One week post-sleeve op. - hmmmmmm

I'm sorry you're having such a horrible experience!

    Approved

It's exciting when the reality sinks in...and nothing says reality like a surgery date! Way to go, and good luck!
  3. Cravings are a normal part of human beings, with or without WLS. Heck, I was craving Pringles 2 days post-op! However, I'm set on having a textbook recovery so I've followed every rule from pre-op on. Speaking of, your second question about what you ate in one sitting being okay? How long was your sitting? Beyond that, has your doctor/nutritionist allowed those foods on your plan? I've been allowed SF popsicles since the clear liquid stage, but am not ready for Jell-O. Essentially, we have to remember that our stomach is healing right now - even if we think we can handle something, or even if we DO handle something, it may not be best to progress through the food phases until your doctor/NUT gives the okay!

    Liquid Phase

Ditto! I'm allowed to have creamy soups as long as anything solid is strained from them. Strained is important - I'm not allowed to just throw it in a blender and eat after the chunks have been broken down...that would be the next (puree) stage.

    June 2013 Sleevers! "The List"

Day 4 pre-op and I'm feeling great!! Haven't taken any meds today, started my multivitamins and rockin' my liquid & protein intake. Hope everyone's recovery this month is as boring as mine!

    Calcium Suggestions?

    I use these: http://www.unjury.com/store/protein/opurity-calcium-citrate-plus-multi-vitamin.html They're chewable!
  7. Congratulations; go get 'em!
  8. I could care less what others thought of me/my decision to have the sleeve. While I was sure to answer any/all questions my loved ones had, no one has ever judged me about my opinions - dietary or otherwise! Perhaps my stubborn streak has convinced people that once I've made up my mind about something, it's done (funny how I could never apply that to weight loss without a tool!). My family knows I'm intelligent and had research any and everything regarding WLS before having it. More than anything, they wanted to see me come out okay on the other side - here I am! Just take a deep breath, then go out there and ROCK your sleeve!!

    Pre-op diet

Mine was a 10-day low carb diet. I was literally told that I could eat 10,000 calories a day if I wanted to, but was allowed no more than 50g carbs/day. The goal was to shrink my liver for easier access to my stomach during the surgery - despite my bacon, cheese and meat gorging, I lost 10 pounds in my pre-op diet! Every doctor has different requirements based on their own experience and surgical prowess. I'd stick with what your doctor gave you because that's what s/he requires of you.

    Me, two weeks out

Fantastic! I'm four days post-op now and was amazed to see myself 16 pounds lighter on the scale this morning from when I started my 10-day pre-op diet. We're gonna rock this weight loss in no time!

    Egg drop soup

It's allowed on my doctors list as long as any chunks are drained out.

    No band for me today

Sorry to hear . My doc removed my band in March and refuses to do the revision because he wants the stomach to heal. Fortunately, my insurance and doctor cleared me for the sleeve exactly 11 weeks after the removal. Sleeved now!
  13. Stole it from Unjury's website

    Bbq sauce?

Maybe it would be helpful to pack your own lunch for the family event?

    4th day out

So sorry to hear about the hernia repair! But, yes, another nap is what I need too. Yay for sleeve sisters! I'm lucky not to have to crush any of the pills I was given (anti-nausea and pain) and only had to spend one night in the hospital. Happily recovering at home now!
  16. I'm just glad that I'm finally able to handle more than a sip (and that just came in the last couple of hours). I'm very creative with my liquids, but I'm fighting like hell to get them in! I think the larger problem is that I didn't drink this much PRE-op...who has time for all this drankin?!
  17. I was just overjoyed at my ability to finish an 8oz "Mocha Proticcino" in less than an hour. Being only 3 days out, I'm sure your ability to get liquids down is just great recovery, like mine appears to be going! FYI - Mocha Proticcino is 8oz FF milk, 1 scoop chocolate Splendor unjury Protein & 1T instant coffee. Yum! Great change from a standard Protein shake, and the extra coating from the milk seemed to go down easier than water! My doc cleared me for full liquids as soon as I got home and is fine with caffeine - just no carbonation for awhile.
  18. I'm 3 days out and wish I could drink like that! If you've got no discomfort, you may just be a speedy recoverer!!

    June 2013 Sleevers! "The List"

Along with pictures, measure yourself as well! I took my before shots in capri yoga pants and a tank top (don't own a sports bra) and started an Excel spreadsheet on my computer for measurements (i.e. bust, thigh, waist, neck, etc.). I know there will be times the scale may not be moving, but the inches lost will! Definitely excited to have "after" and "during" pictures to show off someday!
  20. Yay! I can't wait for that! I'm 2 days post-op and feel much more human tonight than I have. I know recovery takes time, so I plan to do nothing more than hang out on the couch with my water and protein shakes for the rest of the week

    Last meal:(

My "last supper" was a Chipotle burrito with chips & salsa! Although I know I'll eat foods again someday, I chose to have that last indulgence . Could have been worse!

    June 2013 Sleevers! "The List"

I openly talk about my weight loss surgery to those with questions/concerns. I'm of the camp that WLS is definitely not an easy way out. It really is a tool that you have to take care of and use properly for desired results. I know of many who haven't really changed their relationship with food, thus gaining back much of the weight they lost. My reason for having WLS was to give me a forced behavior modification so that I physically can't overeat - healthy or junk food (ex. eating 6 "Skinny Cow" ice cream bars in one sitting can still make ya fat!). WLS is definitely a tool - why not use it? Life doesn't have to be difficult!

    Pre op weight loss?

FYI - my final count was 10 pounds lost on my 10 day pre-op diet.

    A thought for smokers

Yes, I still vape. My doctor is fine with that habit, so I've decided that there's no need for the nicotine withdrawal at this time.

    Excited for a new beginning!
