Another september bandster here....<grin>

Oh, I am so with you!! I have an appointment for my first fill 6 October, which is exactly 6 weeks to the day of my surgery - you've heard of bandster hell? Well, I am firmly in it - I can eat small amounts of anything I want, and am hungry almost all the time...and I haven't lost anything either - which I know the first 6 weeks are not for that, but I am impatient, too - all the pain is gone, so why am I not losing!!?? Patience is NOT something I have a lot of...lol

I left for Mexico on Thursday (took that day off) had surgery friday (was off already); recovered saturday (was off already) flew home sunday (took day off); Took Monday off and went back for a half day on Tuesday... I dragged around and felt nauseaus but they cut me a lot of slack...I have a desk job so it wasn't like I was out doing a lot, but there were a couple of days in there where all I wanted to do was sleep - the Sunday a week after the surgery was the worst one - I don't know why but I felt like crap and took that day off, too...

Needing Some Advice------i Have To Lie About My Surgery Is That Terrible?
TruBlueSue replied to apinksoprano's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I haven't told anyone except my husband and my best girlfriend who lives out of state. I took time off from work - I had only been an employee about 6 weeks; had no sick time yet...I told them I was having my gallbladder removed, and they were really cool about giving me a couple of days leeway...god forbid I ever have to have it removed for real!! <grin> My mom and sister would have been horrified; do it the normal way, etc., and I just didn't need or want their 'constructive' toxic imput. -
I went to Dr. de la Garza, too...and I didn't have a pre-op diet or anything to follow...just showed up, did my pre-op bloodwork, etc., had a little chicken that night before surgery, and away I went the next morning...I went alone, too, and honestly, the only bad part of going alone for me was talking to my hubby and toddler on the phone the day after surgery - I felt yucky and didn't like being there by myself, but once I got up and about (saturday about noon) I was a lot better... And flying home wasn't that bad - I was sore, but not unbearable... Good Luck! Look forward to hearing about your experience when you get back!

Hi - weight loss can do that for a person. I got pregnant with my daughter after losing about 40 pounds on atkins...my ob told me that the reason I conceived was specifically that the weight loss helped to normalise things... Congratulations!! And - once you've had the baby, you still have the band! no postpartum weight issues for you!!

Hi Larry! Congrats on your new 'banded' status. You know, it took me about ten days before I really felt halfway decent - and now, exactly 4 weeks out, I have no pain, no issues...except now I think I need to get a fill! lol...its hard to hear that this too will past fast, but it really does... I took vicodan the first couple of days after surgery, and laid around a lot - but once I got moving and realised the gas pain subsided with walking, I tried to do a little bit every hour or so... :-)

OMG, you are telling MY story, too. If it wasn't for my meds and a supportive hubby, I'd never do anything. My house was a wreck, my laundry is (still) not put away...at least its folded...lol...I hired someone to come in and clean my house once a week so I could let go of tha tresponsibility...I work 8.5 hours a day 5 days a week and just didn't want to be responsible for one more thing when I got home - that has helped a lot...my dh and my daughter (almost 3) don't get it but as long as Ican spend quality time with them and cook a dinner once in a while they are happy... -
<HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1> <!-- / icon and title --><!-- message --> Hi again to all Bandsters!! Well, I am officially in bandster hell. I've started doing the 'almost' real food part of the post surgery diet...and am finding that I can pretty much eat what I want, albeit it smaller and more well-chewed bits than before band. I need a fill!! (I have my first fill appointment on 6 October.) Here's a bonus tidbit I've learned - I now KNOW when I'm hungry!!! I feel like I've got a cramp in my stomach/diaphram area that gets more intense the longer I've gone without having a little something. Isn't that amazing? To be 38 years old and JUST NOW discovering what hunger feels like??? <GRIN> Sue 9/1/06 Dr. de la Garza, Monterrey 214/194/150

Dr. de la Garza or Dr. Rumbaut????
TruBlueSue replied to roxy123's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I had my band done by Dr. de la Garza on 9/1, and am returning for my first fill 10/6. I have nothing at all bad to say about him. I did think his 'patient coordinator' was a bit young and inexperienced, but other than that, the staff and the doctors all treated me very well. -

I was banded by Dr de la Garza on 9/1 - I did everything online - from questions to booking the surgery date that worked with my schedule, etc...it was a totally positive experience!!
