That is a great NSV! I had so many sizes in my closet I bought hardly anything as I was loosing. About 6 bags of clothes have gone to my sister. It was so exciting to fit into clothes I hadn't fit into for years. Keep up the good work! Go shopping!

Down to my next 10 lbs!!!
vlp1968 replied to Beachbunny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are doing everything right! Keep up the good work. I hit my goal weight back in Sept.- was banded nov. 09, so it took about 10 months to loose 107 pounds. -
Can you "overstretch with fluid?"
vlp1968 replied to whitemountainmagic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe liquids go right down to you big stomach, so don't worry. I disagree with the post that said to drink fresh juice. Juice has lots of calories and natural sugar. Your much better off eating a piece of fruit- you are getting fiber that way. Best wishes! -
Question about food
vlp1968 replied to TurboDriver's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ate very little carbs while loosing- no rice, breat, pasta or starchy veggies. Now that I am maintaining I eat the good carbs- whole wheat bread and pasta, brown rice. I have eaten "bad" carbs as well- but try to balance it out with good days. My band is very loose- I had a large unfill after having lots of trouble keeping food down. I don't think I could eat the amount I have, or the bread et... if I was tighter. -
scared my band will slip
vlp1968 replied to jennyflower's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon said you know when the band has slipped because you suddenly can't keep anything down- even water. He told me this happens in only 3% of cases. Try not to worry. I think throwing up is the most common cause of a slip. If you get the flu or something and are vomiting call the doc. and they can prescribe something to stop the vomiting. -
How much should I be eating 2 week post op and what did you eat?
vlp1968 replied to kelhough's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Different docs and nutrituitionists say different things. At least that's what I gather from reading posts here. Mine said a balanced diet. 2 servings of calcium and at least 60 grams of protien. I avoided almost all carbs while loosing- just ate those found in non-starchy veggies (no corn, peas, potatoes). I also ate very low fat. A typical meal was about 4 oz. lean meat (lean portloin, chicken or fish) and about 1/2c of veggies. For fruit I ate berries, they are low in carbs. I drank a protien shake for breakfast. For snacks I ate lowfat cheese sticks, nuts (1/4 c) beef jerky. Hope this helps! -
that's great! Keep up the good work!

ANYONE HAVE LOOSE SKIN PROBLEM AFTER LAP BAND SURGERY ...
vlp1968 replied to a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had significant loose skin after loosing 107 pounds. I had a tummy tuck and boob job last month. Very happy with the results. If your young, I think your skin might be ok. IMHO it has to do with age, weight flucuations, pregnancy et.. I believe if your skin looses elacticity there is not much you can do about it. Probably not what you want to hear, just my opinion. -
That is awsome! So many times people use the weather as an excuse to skip a workout. You should be very proud of yourself!
-
You don't say what you are currently doing. If your not doing theses things I would start- the scale will move I promise! Work out at least 30 min. 4-5 daysa week-break a sweat eat low carb- no sweets, bread, starchy veggies eat low fat- lean meat, nothing fried, lowfat cheese, no butter- just use a little lowfat butter Hope this helps!

Will I be able to sallow medication
vlp1968 replied to Nancy Ann's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took my meds without any problem- but I think everyone is different. It probably depends on how much swelling you have postop. Good luck! -
If anyone ever says to me, I took the "easy way, I'll just...
vlp1968 replied to hautemama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry you had kind of a rough time- glad to hear you are doing much better. You are right, the weigh tloss is sure to slow down, try not to be dissapointed when that happens. Congrats on your surgery! -
It's my one month bandiversary!
vlp1968 replied to amber2604's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad to hear things are going so well! Keep up the good work, 20 pounds in a month is just awsome. However, be aware that at some point it will probably slow down. Best wishes! -
Your dizziness is probably because your deydrated. I agree, if you have fluid in your band I would have it taken out. If you don't have any fluid in your band you are probably experiencing swelling from the surgery. Try your best to get water in and hopefully things will improve over the next few days. I would call your doc. and let them know what's going on. Hope you feel better soon!

Good restriction - Need diet advice!!!
vlp1968 replied to drivera's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like you may be a tad too tight. If your eating properly (small bites, lots of chewing) and it's still not staying down, I would suggest a slight unfill. I have hesitated when I was too tight for fear of being hungry. Each time I finally gave it and I still had some restriction. Good luck! -
MASSIVE Sweets Cravings
vlp1968 replied to KimK813's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lot's of great tips! I would also add, don't keep the stuff in your house. If people you live with wants them, have a serious talk to elicit their support. Maybe they can eat sweets outside the house, buy something they like but you don't or at least keep them in a cabinent that you don't go into. Good luck! -
My nutritionist also said caffine was ok- no soda (carbonation) but coffee was ok. It is a diuretic and also stimulates appetite so just be aware of that.

Sorry to hear your having a hard time. It's too bad you don't seem to have restriction. Keep working with your doc. on that one. In the mean time you can still get on track with your eating. It may help to add some snacks in. Try to keep from being too hungry and making healthy choices will be easier. Also, if you haven't already, I would start excersising. Start off slow and gradually increase the duration/frequency. Just walking would be great. I hope this helps. You can do it!

For a desk job a week is plenty of time to be off. You may even be able to go back sooner is you'd like. I was myself after about 3 days. Pain was minimal. Good luck!

needing ideas on how to losse my stomach
vlp1968 replied to dhawkins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am top heavy as well. It got a lot better as I lost weight. I had a lot of extra skin on my stomach- had a tummy tuck and boob job. I am very pleased with the results. Imho there is no way to deal with extra skin besides surgery. Ones the elacticity is gone there is nothing left to do. Good luck! -
I think your weight loss is right on track. I agree with the post about varying your calories. That is suppossed to trick your body into burning more fat. Keep up the workouts and it is sure to pay off. Good luck!
-
Good for you that your started working out! It is such an imprtant piece of the puzzle. Keep it up!

what to eat and how soon can you eat after you throw up
vlp1968 replied to jmunks2000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had quite a few times I have been too tight over the course of my journey. I would usually have a shake about 2 hours after the episode and then try a meal a few hours after that. If your consistanly throwing up I would get a slight unfill. I hesitated to do that and suffered needlessly. I was afraid an unfill would make me very hungry- they didn't. -
Tummy tucks and boob jobs
vlp1968 replied to Steph951's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a tummy tuck and boob job Dec. 1. I am thrilled with the results. However, I did have a complication. I retained a lot of fluid (gained 10 pounds!). The surgeon had to go back in and deal with it. However, I would do it again in a heart beat. Next is a face lift- after that arms. My thighs are a little "wrinkly" but that doesn't bother me too much. I do weights and hope I can fill out my legs a little and they will look better. Be sure to do your reseach and get a good doctor- you want it to be safe and get good results. Best wishes.
