Trouble Eating After Fill
vlp1968 replied to MindyLou82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are not even able to keep down fluids go see your doc. right away. If fluids are staying down you might wait another day or 2. Your right it could be swelling. Don't wait too long, or your just suffering needlessly. I have been there, done that. When I finally did go in for an unfill I had decent restriction for a little while. Hope you feel better soon. -
little lost on the jargon lol
vlp1968 replied to witcywoman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sliming is when you throw up mucus type stuff. Pb stands for productive burp. It's when a bit of food that was stuck comes up. NSV stands for non-scale victory. -
I find brushing my teeth after dinner helps end my eating for the day. There is something about that mint taste that curbs my desire to eat more. Try it, it may help. Good luck!

What was the most important thing you did (or did not do)?
vlp1968 replied to smoochy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Starting to workout was the best thing I did. It took me about 4 months post-op to hit the gym. I got a personal trainer for weight lifting, see her 4 times a week. I do cardio about 5 times a week. I went from a slow walk for 20 minutes to a brisk walk on an incline for 45 or a jog for 30. I lost 107 pounds in 10 months. Hope this helps and best wishes. -
For those of you who have gotten discouraged
vlp1968 replied to mirramjr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am glad your band is finally working. 10 pounds in 2 weeks is amazing. Keep up the good work! -
You are doing awsome! Always nice to read a story of great success.

Getting my band tomorrow!!
vlp1968 replied to ChelseaM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
2 little things- one is bring chapstick. You won't be able to drink anything until they do an xray and make sure everything is as it should be, your lips will get dry. The other is to bring a pillow to put inbetween you and the seatbelt on the ride home. Good luck, you'll do great. -
Fantastic! You are doing great!

Appt tomorrow, possible fill?
vlp1968 replied to nurse535's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with the others, sounds like you are doing just great. However, I would keep the appointment and talk with whoever does your fills (PA, surgeon, NP). Keep up the good work! -
Fitting into smaller clothes is just the best feeling! I think it's as good as, if not better than, seeing the scale move. Congrats and keep up the good work. You are off to a great start.

I am maintaining a 107 pound weight loss (well give or take a few pounds lol). After maintaining for a few months, I decided to get a large unfill. I wanted to be able to eat breakfast and eat some bread, rice, pasta. So far so good, I have stayed within a few pound range since Sept. Hope this helps.

a little frustrated
vlp1968 replied to pinkruffles's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's great you started excersising. It's a huge piece of the puzzle. How about some therapy. It helped me deal with emotions and stress in a healthier way. You can do this! -
Post-op Challenges

You did great! I too used to nap, almost everyday. Now it's just once in a while. Keep up the good work! -
Am mI the ONLY one who DOESN'T weigh everyday/week?
vlp1968 replied to 14isabella's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was loosing, I weighed in once a week and recorded it. Like others have said, I felt like the natural flucuations would drive me crazy. Now that I am in maintainance mode, I have become a scale ***** lol. I get on it every day. I just can't help it. I admit sometimes I get really frustrated with what the scale is saying, but overall I just use it as a gauge. -
Sugar free gum and hard candies??
vlp1968 replied to stevoinfranklin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think a few- say 2 or 3- sugar free candies a day is fine. More than that and those 30 calories start to add up. Also, the sugar alchohols can give you stomach trouble if you have too much. I was told not to chew gum, it would be a huge problem with the band if you were to swallow it, it would have to be removed surgically. Congrats on your recent surgery! Best wishes. -
What was your post op experience?
vlp1968 replied to BaileyRose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My experience with the surgery was really good. I am lucky enough to react really well to anastesia and have a pretty high pain tolerance. I took the percecet I was given for a couple days, then I was fine. It really was a piece of cake for me, but everyone's experience is different. I have 2 best things, one is getting off my meds for high blood pressure, high cholesteral and diebetes. The other was fitting into smaller clothes, I had a great time shopping when I lost all the weight and needed a brand new wardrobe. Good luck, you'll do great! -
That's great you are back on track. Keep up the good work!

How many calories
vlp1968 replied to CasHorsinRound's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry you are having trouble, I hope your band didn't slip. I am wondering was there protien in the salad you had- such as eggs or chicken. Your right oatmeal doesn't have much protien. It also has lots of carbs, healthy carbs, but still carbs. You may be better off with eggs for breakfast. I scramble them using one yolk and 3 egg whites. Are you excersising? If not, I highly reccomend you start. It works wonders for weight loss, not to mention it's many other benefits like cardiovascular health. Start out slow and gradually increase your duration/intensity. Best wishes! -
NSV...got to discontinue a BP med
vlp1968 replied to jen120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is great! I remember how excited I was to get off my cholesteral, BP and diebeties meds. It was an awsome dr. appt. Keep up the good work! -
If its not on my schedule....
vlp1968 replied to kaydin81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are doing awsome. Sounds like you found what works for you. I know a lot of doc's say no snacks, but I have always snacked. Planned, healthy snacks. I don't write it down, or plan for a whole week, but each morning I have in my head what I am going to eat when for that day. It's working for me. Keep up the good work! -
Loose skins question for those under 30 yrs olda
vlp1968 replied to Origflyboy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would wait until after you have children to get plastic surgery. Your body will change with pregnancy. -
How do I know if I have a slip?
vlp1968 replied to Missfroggy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Doesn't sound like a slip. My surgeon told me if you have a slip you suddenly can't keep anything down, not even water. Not sure what is going on with you- I would call your surgeon and describe your symptoms. Hope you feel better soon. -
Onederland is a huge milestone, I don't blame you for being anxious to get there. Hang in there, it will happen. Keep doing all the right things and it will happen, hope it's soon.

I guess i need a little pick me up...
vlp1968 replied to emilyxx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry you are having a rough time. It does sound like your a little tight if healthy things (I think you mean things such as lean protien and veggie) are not staying down. I have been to tight and hesitated to get an unfill. However when I did I felt much better and still had some restriction. I would go in and talk with your surgeon for sure. You won't be able to get back on track if you aren't able to eat the foods you should. Hope you feel better soon. -
