You guys were right. Iwent to my doctor this afternoon, and she took .4cc's out...and told me to go eat 'real' food and if it wasn't staying then to come right back~! She's great - honestly, I could go in there just to talk - and I tild her I'd see her in a couple of weeks. Post script - went and ate a child's portion of meat and veg and it all stayed!!!

MOM - I'm 185 this morning - another two pounds down...total loss for xmas challenge -5!

As for the "c-word", etc.,...My british mother and grandmother called it "poudre" something like it needs to be powdered...my almost three year old daughter calls it her poudie... when I was in the army the other women and I called it our "smack"...along the lines of something you'd be addicted to if you ever got any...lol...

Wow - okay you guys have convinced me - I am going for an unfill. Honestly, I thought I was dealing with more of the first bite synddrome e.g., too big of an initial bite; as well as the eating too fast thing...probably a little bit of both of those combined with too much fill. I'l llet you know what the doc says. Thanks again.

Hi All, Went for my first fill today - Dr. Mary Hewitt in Baytown is a family doc who is banded and was trained by Dr. SPivak to do fills...She was totally awesome! So much so that I am going to make her my PCP - one stop shopping!! Whoooweee! Totally awesome and tells it from experience. Sue 1st fill 1.8cc in 4.0 cc band:madgrin:
-
She has flouro available but doesn't use it routinely as far as I know unless there's an indication...
-
As TOM said, its nice to have choices....money talks - if people who are mistreated go somewhere else, they'll eventually take notice.

Omigod, let's all just take a deep breath, shall we? It's getting to the point where folks are going to take their toys and go play in their own yards...reminds me of my three year old...LOL! besides, I LIKE reading everyone's differing points of view - I may not always agree (esp. the Iraq sttuff; I'm a vet) but I enjoy the mental stimulation... -
27 pounds...

I got my fill at Dr. Mary Hewitt's office, Baytown, TX.

You guys are the best! I am going to call my doc tomorrow...and just think - she wanted to put 2cc's in my band!!

What is my Malfunction! I'm not losing!

I take effexor xr 150 mg a day and haven't had a ton of weight loss, but not stalled either...? -
Isn't there a doc in ann arbor that will do fills?
-
raynie it really depends on your doc - mine said anything that would be liquid at room temp...which included popsicles, jello, etc...as for broth - what do you like? I bought swanson's aseptic liters of chicken broth - they helped, plus they can be stored in the fridge after you open them...not like the can...
-
My experience has been pretty positive so far...I had my first fill 10/6, and I can't eat much, but I am losing, so am liking that...
-
Yup - I like her a lot - she's forthright and totally down to earth - doesn't beat around the bush and talks to you like you have a brain and are NOT a collection of ailments...her having the band is obviously a major plus, but I like that she's a normal human being and not some 'god-like' doctor on a power trip.
-
Hey - I'm in La Porte, too!!!
-
Mine hurt, but only because I got poked 2-3 times...the fill itself was odd feeling - you could feel the saline going in and making the band swell...!!
-
This sounds great. Can you tell me how much she charges? Does she use the flouroscope? Dr. Hewitt charges $200 if you weren't banded by Dr. Spivak and $100 if you did...For my first fill she didn't use flouro, but I know its available... She's banded, has lost 163 lbs, and knows a TON about the ins and outs of the band. She's very down to earth and totally easy to talk to...her office staff is great.

Hey, SFC I'm Army, too - I just told 'em I had gallbladder surgery. Talked to one of the nurse practitioners at the TMC and she gave me a profile for no running....do you have that option? (and, btw - if you had an earthquake, I'm guessing you're in HI - 25th??) SSG Suz
-
Dr, Mary Hewitt - she's in the San Jac Methodist bldg on Alexander...
-
insurance covers the office visit; she charges $100 if spivak did your surg and $200 (I think) if he didn't...I didn't pay that much attention honestly, I was just so thrilled to find her and happy that we hit it off - totally down to earth and wonderful...

I had an excellent experience with going to Dr. de la Garza in Monterrey, MX (www.litenfree.com) I went by myself, had the surgery on Friday, and flew home to Houston on Sunday. My fills are done by my GP (also banded and trained in fills by Dr. Spivak) in Baytown...Good luck whatever option you take...
