    Exercise Today

Exercise - just started back to exercise after a long lay-ff. Got a personal trainer a couple of times a week for the butt kicking; started today going extra and doing cardio...so today I rode the bike for an hour on level 6 with hills - man, it kicked my ass but it felt totally good, too! Woohooo....haven't felt this 'super' since I was in Iraq!! (2003 and before a roadside bomb screwed up my knee, etc., etc...) Telly - you are the woman! Lurking here and reading your stuff has given me the encouragement I needed when I thought that all I would ever do again athletics wise was eat...lol!!!

    Starting point 180?

I had pre-diabetes and a knee that was looking to have to be replaced...my surgeon thought those were co-morbidities enough at 209...

    military

you're disqualified if you have this surgery (and a lot of others) and then try to join...I had mine (on the qt) while IN already...

food scratches stoma - is this normal?

Jack, Jacqui - you guys just speak to me! I too get that ground glass / stuck feeling five bites too late to do anything about - its my own eating too fast / getting too hungry / big bites - I am so stubborn that I can't seem to get it through my head that when I eat like that I ALWAYS end up bringing up the last bite or two...my weight loss has stalled and eating is such a pain - I want to eat around the band, instead of learning what stays and works, and what doesn't...and I can feel everything that goes through - its painful! Duh - not enough to make me want to stop eating everything, just enough to make me want to go back to liquids...

I'm feeling discouraged, too. Mine though has more to do with eating crap around the band and having a hard time getting back on track food wise. Too, I just started going to the gym, and am not losing but not gaining. Anyone else doing this stuff? I have 1.4cc in my 4cc band, and am not scheduled for a fill...although I could be soon if I wanted one...

    losing sizes

I dounch and I still wear the same size in some brands the same thing - I've lost a bit of weight - but in one brand of jeans they fit - another brand and theyarefalling off....the weight loss has really slowed / stopped, so I am thinking of another fill, but am waiting to see if the gym is making a difference first... If you disagree with me, YOU HAVE NOT GOT A CLUE!!!!

oh man, I'd give a lot to be there, but unfortunately, I'm currently living in Houston and not in heaven, er, I mean Ann Arbor....lol Yeah its gonna add a ton of drama to an already storied, historic, awesome, totally understood by the rest of the country, game...
  16. that's right - my mom became a US citizen; the UK still recognises her as a citizen of the UK...just as one of my best friends in the whole world was born here and has dual US/ISraeli citizenship...and the reason there are some Jews who love the neo-co0ns is b/c the neocons support Israel to the nth degree - thinking that their support will somehow bring about the Christian messiah...(that's my jewish understanding of it...)

    need baby gift

I was living in Germany when I had my daughter, and what I prized were those gowns with the elastic at the bottom and the little fold over thingys to keep little fingernails from scratching faces...
  18. All I can say is that if I were in BuSh's cabinet (or anywhere else in his government) I would be a raving maniac because all that overbearing religiosity would be on my last, Jewish, nerve!!

    Tell me what you think...

You know Carlene, when I first read this I was like "oh,yeah - get them to pay for it - she's been in the system paying her own way forever!" then I thought about it. I may have this situation to look forward to, and I'm sure MY mother would not be up for it AT ALL. However, if your MIL is of sound mind, and concurs, then why not at LEAST investigate what the perameters of the law (e.g., when exactly is the look-back, etc.) state? You don't have to end up doing anything; maybe your MIL will decide she doesn't like the idea or would rather stay in your home or have hospice (G-d forbid, when and if that time comes)...guess what I've spent a lot of space on is ask MIL what she thinks, and then with that in mind, proceed cautiously with a plan you all can agree on. I know this prob doesn't help since I'm SURE that's what you'd have done anyway... <grin> What a wonderful mitzvah you guys are performing, honoring your husband's mother like you are by having her with you...you will merit the world to come, as my rabbi says!
  20. I'm in 14 now - was 18 - and would like to be in 10's...used to be a long time ago... 5'6" / 182 current ~145 goal....

    Yeah, that's right...

Roger that, Geezer Sue! Cheers to both you and Molly! <grin> A Vet,

    Governor Perry-What a liar

Wow - immature and radical all at once. I guess I'd rather vote for the candidate that was most for investing in OUR PEOPLE, as opposed to corporations making money on the backs of our dwindling middle class. In my mind, it doesn't matter WHICH party they're from - as long as what they're interested in is our citizens and NOT Halliburton, KBR, et.al., getting rich and passing along golden parachute jobs to those who would create the means for their profits. Cynical? Maybe. But when I see KBR billing the US Government (read: Taxpayer) for tens of thousands of meals NOT served to soldiers in Iraq, it makes me start to wonder... (and, if you're interested, this allegation is discussed in depth in last week's Houston Chronicle.)

    Governor Perry-What a liar

Wish you were poll watching in my district - I live in the infamous Texas 22 District, former home to Tom Delay, to my eternal shame...
  24. I AM a fanatic when it comes to my country and what I believe is its current wrong political path. And, BTW - I DID serve in Iraq, and we HAVE done some good things for the people there. Unfortunately, the cumulative negative there outweighs the cumulative positives, IMHO as one who has been there and done that.
