    Thinking I need a fill

:rolleyes:I was banded on12/28 and have only had one fill. Two days after getting my first fill my gallbladder went out and was removed on Feb 16th. Since lapband surgery I have lost about 30 lbs, with the pre-op diet it's about 50 altogether. I have been on a plateau for the past 3 weeks and can eat much more than usual including most breads etc. I am thinking I can eat more than normal, at least a cup to a cup and a half because I need a fill. Anyway I still worry about stretching my pouch and am thinking of going on shakes for a couple of days, but I am truly sick to death of shakes. Anyway does this sound like I just need to get a fill? Any opinions would help, and I am STARVING all the time.

I was banded on 12/28 and would like to be part of a support group. My email: texanchik2001@yahoo.com Thanks, Cheryl
  5. I just want to say one more thing. I agree this is a head game and I have not had an easy time of it either. I disagree with the above comment about low carb being deprivation. It works for me and I don't feel deprived, it is more of how we should be eating with or without a band. Protein and Veggies. With a bunch of carbs no one will lose weight. You have to do what works best for you and this is working for me. It sucks I agree, I am having a hard time with what a half cup looks like because I am not chaining myself to the measuring cup the doc gave me. I am basically having to retrain myself and years of bad habits and thinking and it is not easy. Good luck and don't give up. Also I am trying not to have a panic attack over the credit card bill that just came in with my surgery cost on it.
  6. Don't be so hard on yourself. Twelve pounds is successful. I was banded on12/28 and I literally went 2 weeks without losing a pound in fact I gained a few back. I found the 5 day pouch test diet and I began eating low carb meals after this and have lost a few pounds since. So I can honestly say that low carb is definitly helping, although this weekend I am having more carbs than normal. Tommorow, I will dust myself off and get back on the wagon. I have been having cup type meals. Meals that I can assemble quickly in a cup and take to work. For example a mashed up piece of chicken in the bottom with a little salsa or tomatoe sauce, throw some fresh spinach on top and add cheese on top of that. Then I heat it up at work and it's delicious. Other times I may microwave a couple of cracked eggs in a coffee cup with cheese and salsa, also good. Please don't beat yourself up, keep going even if there are some slip ups.

    Hunger Wall

You can do it! I was banded on 12/28 and had to do the diet through Christmas and we went to several Christmas parties, which was pure torture! My surgeon had me do 2 protein shakes a day and 2 low carb meals. The instructions said eat until full not stuffed. I really think the low carb helps you to not be hungry. You can definitly lose 5 lbs in two weeks. You are doing the right thing by going to the gym. My Dr said basically they are just trying to flush all of the fat from your liver and exercise does help that. Good Luck!

Sw Houston/Fort Bend Co - Need fill doc

My doctor is Dr Wilkenfeld in Conroe. That may be far for you, but it might be worth it. They charge 75.00 for a fill but my copay is only 45.00. Also they do it under flouro so it is more accurate. Their staff is really great. His wife Tina was saying that some Dr's around the country gouge people by charging them 300 or 400. dollars a fill. Good luck!

Eating in College and More Support!

That's good that you found some support on your campus. I remember when I was in college that it could be stressful at times, so suport is a really good thing. Good call on the meal plan. Wow 2000.00 a semester is ridiculous! Good Luck!

    New to lapband talk

:confused:Hello, I am new to Lap Band Talk. I had LAP-BAND® surgery on 12/28 and will not get a fill until Feb 10th. The problem is that right now I feel like I can eat a cow. I suppose this is bandster hell. I can eat at least a cup of food, maybe more. I was so worried that I would stretch my pouch that I read about and decided to try the 5 day pouch diet which is making me lose weight, but I am having a hard time sipping instead of gulping down the liquids. I am not enjoying this hunger at all. Does anyone have any suggestions. I am wondering how I am supposed to stick to half cup when I am hungry and it looks like more is going down!

    ?

I just want to say good luck. I was banded on 12-28 last monday and I have to go back to work tommorow. I made the mistake yesterday of making a bunch of thin pureed soups in the kitchen all day and over did it and it sent me to bed the rest of the day. Going through the holidays was pure hell for me. While everyone was eating wonderful meals and snacks at the holiday parties, I was drinking shakes. What torment. I have managed to lose 20 lbs in two weeks so that is what is keeping me going. I really believe this will get easier. One thing I am really upset about is as soon as my surgery was over my back was in really bad pain and has been that way ever since I am really P- Off about it. My sister is in the medical field and she said they just misshandle people all the time while they are out. I am definitly complaining to my Dr when I see him this week. Keep up the good work! This whole thing will work out!!!!! We will take it one day at a time!
