I heard about the Lap Band from co workers.  I was tired of dieting and fighting the battle every day.  I tried everything for the past 11 years, i just needed more help. I called 1 800 GET SLIM, figuring that I would never get approved, i just have that kind of luck!  I went for the consultation 3 days later.  When I went in for the consultation, I left thinking that this was something i could do, but was worried because I am an emotionaleater. I didn't think it could fix what was broken in my head, but i was willing to try.   My best friend said that this would never work for me and that i was wasting my time.  My husband was just worried that it was too extreme, he had heard stories just like i did and thought that a meal of 1 green bean would fill me up. At my consultation the doctor told me i needed to lose 130 lbs...that shocked me!!! i knew i was overweight but i was healthy.  How could this be? He also told me that my insurance would cover 100%.  I never looked back.  I had my surgery 1 month later.  Post op was not as bad as i thought it would be, don't want to do surgury again...but not so bad. The doctor put me on a all liquid diet for the first month.  I lost 25 lbs the first month, 10 lbs the second month, 8lbs the third month, 5 lbs the fourth month, and 4 lbs in the last month or so.  Its trickling off now if i lose any at all,  This is how i came across this website.  Just looking for encouragement and some answers.  This experience has been one I would not trade for anything EVER!  I feel like I finally eat like a normal person. I exercise more now than I ever have, I have not felt this good in 10 years or more, my future is bright! I am learning to do things for myself for once. My husband is finally on board. Best friend... she still needs to come around, but maybe in time.  I knew when I walked into the operating room, that it was going to involve hard work and  that my only cheerleader would probably be my mom. It turns out most of my support comes from co workers who started this whole thing. !! They have been amazing.
