    Post Gastric Sleeve Surgery Update

CONGRATULATIONS, favoredone!! I had my surgery yesterday, so I have you beat by one day. :-) I'm glad you're feeling well. I haven't had any major problems either. I'm having the same issues you're having with drinking. I discovered that I don't know how to sip. I'll learn ... hopefully sooner rather than later. Continue on your road to recovery!!
  5. Hi Everyone! This is my first post in the forum, and I'm excited to be here. I'm leaving for Mexico tomorrow to have a LapBand-to-Sleeve revision on Tuesday. Dr. Aceves is doing my surgery. I'm going alone, so I'm a little nervous, but I can't wait to get on the other side!
  6. Hi Everyone! I'm leaving for Mexico tomorrow morning to have a LapBand-to-Sleeve revision on Tuesday by Dr. Aceves? Will anyone else be there during the same time? It would be nice to "know" someone before I get there.
  7. Hi everyone! I have my LapBand revision to sleeve next Tuesday. I'm starting my pre-surgery diet tomorrow. I'm starting to get more excited and nervous. Dr. Aceves will be my surgeon. For those of you who had him, can you tell me about cellular service at the hospital? I understand the hospital is very close to the border. Do you think I'll be roaming or charged for international usage if I use my cell phone there? Only one person knows I'm going to have the surgery, and I'm going alone. I don't want people getting worried if I don't answer my phone for an entire week. (I live alone, too, so my family checks on me every so often to make sure I'm okay.) Any thoughts? Closely related, I think the nurses will call someone when surgery is over to let my family know I'm okay. Is that correct? If so, I'll have them call my sister. She's the one person who knows I'm having the surgery. She's a nurse, too, and she's had the surgery, so she's been helping me about what to expect. Most of my questions now are specific to having surgery in Mexico and by Dr. Aceves. I'd greatly appreciate any other tips/suggestions you want to send my way. Thanks in advance!!

    December 1st - Dr. Aceves

    Unexpected Response From Co-worker

Hugs, hon!! Only one person knows I'm having the surgery. Part of mine is because it's a revision from lapband. I know ppl are going to think if lapband didn't work, what makes me think the sleeve will. Admittedly, I think I have some of those same thoughts, too. Bottom line, not everyone will understand, and not everyone will be part of your support system. As you mentioned, you are convinced that you're doing the right thing because you know your struggles, and you have done your research. You have some ppl at work to support you, and you have this forum. You'll do just fine!! :-)

    Question About Dr. Aceves

Foxbins - thanks for the speedy reply!!
  12. NewlySleeved (and everyone else!) - thanks SO much for taking the time to post. I'm a little nervous and anxious, but hearing your story really helps!! My sister was supposed to travel to Mexico with me, but that's changed now, and I'll be going alone. She's the only person who knows I'm going. I have no idea how, when, or if I'm going to explain the weight loss to everyone else. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. I'm just eager to start a new chapter. I don't have much of a pre-surgery diet, but I am supposed to drink two shakes and have a sensible dinner, I think. I'm going to check this weekend because whatever I'm supposed to do, I have to start it Monday. I'm happy to know there will be others there that I can talk to and bond with. It'll do me good. Thanks again!!
  13. My revision is a little higher. It's almost $11K. I'm a self-pay, but I'm happy I don't have to fight with my insurance, and once it's done I don't have to keep paying for fills, etc. With my lapband, each office visit is no less than $300, and the x-rays are close to $1000. I had a high deductible, and even after the deductible was met, not much was covered. I figured it's best to go ahead and spend the lumpsum and get it over with.
  14. Dr. Aceves will be doing my lapband revision on Dec. 20. I have some questions for those who also used him. Where is his clinic located? Is it close to the border, or is it farther into Mexico? Does he operate from a hospital or clinic? Thanks in advance!
  15. Thanks for the feedback, everyone! I feel a little better, although I'm still kinda scared. What do you all do for support back home? What do you do for checkups? Do you just go to your regular PCP if you have issues? My PCP doesn't even know I'm having it done. She knows I had LapBand, but she doesn't know I'm having the revision. I'm just so sick of doctor's visits and co-pays; I don't go to her unless absolutely necessary. Any thoughts?
