  1. Happy 37th Birthday VBomber22!

  2. Hi There! Has anyone been banded by Dr. Paul Wizman in Margate FL? If so, any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Vickie

    Confused?

I am in the same position as I am currently researching the LapBand procedue. I am so scared about everything! The pre-op diet, the surgery, recovery, having a foreign object in my body, and gaining the weight back! I keep telling myself that being so overweight and unhealthy is more likely to kill me than this surgery! I have an appointment with my PCP on Thursday. I plan to speak to him about the procedure. I found a local surgeon who seems to have many years of experience. He even teaches others to perform the surgery. My husband has researched the procedure as well and he is confident that this is a good option for me. No matter what anyone says, we will ultimately need to make this decision on our own. I am very scared, but not as scared as I am to die at an early age - I am only 34. I do not have children, but I would like to. I want to be around to see them grow! Good Luck making your decision, Bell. Vickie
  4. Hi jmenav87! I am in the exact same position as you... any information you obtain, please share I will do the same! Vickie
  5. Hi All! I read several different stories about the required "pre-op diet". It seems like the timeline and required intake differs per surgeon. What is your pre-op diet like? I am sure it isn't easy, but I would like to know how long and what you are required to do. I would love to hear feedback on what you are doing and how long you were told to be onthe pre-op diet. Thanks and GOOD LUCK! Vickie

Hello - New to The Forum

Hi There, BTrieger! Thanks for this helpful information! I really appreciate it. I am so scared about this whole process, but I am more fearful of losing my life! Being overweight as much as I am with the comorbidities that I have, the surgery seems like a much better option for me. How are you feeling 30 post op? Was it worth it thus far? How long did it take you to recover? Thanks again! Vickie
  7. Hi There!

I am a newbie to the forum and am still considering the LapBand procedure. I wanted to tell you that I read one of your recent posts about the length of time and your satisifcation with the band and I wanted to say thank you. You seem like a real person who struggled and trimuphed - which to me is really important.

Since I am researching the procedure and considering it, do you have an advice for me?

I am scared as hell! I am 34 years old with 100lbs over weight and have high blood pressure. I just noticed that my feet and ankles swell daily. With all of the co-morbidities I have (all sorts of cardiovascular and other diseases in my family), I need to get serious and get this weight off.

Any advice you could provide would be more than appreciated. Thanks, CoffeeWench. Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Vickie

AETNA - Health Fund Insurance - Anyone?

WOW! I hope they get back to you soon. I am sure they will. Insurance companies can be very difficult and trying at times. Thanks for the information. It is very helpful. How are you feeling about the whole process thus far? Vickie

Hello - New to The Forum

Thanks so much, TN_girl21. I really appreciate the welcome - and your honesty. I am not expecting this to be easy - that is for sure. I have to do something before I have some really serious medical issues. I want to have children and quite frankly, I cannot do it like this! I want to be healthy. Keep me posted on your progress. Good Luck! V :smile2:
  12. Greetings Everyone! I am a newbie! I am a 34-year-old woman who is 100 lbs over weight and simply tired of feeling like crud all of the time! I am tired of being heavy, feeling sleepy, having a hard time breathing, having my feet and ankles swell, and not wanting my picture taken. With a family history of high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and suffering from high BP and sleep apnea as well, I am ready to turn my life around. I have tried many weight loss programs to no avail. The thought of dying like this scares the heck out of me. It's time for me to get serious and lose this weight once and for all! I have not decided whether I will undergo the LapBand procedure or not, but I am hoping to learn a lot from you all. I am currently doing a lot of research and I think hearing from those who actually have undergone the surgery will help me make a firm decision. Thanks for having me join you... and I look forward to learning a lot on this forum. Vickie
