  1. Ekels, Hang in there. It's tough without restriction. That's great you are working out, keep it up for sure. I don't think you have to worry about your doc. giving you a fill. I would concentrate on eating the righ foods, hi protien, low carb, low fat, high protien. You might want to start journaling what your eating. 'there are lots of good sites online, or you can do it paper and pencil. As far as stretchig your pouch, I doubt you did that. I read it would take months of overeating to do that. Best wishes!
  2. I asked my surgeon about it and he said suddenly you can't keep anything down. If you've just had a fill, the throwing up is probably from being too tight, not a slip.
  3. I am having a tummy tuck and boob job on Wednesday. I haven't been told to have an unfill. I am a little worried about having trouble with the band during recovery. I plan to stick to shakes for the first few days.

    Drinking Alcohol

I think the issue is the "empty calories". Also a few drinks can lower your inhibitions and you may eat something you normally wouldn't. Personally, I stay away from it.
  5. I would stay on liquids for sure. Watering down protein shakes has helped me when I have been too tight. Hope you feel better soon!
  6. Try a hot liquid, it loosens the band a bit. I was having some trouble keeping my meds down first thing in the morning. Now I wait until I have had a cup of coffee to take the pills. It has helped a lot. Also, I agree that you may have swelling that may take a few days to go down.

    found out band slipped

Sorry to hear about your slip. You seem to have a good attitude. Do your best to keep making good food choices and excersising. You can do it even despite a set back. I would focus on eating the right foods, even if your portions are larger than they will be with restriction. Good luck!

    Anyone starting over?

Sorry you are having a tough time. Seems like you need to go back to basics. Eat high protien, low carb, low fat. Are you working out? If not I would start for sure. BTW I am 4'11'' as well. I am maintaining around 110 and very pleased with how I feel and look. You can do this! Maybe setting mini goals along the way would help. Buy yourself something for every 10 pound loss or go for a spa treatment. I hope you get back on track, and get to a healthier you.

    Yeah 50lbs down!!

You are doing just great! Congrats on reaching your goal for Thanksgiving. Keep up the good work!
  10. I was on mushies last year, this will be my first Thanksgiving on solid food. I plan to treat myself to some mashed potatoes and stuffing. No desserts. I'll see how my weight does (I am maintaining) as far as left overs. I should probably stick to turkey, sweet potatoe and veggies. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

    Post Op day 2

What you are experiencing is perfectly normal. Do your best to get fluids in, once swelling subsides that will be easier. You should feel lots better in 2-3 days. Congrats on your surgery!
  12. Wow. Hope it's benign, good luck to you.

    Is This Normal?

I burp alot, especailly when I am on the tight side. I also feel much relief after burping.
  14. I wholeheartedly agree with advice to excersise. It works wonders for weight loss. When my weight stalled, I increased the intensity or duration of my workout and the scale started moving again. I eat low fat and low carb, high protien. I lost 107 pounds in about 10 months and am now maintaining. As far as how the band has worked for me, I am a bit hungrier than I'd like to be. But I have been overfilled with just a little more than I have now. I eat 6 times a day, 3 meals and 3 snacks. Best of luck!
  15. Since you are not hungry and able to limit your calories without much probem, sounds to me like you do indeed have restricition. Don't fix what's not broken. Best wishes.

    Fluctuating Weight?

I would stop getting on the scale everyday. Seems like the natural flucuations are discouraging you. When I was loosing, I weighed in once a week. Now that I am maintaining I weigh in everyday, and if I hit 112 (I am only 4'11") I take corrective action (cut out a snack, lower carbs). Good luck!

    Had surgery on the 17th..

What you are feeling is perfectly normal. You should feel much better in a few days. Follow your doctors orders and you should be just fine. Congrats on your surgery!
  18. I have had to have several unfills. I hesitated every time. I was miserable for longer than necessary. I was so afraid if I had some taken out I would be starving, and the doc. is an hour away. Glad you went in and are feeling better.

    Any Advice??

You answered your own question- excersise! It's ok to start out slow and gradually increase the time and/or intensity of your workouts. It's just too important not to do it. It really was a key in my weight loss of 107 pounds in 10 months. You can do it!
  20. Sounds like you are doing great!
  21. I think it depends. There is always the possiblility the fill will be too much and you won't be able to keep food down. If I were you I would go for it, rather than wait a whole month. Hope it goes well and happy Thanksgiving!

    my time has finally arrived

Congrats! I have plastic surgey scheduled for Dec. 1. I am so excited yet so nervous. I can't wait until the recovery is over. Good luck!

    Is my band too tight?

You probably have some delayed swelling from surgery. Try to stay hydraded. As long as you are keeping the fluids down, you are probably ok until your appointment. Feel better soon.
  24. You are doing very well. You are right on target with weight loss. Remeber it's a marathon, not a race. Keep up the excersise, it is such an important component of weight loss. Best wishes.
  25. I used Dr. Andrew Larson in Palm Beach County- about an hour from Boca I think, maybe less. I drive an hour from Port St. Lucie to see him. I have had a fantastic experience, the entire staff is great. He has come in on days when he doesn't normally see patients when I have needed an unfill. There phone number is 561-649-0243. Good luck!
