    What is going on here!!!

Your calorie intake sounds good- My thought is you might want to beef up the excersise. Try walking faster, walking uphill, walking for longer amount of time. You should be doing it for at least 30 minutes and working up a sweat. If your not sweating, you need to kick it up a notch. You can do this slowly. I started out walking slowly on the treadmill for 20 min. Now I jog for 30 or walk on an incline briskly for 45. I gradually increased the intensity/duration of my workouts.

    Irritated

I think it's perfectly reasonable to ask that certain foods stay out of the house. They can eat them at resturaunts or whatever. You wouldn't put a bottle of wine on the table infront of a struggling alchoholic. To me it's the same thing. I would have a talk with your family. Make a list of foods you'd really like kept out of the house. Together you can come up with things they like to eat that aren't too difficult for you to pass up. Good luck and keep up the great work!

    no milk products

Dairy has some protien, but it's not all that significant. I would worry about how your getting in 2 servings of calcium. Protien should come from lean sources of meat such as fish, chicken, pork loin. Aim for at least 60 gms a day.
  5. You are so right! I found it very difficult to start, took me about 4 months postop to hit the gym. Now it's a matter of routine. I go at least 5 days a week. It works wonders in the battle of weight loss. There are just too many benefits not to do it.

    Frustrated

Are you watching your fat and carbs? I swear by a high protien/low fat/low carb diet. I lost 107 pounds in about 10 months. That's great your excersising! Can you bump up the intensity and/or duration? Are you breaking a sweat? Are you doing it for at least 30 min 3X week? Hope these suggestions help- best wishes.

    On the brink

Keep it up and you'll get there! Another 35 by Christmas is doable.

    The big 50!

That's awsome! Keep up the good work.
  9. I ate a lot of cottage cheese and applesauce. Mashed potatoes would be ok for now too (although not a good idea once your on solid food and weight loss mode). Refried beans are also an option. Good luck and congrats on your surgery.
  10. Protein bars may be a good option, along with shakes already mentioned. That's what I was planning if it hit Florida. We are very luck this time around. Can't wait for hurricane season to end!
  11. Be careful. Last I heard it will be heading north as a cat.2- even with all the land it's going over it is anticipated to stay strong. Be prepared and stay safe!
  12. That is so awsome your excersising! It is a huge piece of the puzzle. Remember to keep increasing your intensity/duration a little at a time. Keep up the good work!
  13. Benadryl cream may help the itching. As others have said, sounds normal, nothing to worry about.
  14. Yes, the fluids for sure. I think they put saline in the iv, going to make you retain fluids. I wouldn't get on the scale everyday if I were you. When I was loosing I weighed in once a week and recorded it. I felt like the natural flucuations would drive me crazy.

    Did my band slip?

I second the notion to see your doc. right away. I know traveling is a pain but your health is worth it. I don't know what it is, but you need to find out.

    Fill or NO Fill??

Are you staying full 3-5 hours after eating? If so, doesn't sound like you need a fill. Your right, you need to slow down. It's a tough one. I still struggle with it about 18 months post op. Congrats on your weight loss and best wishes.

    Post Op diet

I was on protien shakes from the get go, for one week. I was then on mushies for a week, then solid food. I had no problems. I was in the hospital overnight, left the next afternoon. They do an exray and make sure everything is where it should be. I was then given water, broth and some jello to make sure things stayed down. I was given percecet, disolved it into little medicine cups. It worked great. I only need it for 2 days or so. I took MOM and it helped with constipation.
  18. Congrats! I think fitting into smaller clothes is just as good as, if not better than, seeing the scale move. Keep up the good work!
  19. Sounds like a great doctor visit! Keep up the good work.
  20. I too have found restriction ellusive. I went from feeling very hungry to getting sick after a small fill. I have had a few weeks here and there that I was in a good place. Honestly, I wouldn't do it again. That being said, I did loose all my excess weight, but the band wasn't the tool I hoped it would be. I wish I had given it one more shot on my own. I hadn't tried to loose weight in years when I got banded in Nov. 09. I was self pay and the money I spent on surgery was a huge motivator. All this is just my experience. I hope you get restriction with another fill or 2. I think it's possible for sure. That's great your getting back on track in the meantime. Keep it up! Best wishes.
  21. I second doing protien shakes as a way to kick start things. What I have been doing to loose a few pounds I gained, I'm pretty much in maintance mode, is 3 shakes, one meal of lean protien and veggie and one snack of 1/4c nuts and a lf cheese stick. I am finding I can stick to it longer than when I would do just 4 shakes.

    Tummy tuck anyone

I Have had tt, breast job and also a face lft. I am very happy with the results. As far as wether you will have extra skin depends on things like, age, wether you have been pregnant, large weight losses and gains and just the elacisity of your skin. That would be nice if you don't need one, I think your nurse kind of jumped the gun in telling you you'll need one- just my humble opinion.
  23. I am a little confused. You say you have restriction but also say you can eat large amounts at one sitting. Sounds like maybe you need a fill. Also, just a plug for working out. Start if your not already doing it. If you are, try and increase the duration/intensity of your workouts. Best wishes.
  24. You seem to have a really good attitude. Keep up the walking/jogging for sure. Until you get restriction again I would focus on eating the right foods (lowcarb, lowfat, high protien). Your portions may be larger than they will be once you've had a few fills but you will hopefully not gain. Best wishes, and congrats on getting to onederland, it's a huge milestone.
  25. I agree that it's from the shock to your body of loosing weight quickly. I went to the dermatologist when my hair was falling out and that's what he told me. He assured me I wouldn't go ball. I probably had hair loss from about 5 months out until I was 10 months post-op, but I am not sure. I was lucky to have started with a thick head of hair. Try to hang in there, it should stop in a few months.
