
  13. I go to a support group once a month. I really enjoy it. It always gives me something to think about. I too, live an hour away and don't like driving in the dark. I am lucky that my parents join me and do the driving. There support has meant a lot to me.
  14. Here are my tips: High Protein (at least 60 grams) low carb and low fat. I workout 5-6 days a week- cardio, 3 days a week weights I eat in a very structured way- I plan in the morning (or the night before) what I will eat for the day. I also eat around the same times every day. I eat 5-6 times a day, 3 meals and 2-3 Snacks I am also just lucky to have a body that responds nicely when I do the right things. I've lost the weight before but never been able to keep it off. This time I have a tool and it will stay off forever!

    Size 10!!!!

Awsome! It goes to show our bodies change even when the scale doesn't budge. Keep up the good work!

    FINALLY off my bp meds

That's great you are off the bp meds. I know how excited I was when I got off mine. Keep up the good work!
  17. My doc. said if your band slips you suddenly can't keep anything down, not even water. It happens in 3% of cases, so the odds are with you. Good luck in your journey.
  18. Your weight will naturally flucuate from day to day. This is from fluid retention, hormones et.. Try to only weigh yourself once a week. Everyday flucuations are enough to drive you crazy.
  19. I rely on chicken breast, fish, lean port loin, tuna for high protien. Also started eating beef jerky for a snack, it has lot's of protien.

    Nsv

That's great! I too used to hate it when they had to bring out the larger cuff. I love to hear peoples nsv's.
  21. I am glad the band is finally working for you. Of course I hope there is no tumor. That's good your getting checked out. Best wishes!

    are you serious?

Keep up the positive attitude. You can do this!
  23. It took me 3 fills to feel any restriction. You are in what is known as "bandster hell". It's the time between surgery and when you get restriction. Hang in there, it will happen. For a few lucky people the first fill does the trick, I hope that is the case for you. Good luck on your journey.
  24. You are right. I am sure the weight gain is due to the fluids pumped into you before and afte surgery. Good luck on your journey!
  25. Walking is great- like others have said gradually increase the intensity/duration of your workouts. I agree with others who have said not to use weights while you walk. However, seperate weight training will help tons. It increases your metabolism all day long. Not to mention you will get nice and toned.
