  1. Yeah - it was over a week before my first BM and it was PAIN - FUL (to say the least). Luckily, that's the only issue I had...have been regular since.
  2. Only regret is that I didn't do it sooner! When I stopped to be honest with myself - I wasn't going to "seriously diet one more time." Sure, I could have...and I probably would have, eventually, gained that weight back (again). C'est la vie. I can donate a portion of my stomach to the HazMat container if it means I can get healthy, once and for all!
  3. Breathe. Soon you'll be recovering and enjoying your new life! Come on over to the loser's bench - it's amaaaazing over here!

    No coffee?Whaaaa?

Depends on the doctor and patient! I have coffee every day without problem - started drinking it in my first week post-op. My NUT doesn't care as long as the coffee doesn't interfere with my ability to get protein/liquids/vitamins in each day! Mmmmm coffee
  5. My signs are usually hiccups or general fullness in my chest - very similar to LapBand restriction, but much more pronounced! When you eat sloooooowly, these signs (or something like them) make themselves available to you!

    carbonated drinks

No carbonation until 30 days post-op...and then only if I want to/am comfortable with it. Caffeine, on the other hand, is just fine - been drinking coffee since my first week post-op.
  7. P.S. Just like the LapBand? You'll know when it's time to stop...or slow down...the restriction post-op is amaaaaazing compared with the "restriction" I had with my band
  8. That long on liquids?! Yikes! I was on "clear liquids" for the first three days post-op, then on "full liquids" until Day 14 - and even that included yogurt. Day 15 brought the transition to purees - so, essentially, I can eat anything that doesn't require chewing. I'll be in this stage until Day 29 (beginning of 5th week post-op). I've been advised that as I move through the stages, continue to go slow when introducing new foods and consistencies to see how your stomach handles them. Honestly, my doctor said any surgery complications were gone within the first 48 hours, so it's unlikely I'll "bust a gut" at this point (3 weeks post-op today). However, taking it slow and introducing foods slowly (and one at a time - in case any problem develops with digestion, I know what caused it) is the key to recovery. My doctor *did* say that weeks 2-3 were the most critical for recovery. I guess I'm past that now! My recovery has been textbook and my doc has been quite pleased at the two follow-up appointments I've had so far, so I must be doing something right!

    Quick question

I'm sure snow cones would be fine, as it's nothing more than flavored ice chips (which I was given in the hospital). Stick to sugar free, though, as the sugar can cause you digestive issues this early!

    My tummy aches.

I'd recommend sticking with liquids until you feel better. Either your tummy didn't like the chicken or the "buffalo" - have you had either before (post-op)? Sounds like you did everything you were supposed to - sometimes our tummies just don't want to agree!

    Straws?

^^^My NUT had that warning as well. As long as I'm aware of how big my sip is, the straw hasn't bothered me at all!

    first puree meal

Currently enjoying (at work): microwavable mashed potatoes with 2 wedges of Laughing Cow...yummmm. I definitely eat "purees" or "mashes" much slower than I can drink liquids - especially if it's the first thing of that thickness I've eaten during the day. However, my NUT reminded me to just continue taking it slow - we're in for a lifetime of slow eating!

    Straws?

This is a huge debate on here...just a warning . Personally, I'm 3 weeks post-op and have been using them. I went slow at first before I knew how they'd effect me, but I love my McDonald's unsweet iced tea with my straw!

    first puree meal

I've been ROCKIN' some fat free refried beans melted with some Laughing Cow wedges....SO YUM!
  15. I don't, but primarily because in the race to get my Protein in each day, I need something with higher protein counts than they offer. I'm in a battle with myself to try to drink zero calorie beverages other than Protein shakes - although that light Starbucks frappuccino this morning was tasty! My doctor has told me to eat/drink whatever I can and want to - as long as I'm meeting my protein (70g/day), Fluid (64oz/day) and Vitamin requirements, THAT is all he cares about as I continue to heal!

    Hello!

Welcome and good luck! I'm 3 weeks post-op today and feeling great!

    Protein shakes

I use Unjury powders and, on occasion, will add something to them (i.e. PB2 is a great tasting peanut butter powder that gives you some additional protein with minimal fat intake!). To be honest, I love the base flavors of Unjury, but have learned to dazzle up my protein shakes for extra nutrition, taste, etc. My doc is fine with what I do, but each one is different!

    Caloric Intake

I agree with the above poster - I'm taking in anywhere from 800-1300 calories, and I only know that because I'm entering everything into MyFitnessPal so that I can track my protein. When I mentioned this to my doctor and NUT on Tuesday, they didn't bat an eye - they said they don't care about calories or weight loss right now as long as I get my protein, fluids & vitamins in.
  19. That was the response I made to my doctor...considering I started my 10 day pre-op diet roughly 1 month ago, I've lost 23 pounds since then. 23 pounds in a month? I'll take it!

    Band/Sleeve Conversion

Honestly, my removal surgery in March was more painful post-op than having the sleeve done earlier this month. The scarring from the port removal was probably worst of all! I walked away from sleeve surgery relatively pain free - just tired . But, heck, I'll take tired over painful any day!

    New on site

I didn't have to do this for any insurance requirement, but I did have a 10 day pre-op diet to shrink my liver (allows easier access to the stomach). Luckily, my insurance authorization didn't require any "6 month program" or anything like others have to.
  22. Chobani is great, as long as you buy flavored varieties - I also wasn't a huge fan of Greek yogurt pre-op, but in trying to get more protein from something other than protein shakes, I tried Greek yogurt again.

    Been stuck...

I'm trying to remember that myself, having been stuck at my current weight for the past week. :::It will come off. It will come off. It will come off.:::

    You have been warned...

Naked AND waffles? Sounds like a sticky situation....

    June surgery dates

I brought my mini iPad and never used it...when I wasn't sleeping, I was "out of it."
