approved but not happy
losethemess replied to losethemess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so happy you understand what I'm talking about. I called my doctors office this morning and left a message for the nurse who does scheduling to call me back. Hopefully by some miracle they can push the date up. We only get a limited number of sick days for the entire year, I hate to have to use they during the first month of school. Good luck with you surgery. When do you start your pre-op diet? -
Congratulation, what a great post. I want to have another child after I'm banded a lose a few pounds. I have so many questions for you ok813. Did you get an unfill? Where you eating the larger portions because of the pregnancy. How did the band affect your pregnancy?

The New Rules of Lifting for Women: Lift Like a Man, Look Like a Goddess. I've had this book for a while and did some of the workouts, boy do they work you just have to do them consistently. My good friend who is in great shape uses it. It's a strength training workout book for women. Strength training is so important. Good luck -

approved but not happy
losethemess replied to losethemess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hey hutchandmarleysmama, you must have misunderstood me. i have completed all the insurance requirements, been approved, received the approval letter and everything. there are several people on this blog who have been scheduled before they receive their approval letters. while each doctors office is different, i really hope they would make an exception and allow me to schedule my surgery earlier. after all they anticipated me being approved otherwise they wouldn't have suggested i go through the 6 month supervised diet. i'm just really mad (but thankful to God) that i have been approved. my husband has been the voice of reason and just said be patient so i guess i just need to do that. i'm going to call tomorrow and see what happens. Scheduling is at the discretion of the doctors office, not the insurance company. when i was approved the insurance company didn't know the surgery date because the doctors office still hadn't scheduled it. -
approved but not happy
losethemess replied to losethemess's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
well Skat, that should be enough, my doctors wanted me to provide as much as possible. it wasn't enough so they suggested i do the 6 month diet. do you have anything else like you books that show your progress? did you just pay and not attend? try to submit what you have. if you doctors office feels like it's not enough and you'll be denied they will suggest the 6 month diet. it's a long and arduous process but will pay off in the end. good luck -
Officially Approved BUT NO SURGERY DATE!!!
losethemess posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was approved last week Thursday (approval took 2-3 days.) Found out when I called insurance company. Called doctors office immediatley, ready to schedule my surgery date, they said they couldn't until they received the approval letter. I called insurance company and asked them to fax letter, they said they couldn't until letter printed off their system at the end of the day. The never faxed it that day, called Friday all I got was voice mail. Called Monday, voice mail again, then I received letter in the mail, Monday afternoon. Leave email for Doctors office, no response. Call Doctors office today, Yippie so now I ready to get a surgery date right? Wrong, doctors office still didn't get a copy of letter in the mail, so I fax it to them today and they tell me it could take a week to schedule WTF? Why so long? I have been going through this process since January and have to wait a week for a date, I'm livid. It seems like every other doctors office in America schedule's their patients surgery before they receive an official approval letter, why my does my doctors office does it differently is beyond my understanding. Side-note: The wonderful young lady who I usually speak with at doctors office has been out of the office for 2 days. I pray she is ok. Maybe that's why it's taking so long to get a date. Hopefully I'll have so good news to reports on Wednesday Just felt like venting. Thank you very much. -
Anxiously Awaiting Approval

You are so lucky. I was approved last week and still have no surgery date. Did I mention you are so lucky. You'll be fine. God Bless you -
Insurance Questions...do i need all this?
losethemess replied to Mija's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It depends on your insurance carrier's requirements. I have BCBS TX and was required to do a 6 month medically supervised diet. I only had to pay the $25 co-pay monthly to see the nutritionist and paid $25 for the Psychiatric Evaluation. So in total I paid $175 for everything. I started this process in January and just got approved on Thursday, hopefully you'll be approved a lot sooner if not, be patient. You'll get approved in good time. -
How often will you/are you calling your insurance?
losethemess replied to spoiltmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I called everyday, approval only took two days. Now I'm waiting for the approval letter to be faxed to my doctors office. I'm so frustrated because without that doctors office won't schedule surgery. I've called like 5 times already this morning, keep getting voice mail. I've waited over six months in order to get approval and am tired of waiting. -
I've completed all of my insurance company's pre-surgical requirements, submitted paperwork on Wednesday, July 14th and found out the next day that I was approved. Now I'm waiting for a surgery date. Once the doctors office receives the approval letter, then can schedule the surgery. Not celebrating until I actually get a surgery date.

Approved Anthem Bc/Bs surgery 7-27-10
losethemess replied to ksmomma's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats, congrats, congrats!!! How long was the approval process? I have BCBS TX and my paperwork was submitted yesterday via fax. I called today to confirm that they received it and they told me that my doctors office needs to obtain pre-certification before they receive my paperwork. Was this true for you as well? -

Denied... what do I do now?!
losethemess replied to PinkFish's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I got the most accurate information from my insurance company. Try calling them and asking for a different doctor referral. Are you sure that you insurance covers lap band surgery? If so with a BMI of 47 you should be approved. Try going to a doctors office that is more helpful and knowledgeable, that makes all the difference. -

Hello Ladies, Amazing that I found some information that I pray will help you two. Did you tell anyone you were having surgery?
losethemess posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm hoping to be banded sometime in July/August. I haven't told anyone about the surgery except my husband and my mother. I haven't even told me sister, who is skinny and who I'm really close. I have a lot of apprehensions about telling anyone because I think they would judge me later. What do you think? Who did you guys tell? What are you regrets about not telling? What are your regrets about telling? What's the purpose of telling? Should I wait for results then tell? Are you able to eat in front of people without having to explain your eating habits? What do you say to explain them? -

I had my 6th and FINAL dietician appointment today, Yippiiiieeee!!!! My paperwork will be submitted tomorrow or Monday. The person who handles billing at my doctors office said it should take about a week for a response. I'm going to call my insurance company sometime next week to see if they have made a decision. Please pray for me.

losethemess replied to Snowymtnrn's topic in Insurance & Financing
The best way to find accurate information quickly is to contact your insurance company directly and ask them if they cover the surgery. They will ask for your ID#/Group# so that they can specifically look at your plan. That's what I did and they cover it. I have BCBS TX. Insurance varies depending on employer inclusions and exclusions. -
Psych evaluation - details?
losethemess replied to ardelia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jess55 don't mention that. I think that they are trying to determine if you are psychology fit to have the surgery. Mentioning that you previously suffered from depression, may hurt your chances of being approved. I'm not sure and I haven't been approved myself, it's just my opinion. Don't give the insurance company any reason, not to approve you. -
Ankle weights for the rest of my life?
losethemess replied to Bella Luna's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone is telling Bella Luna to lie, but if she doesn't have to she shouldn't. Don't encourage it. Try to qualify with the co-morbidity's first. That makes more sense. If that doesn't work, do what you have to do. I know I did, need I say more, yes I did and I'm not ashamed. I still haven't been approved, but I did what I had to do. Still completing my 6 month diet. If you don't have to go through the stress like I had to go through, don't. The co-morbidities, at this point are you friend. -
Psych evaluation - details?
losethemess replied to ardelia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went did my Psychiatric Evaluation on Monday. You have to answer a series of questions You have to complete the Beck Depression survey. And some other questions about your mental state, what you know about the surgery, what you know about the risks involved, what you know about post-op and preparing for surgery psychology, I hope this helps -
Hey Liria, great to hear your story, good luck.
