    Who's excited?!

I read about sippy cups in a few places on here - people recommend them as you're learning to take small sips of fluid post-op. I'm a gulper by nature (water, Diet Coke, screwdrivers, etc.), so I thought they'd be helpful!

    Four months today!

I can't "weight" to have results like that! Congratulations to you!

    Excited for a new beginning!

Well yay for both of us! We can be formerly-banded-now-sleeved sisters in a couple of weeks!!

56 lbs gone in 8 weeks.

I only hope to be as successful! Way to go!

    DC/MD/VA sleevers

I'm interested in joining up as well! I'm in pre-op mode right now as I await surgery on June 7, 2013, but after a failed LapBand experience, I certainly recognize the need for community and solidarity! I live in Woodbridge (VA) but work in Rockville (MD), so I'm used to driving...lol. :tongue2:

    Pre Pre-Op Diet.....

I'm scheduled to start my pre-op diet (anything I want to eat, just no more than 50g carb/day) on May 28th - that's 10 days prior to my surgery on June 7th. However, I chose to jump back into my good habits of wearing my FitBit and logging my food in MyFitnessPal to maintain a low calorie (1,000 calorie deficit) diet starting today. Essentially, I'll be 8 days low calorie, followed by 10 days of low carb before hittin' the anesthesia! I wanted to get my head in the right space moving into the pre-op diet - and I can do anything for 8 days!!

    I am not losing weight

Although I'm not sleeved yet, I've read on many threads here that this happens to many people. Your body has just gone through trauma/stress and is adjusting to the lower calories, limited intake, etc. Just keep doing what you've been told by your doctor and it will work out in the end! Be sure to talk to your doctor on Tuesday - I'm sure s/he'll reassure you of the same
  9. I'm pre-op and asked my NUT about them - she said to continue taking them as regularly prescribed as they shouldn't cause me problems...they're tiny lil' pills!
  10. June 7th for me, and that feels too far away! My doc isn't putting me on a liquid diet prior to the surgery, but DOES ask that I do a low-carb (no more than 50/day) diet for 10 days prior to surgery to help shrink my liver, allowing easier access to my stomach. After gaining all but 30 pounds back from the 100+ I lost with my horribly slipped LapBand (removed in March 2013), I'm STOKED and so ready for this journey!
  11. Had a severe slip with my LapBand and finally had it removed in March 2013 (installed in January 2010). While I lost over 100 pounds, I gained all but 30 of it back with frappuccinos and other high calorie drinks (it was the only thing that would go down with ease). My doctor wouldn't convert to a sleeve during the removal surgery because he wanted to give my stomach a chance to heal from the trauma of living with a slip for over a year (my former insurance company didn't cover bariatric stuff). BUT - getting the sleeve on June 7, 2013 and couldn't be more thrilled! I agree with a poster above who said that the journey, painful as it was, has better prepared me for life with the sleeve. I'm looking forward to the restriction, the rules, etc. because I know WHAT to do. And, of course, I never want to live through digestive hell again - with a good team of doctors by my side this time, and the right mindset, I know I can do this!

After having a ferocious time with the LapBand, I had it removed in March and am gearing up for my sleeve surgery on June 7th! Protein powder and vitamins arrived yesterday, so I'm ready to go!! Less than 3 weeks
