I wouldn't wait too long to go in for a slight unfill. It is not good to pb et... it damages your esophogous. I waited out being too tight several times and suffered needlessly. When I went in for an unfill, I still had restriction but could keep solids down. Good luck and feel better.

You are not being selfish by taking care of yourself. Think of how much more you'll have to give family and friends as you loose more weight- congrats on what you've lost so far!. You will continue to have more energy, be more confident et...

What is your support accussing you of? Of course he/she shouldn't be accussing at all. That is not supportive. My father is like that. Makes comments about my weight and what I eat. I have tried to tell him politely and respectively that it is not helpfull. He just doesn't seem to be able to help himself. Anyway- sounds like you are sticking to the post op diet- good for you! Keep posting here, you will find tons of support and advice.

Benadryl very well may help the itching. I would see a dermatologist. I am sure they can prescribe something and maybe give you advice on preventative measures, I'm not sure but maybe powder to keep those areas dry. Hope it clears up soon!

You did great! Start off slow and gradually increase your intensity/duration. Excersise is half the battle in my opinion. Keep it up!

? On Carb Amounts Post Band
vlp1968 replied to csking's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I find I don't loose weight unless I eat low-carb, even if I just stick to "good carbs" my weight loss stalls. Also I have diebeties, another reason to restrict carbs. I was able to get off my blood sugar medication. I stick to high protien such as fish, chicken, eggs, eat non-starchy veggies, snack on nuts and cheese and have the occassional LC protien shake. I agree with what was said, everybodies body is different, find what works for you. -
I was told by my surgeon that if the band slips you suddently can't keep anything down- even water. Sounds like you are fine. Try not to worry.

Trouble Eating Randomly?
vlp1968 replied to JustineD06's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stay safe! Maybe stick to liquids for a few days and see if that helps. Hopefully you have a supply of protien shakes. My thoughts are with you and everyone in the NE. -
Getting Ahead Of Myself
vlp1968 replied to CarrieBrownsville's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow- 8 weeks until solids is a really long time. I spent one week on full liquids, one week on mushies then solids. I had no problems. However, I agree with others who are saying to call and check with your doctor before advancing your diet. Good luck! -
Drs. Feedback.... So Incredibly Happy =)
vlp1968 replied to Nayelli Q.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are doing amazing! Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing your program with us. -
Hi, I did weight watchers a while back without much success. I think I just wasn't ready. I am thinking of joining. I think the structure and the almost theraputic meetings will be good for me. I know the diet isn't extremely band friendly- seems like a lot of carbs. Do you think it makes sense to join, go to the meetings, but tweek the diet a little? I may have the wrong impression about the diet- it's been a long time and I don't really remember the details. Just know you count points and points of food is based on fat, fiber and cals (i think). Would love to hear from anybody who has or is doing the program. I have heard they are not very wls friendly, so I doubt I will bring that up at a meeting. Thanks!

Halloween Horror Nights Anyone???
vlp1968 replied to JennyBee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad you had a great time- and the walking probably balanced out the sundae. My sister lives in Orlando and loves horror nights. I think she is going at least 3 times this year. Frankly I don't get it, but whatever lol. Good job! -
Any One Else Feel Dizzy?
vlp1968 replied to Kato2685's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dizziness, in my experience, is caused by low blood pressure or low blood sugar. Do you have a history of high blood pressure or diebeties? If you do, I would deffinately talk to your primary physician. Any meds your on may need to be eliminated or reduced. I know your only 6 days post-op, but your drastic change in diet could be having an effect. My blood sugar got to low while on meds for it that I passed out. Not good of course. I would look into it. Take Care! -
I agree- let it go for now. You don't need your mom's drama as you are recovering and starting your new lifestyle. This time is about you! I am lucky to have a supportive, loving mom (and dad) and can't imagine otherwise. Like said already, just because someone is family, doesn't mean you need them in your life. I would take a time out from mom for now. Maybe in a few months, once things are settled you can initiate some kind of reconciliation with her. Just a thought. Good luck and congrats on your surgery!

I asked my surgeon how you would know if the band slipped, he said suddenly you wouldn't be able to keep anything down, even liquids. Your fine. Maybe you need a fill. I would meet with your doc. and discuss it. Good Luck!

I lost all my excess weight after surgery in 9/09. In the last year I have gained about 50 pounds back. My father is trying to be supportive I know but I find his feedback and comments on what I'm eating soooo unhelpful. I have expressed this to him in a kind way, yet he keeps doing it. I know it's out of love and concern- and I have told him that, but also told him I don't like it and it's not helpfull. He comes off as critical and judgemental- haven't said that to him. Any advice on how to handle it. I do love him and know he loves me. I don't want to be disrespecful, but I really need him to stop. Anyone else faceing a similar issue with a friend or family member? Thanks!

You go girl! Welcome to onederland!

I have had a rough time lately and have gone back to protien shakes. My tentative plan is to do that for 3 days then gradually introduce a meal. Wondering if others have done this, and how exactly they did it (how long did you stay on shakes et...) and if it worked to get back on track. Thanks!

It Is Like I Never Had Surgery Sometimes
vlp1968 replied to prettysmart1913's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope things get better for those starting out and frustrated. Patience is hard. Keep working with your dr. and let the tool be all that it can be. -
On the subject of crushing pills, just be sure to never break or crush a time released pill. One that gives you an intitial dose and then another dose hours later- such as a 12 hour sudefed. You will get both doses at once.

Congrats on your first fill. See, nothing to worry about. I was nervous before my first one too.

I like Angela's post- giving her hubby 3 options. I think it's important to elicit the support of the people around you. You wouldn't drink infront of a newly recovering alchoholic and expect them to deal with it. Well, at least I wouldn't. Dealing with temptation can come a little down the road, and hopefully not be in your own house.
