  3. Please feel free to ask me anything! We are a very supportive group here! Welcome!!!

  4. Okay, so I am about four weeks out from the surgery and doing well. I have lost 35 lbs...YAY! For the last week or so, I had lost that post-op "full" feeling and was able to eat almost anything. I wasn't eating nearly as much as I would have before the surgery but I don't think it was the band that was keeping me from overeating but more my paranoia of getting stuck and/or throwing up. Needless to say, it was time for a fill. So, at the doc's office, lie down, tighten abdomen, fluid in, no biggie. Although, I will say that I could FEEL the fluid going in which was a little weird. I told the nurse that I could already feel a difference. She asked me how it felt but I couldn't really put a word to it. She looked at me like I might be a little crazy but I'm okay with that  Stuck around the office and drank the obligatory two cups of water. Even after the water, I was feeling full. I attributed it to my having eaten a salad about an hour before my appointment. So, although I wasn't hungry, I just had "dinner" that consisted of about 1/3 cup of broth and I don't think I could have another drop. Feeling REALLY reflux-y. I don't want or need to vomit but I guess I thought I would be able to get more down. So, being new to this, I have to ask, is this normal? Is it that it is my first fill and the feeling subsides in a couple days or is this the sign of an overfill? I know everyone responds differently to the LB but any insight would be appreciated. Oh, and BTW, don't make fun of me but I have to ask.....what are PBing and sliming? I have read those words on many posts and I have no idea what they are talking about! Sliming sounds like something that happens in a show on Nickelodeon I am soooo not familiar with the jargon yet!

First fill today....was it too much?

  6. OMG! I felt like I was reading my own blog. I, too, had my 7 jeans moment just last week! Surgery was on 12/28/09 and I am down 35 lbs and just had my first fill today. So, last week, I couldn't find my one and only pair of "fat" jeans that would fit prior to surgery. I wear scrubs at work and have been wearing track suits and stuff since surgery so I hadn't really been looking for them. Anyway, I tried my Lane Bryant 7 jeans (circa 2006) and they fit! I called pretty much everyone I know (that knows I had the band) to share in my delight. I hadn't worn them in about two years. Back when LB started selling them, I bought like 8 pairs and it has been making me ill to think I have like $1000 worth of designer jeans in my closet that I couldn't wear but now I know holding on to them was the right move! So, congratulations, girl! Rock those jeans!
  7. I am curious, too. I am 13 days postop and I have lost a total of 29 lbs....7 with the pre-op diet and 21 since surgery. I have been on soft foods for 4 days and I am still losing the weight which is nice. I was worried that all the weight that I lost the first week postop would come back on when I started taking in solids but it hasn't. I go in for my first fill in 10 days! YAY!
  8. Congrats on your decision and I assure you it was by far the best decision I have made...as far as advice...I have found that as much as I read the forum and everyones opinions it all ended up being trial an error...things that worked for others didnt always work for me...and like I said I had yet to see anyone as big as I was...so it bummed me out...silly I know but thats how I looked at it...I wasnt looking for instant satisfaction and there are still days when I look at myself and see no difference...I think the hardest part is going to be changing the Inner me as corny as that sounds...having been big most of my life once you start to loose that wieght your head doesnt catch up as quickly...I would love to keep in touch with your progress!! Its always exciting to see someones smile come back to life!! Best of luck...Kristina
