  1. 7 pounds in 2 weeks is more than good, it's fantastic! Be careful of being discouraged, you don't want to put yourself in a mind set where you will get frustrated and kind of give up. You are doing great. Be aware that the rate of weightloss will slow down. Bandsters are expected to loose 1-2 pounds a week. If your not excersising, start. It works wonders for weight loss. Good luck!

    question

Sliders are foods that go right through the pouch your band makes, into your big stomach. Things like mashed potatoes and icecream. Things that kind of melt in your mouth like chocolate and cake are sliders too. They will not fill you up so something to be carefull of. Also, as you can see by my examples, they are not healthy, high protein foods.
  3. That's great. Clothes fitting looser, and clothes that used to be too small fitting, are such great feelings. Keep up the good work!

    Plastic surgery

I had a tummy tuck and boob job Dec. 1. My experience was the boobs didn't hurt at all. For me, tummy tuck wasn't bad either. I did have a complication, I retained a lot of fluid. He had to open me back up to clean it out. Everyone has different pain tolerances and reacts to anesthesia differently. My sister was pretty out of it for 2-3 days after her surgery, I was moving around almost immediately. Hope this helps and good luck with your surgery. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

    First Goal Achieved!!!

Excellent! You are doing great and have an awsome attitude. Keep up the good work!
  6. I agree with the above post in terms of waiting it out, but I wouldn't wait a whole week. You may have swelling from the fill that will subside. However, this shouldn't take more that 3-4 days IMHO. I was too tight after fills, hesitated to go in for a small unfill, and suffered needlessly. I had restriction after the unfills. While your waiting it out, I found watered down protien shakes helped. I hope you feel better soon.

    a silly little NSV

Fitting into smaller clothes- even panties is such a great feeling. Keep up the good work!
  8. I only lost 3 pounds the first week- I was really surprised but didn't let it discourage me. I believe they put saline in the IV that makes you retain water. Unfortuanly you may have to accept the fact you are a bit of a slow looser. That being said, changing up your routines may help. Eat different foods and keep your calorie count variable. I mean eat 1000 cals one day, 1400 the next, 1200 the next. This may trick your body into burning more fat- keeps it guessing. Changing up your workouts (once you get the ok from your doc. to start working out) may help as well. Walk one day, swim another et... Good luck!
  9. I was concerned about your comment about throwing up all the time as well. This is not normal or healthy. My guess is you are probably too tight. As far as fluid removed before surgery- I had a tummy tuck and boob job and I didn't have the fluid removed. Was never told I needed too- and I was fine. Tell your doctor about the throwing up! Good luck.

    Trouble Burning Fat

Couldn't agree more with the above post- excersise is key. The benefits are just too good to pass up. If your not already, start doing cardio. Some strength training would be good too. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn all day long. Start off slow and gradually increase your duration/intensity. It's so tough to get started but it becomes second nature. You can do it!

    Hooray! NSV

Great! It feels so good to fit into smaller clothes. Keep up the good work!
  12. I would call for sure. Tell them you need to be seen on an emergency basis. I hope it didn't slip but you should have it checked out for sure.
  13. Sorry your sick. I don't know what I would do if I was you. If you are pretty hungry Iguess I would go in for a fill even though your under the weather. Good luck and feel better.
  14. I suggest you get some protien as well as salad. Maybe a meatball or a piece of sausage? Have fun.

    First Fill

it is a long time to wait- I got my first fill 6 weeks out. That's too bad the nurse left. You might want to call and see if you can get squeezed in any sooner. It's worth a try. Beware that the first fill may not do much- it took me 3 fills to feel restriction.
  16. Don't beat yourself up! One thing I suggest is adding some planned snacks during the day. Try to keep yourself from getting too hungry, thats when we eat too much/eat too fast. Also, journal what your eating if your not already. Excersise when your doc. gives you the ok. It was vital to my weightloss and now maintance. Good luck!
  17. Yes, I would check with your insurance company- seems a long time to wait. If you do have to wait I would suggest you focus on eating the right foods (high protien, low carb, low fat). Your portions may be larger than they will be once you have restriction but hopefully you can keep hunger at bay and at least not gain any weight. Good luck!
  18. Glad you were able to eat some egg. You may have had swelling from the fill that is now subsiding. Keep up the good work. You don't mention if your excersising. If not, I would highly reccomend you start. That would really help those last 20 pounds come off. Best wishes!
  19. Since you are not hungry, it doesn't seem like you need a fill. Make sure you are getting in enough protien- at least 60 grams, and also 64oz of water. Best wishes!
  20. That's great you are going to a support group. I go just about every month and find it helpfull. I just wanted to stress the importance of excersise. It will really help you loose the 20 pounds you've gained. The benefits are just too great to pass up. I agree it's great you are doing something now and not 50 or 100 pounds from now. You've done it before, you can do it again. Best wishes!
  21. I am so proud of you. You have taken a huge step towards weight loss and more importantly better health. It is so tough to start, but I promise it gets better. I started working out about 4 months post op. I started out with a moderate walk and now do a combination of walking and jogging. After a warm up I walk for 1 minute jog for 4 et... for 35 minutes. I want to work on increasing the time. Some days I have to really push myself to go but most days I don't mind it. I don't love it, but I don't mind it. The benefits are just too numerous to pass up. Keep up the good work!
  22. Be honest with your doctor. If he knows how much you can eat, that just might make him decide to do a fill. I have heard on this board about doctors that don't do a fill because the patient is loosing weight. I agree, this makes no sense. The band doesn't do it's job unless it's properly filled. My doc. always based the fill on how much I could eat and how hungry I was. Again be honest with your doc. that's the only way he can best help you. I kept some vomiting from my doctor and wouldn't you know I ended up overfilled. If your doc. still won't give you a fill I would consider finding another doc.

    Which diet is better?

I totally agree it's a matter of finding a healthy food plan that works for you. If you eat less calories than you burn, you will loose weight. I did a low fat and low carb diet when I was loosing. I ate lots of lean protien, non-starchy veggies, berries (low in carbs for fruit) low fat cheese sticks, some nuts. I lost 107 pounds in about 10 months. Just my experience, hope it helps.
  24. I brought a nightgown to go home in. I figured a wait band would be uncomfortable. Loose pants like sweats would probably work as well. Congrats on your impending surgery.

    Crap...too tight?

You are right you may have some swelling. However, I wouldn't wait more that 2-3 days to get an unfill. There is no reason to be miserable for a whole week. I hesitated to get unfills and suffered longer than neccessary. I found after the unfills I was in a good place, restriction but everythig stayed down. You may want to see if your doc. and see you at the end of this week if things aren't better. Hope you feel better soon, best wishes.
