    Protein

Unjury is a very popular protein powder for Bariatric patients. It comes in many flavors as well as unflavored. I actually ordered some unflavored Unjury but never opened it. If you'd like I'll send it to you. I'm way past the liquid phase. I'm at goal. I lost 110lbs. I had my surgery in August 2010. I went through the samething. I couldn't find one I liked at first. After a lot of searching I found some that were tolerable. My favorite protein shakes in order where Chocolate Muscle Milk, Amway Chocolate (had to order from Amway representative) Nectar and Easy Advantage. Isopure premixed was my least favorite. The Isopure powder was tolerable. My suggestion DON'T GIVE UP. Shop around until you find one that is tolerable. Buy samples, single serve, or small contaibers until you decide you've found one that's tolerable. Notice I said "tolerable." Yoh don't have to love it, just tolerate them for a short time until you get to the next phase.

  4. cont.... B-52 being banded it just the first step in your journey. The rest is up to you. God Bless
  5. Thanks everyone. @ B-52. Well there are several things that have been difficult for me. Making myself exercise three days a week for the past 2+ years. Learning not to overeat. Learning what to eat. Being consistent. Not giving up even when I had setbacks. Going through hunger spurts. Days when I felt I just couldn't get enough to eat. N
  6. I'n 160lbs baby. I reached goal this morning. Down 110lbs.

My mamas story, aspiration and ARDS

God Bless you and your mother and thank you for posting this. What touching words "My mom was my best friend." Your post was very informative. I've had mild reflux for a few months. I'll definitely talk to my doctor more about the night time reflux. I'm concerned that it could damage my esphogus.
  8. Pen527 you can do it. Honestly you can do it. I was so scared that my pouch was dialated that I changed my eating habits on my own. My suggestion to you is to find a support group. They can help you, help yourself get back on track. Good luck and happy weight loss
  9. Well I had my Upper GI and no pouch dialation for me. My pouch is a little stretched but besides that everything is copesetic. It was nice going to my docs office and speaking with the nurse practitioner. My dr.'s office is WOMDERFUL my nurse practitioner always reinforces the importance of following the rules and everything else. I sometimes just forget (or get lazy, what ever you want to call.) I think I'll start attending support group meetings again they help me stay on track and remind me that I'm still a bandster
  10. I had issues like you're describing when I was pregnant. I would wake up with vomit in my throat and mouth. Eating certain foods like pizza in particular would make my back hurt. All these symptoms eventually subsided after the pregnancy. I recommend seeing your doctor like others have recommended. Also try not to eat at least 2-3 hours before you sleep and try an over the counter heartburn medicine like Tums or Prilosec. I hear Nexium is good that calls for a prescription

  12. Emptying the band should allow the muscles in your esphogus to contract thereby returning it to its original size. Dialation occurs from over eating. You eat too much, food emptys into your esphogus, sits there and stretches your esphogus. A dialated esphogus can cause heartburn, acid reflux, feeling unsatisfied with eating small amounts of food, the ability to eat previously difficult to eat foods... ie bread, rice, Pasta. How do I know this you ask? Well I'm going through the same thing and have started doing research. I went for a fill Wednesday. I told my nurse practitioner I was feeling increasingly hungry, could eat almost anything and I need a fill. She said I may have a dialated esphogus which she's warned me about in the past SEVERAL times. Did that stop me from overeatting? Apparently not. My upper GI is scheduled for Tuesday. I've made some self modifications in order to decrease the swelling before Tuesdays appointment. I've stopped overeatting. I'm eating once a day drinking lots of Fluid and really restricting myself. If my upper GI comes back and it does indicate dialation. I'm sure I'll be completely unfilled. I CAN NOT, I repeat CAN NOT be unfilled. I've lost 105 lbs already. I've meet my original goal but would like to lose another 5. The lesson I've learned is that I need to refocus and control myself more. God Bless you. If you can make any changes on your own before you have to be unfilled please do it and unfill is a scary thought. And getting back to your sweet spot is a long long journey.

  14. I'd like to add. I think you'll have more band issues while pregnant if you have restriction before getting pregnant. I was at pretty good restriction before getting pregnant and was actually contemplating getting another fill to lose my last 20 lbs or so, so I could hit goal. Thank God I didn't get another fill. I also now realize that as my pregnancy progresses and my tummy gets bigger my band will only get tighter. My band is sensitive. I knew at the start of the pregnancy that I may need a slight unfill I just didn't think it would be this soon. Hoping to get in to see my Dr Tuesday or Wednesday.
  15. I've had nothing but problems since learning I was pregnant. I'm one year post op and 11 weeks pregnant I'm almost at 7 ccs. Lost 86 lbs before getting pregnant. I'm 5"10 was 270 got down to 186 my goal was 165. Anyway my biggest issue is with vomiting and nausea. I'm constantly nauseated. If I don't eat I'm nauseated if I do eat I feel like vomiting. I vomit at least 2-3 times daily. This morning I weighed myself I was at 178 lbs. That means I have lost 8 lbs this trimester. That wouldn't be a problem if I were able to eat three meals a day and drink enough water. I'm even having a hard time keeping down liquids. After suffering for over two months I've decided to get a slight unfill. Hoping my doctor won't completely unfill me. Concerned baby is not getting enough to eat. Honestly I'm also concerned about not having enough resrriction and overeating. Ive already been fantasizing about what im going to eat after the unfill. At first I wasn't concerned about the weight loss, many women lose weight during their first trimester because of nausea and vomiting. I'm now concerned because I'm approaching my 2nd trimester. The nausea and vomiting have not subsided and I keep losing weight. I hope this slight unfill gives me some relief.
  16. 13 more pounds to go

  17. Just found out through a Dr that you should take Malox Advanced during first trimester. Dam dam dam
  18. 16 more pounds to go

  19. I'm about 6 weeks pregnant and virtually everything hurts going down. Cereal, chicken, eggs, pasta..... I'm constantly nauseous and vomiting. I am unable to go to my Dr. Until September because of insurance issues, switched insurance now adding better insurance during open enrollment. I've done some research and narrowed it down. I attribute my sickness to either, a slipped band, anemia, GERD, or heartburn. I started taking Malox Advanced ( which I think is okay to take when you're pregnant) before meals. I eat extremely extremely slow, slower than I ate before I got pregnant and this seems to have done the trick. I also bought some Tums. I'll try those out today
  20. I'm in Arlington, TX and would love a workout buddy if your interested please respond

    Miscarried and No Fill

So sorry to hear you miscarried. You'll get back up in fills try to be patient. I know thats easier said then done. I think it's wonderful your doctor fills slowly it prevents complications and future emergency unfills. God Bless you
  23. 19 more pounds to go

  24. I've had about 8-10 fills ( I'm at 6.8 ccs i think maybe less) and although I complained so much about my Doctors office filling me so slowly after reading all these posts about people getting stuck and having to get unfills I'm thankful. An experienced Dr. will fill you slowly.
